To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Sora yori mo Tooi Basho. The drama is extremely forced, and without a solid grasp of melodrama most of the writing will go over a typical viewers head. There's also Shirase's endless weeping, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Mexican soap operas, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these tears, to realise that they're not just sad- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Yorimoi truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Hinata's existential catchphrase "piss off", which itself is a cryptic reference to the act of urination. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Jukki Hanada's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

Because there was actually a show airing at the same time as Yorimoi called the Ancient Magus Bride that had more aggressive marketing than usual from crunchyroll. Yet that show completely tanked on Yea Forums, it was not well received here at all. Yorimoi on the other hand I didn't even know about until a day or two before it aired and only watched it because it was the first new anime to air that season and I was bored that night.

This is one of my problems with Yorimoi. Why would you make character designs purposefully ugly? If it at least had cute girls, I would tolerate it.

Maybe. Maybe I did maybe I didn't, who can say? Read it and find out. If I tell you how you'll react it might just ruin the ending by creating expectations in your mind. All I'll say his novels are always filled with a realistic sense of sadness and inevitability with a little bit of supernatural elements thrown in but if the mc's are determined in a way they might just find their happy ending. His afterwords will sometimes really make you cry hard after reading his stories. I think the guys a great writer and I really can't find any novels like his elsewhere.

Watched this the other day. Not a sad movie by any means but the ending really got to me. The relationship between the kid and the dental assistant was so pure and heartwarming that by the end (Utada Hikari's ending song was the kick in the balls) I was an emotional mess.

when they were still to small to live on their own, my cat got lost (as we later found out she was locked up in some garage or smth), the vet told us that they cant take in such young cats because they require all around the clock care, they told us what to do and thats it, good luck
my dad was working outside the country, mom had full time job and my older brother had a part time job too so often i was left alone to deal with them
lets just say being around 15 y old is not the best time to be taking care of 7 little, fragile creatures that dont want to eat, scream all the time and dont do other important for them things (like taking a shit, little cats cant do that by themselves)
after 2 or 3 weeks of hell they got sick, started dying one after another
i still remember grabbing their stiff little bodies away from the rest of them and taking them out to the forest
when the adult cat finally came back, thin and dirty, the first day she was looking all around my house for the kittens but they were all dead long time ago already, her meowing was kinda haunting
after all those years i still get some flashbacks when i see a bottle of milk

actually some anons would say im a cruel, sick fuck if i said how things go now with hopeless animals
being from countryside means you deal with animals quite often, whether chickens, dogs, cows or whatever, there are many pests too foxes, mice, martens and they have to be well dealt with
at this point i took out so many dead animals into the woods to get eaten by some scavengers that it doesnt bother me anymore, whats more when i see some cat, mice or smth like that mortally wounded i just take a shovel and coup de grace that poor fucker
i just dont deal with dead kittens often and the fact that we tried to keep them alive hit me more
some people would just drown or axe them instantly but we didnt have enough courage i guess to do it, i wouldnt try to take care of any again, recently i had a similar situation but the cat went missing only for 2 days so she came back in time, although 3 kittens were snatched by a fox i didnt hide them because i knew i cant help them anyway, one is still alive and well, already grown up
i just cant forget those that i tried to nurture
