Houseki no Kuni

Where do we go from here? Where CAN we go? Never mind a happy ending, are we headed towards any ending?

Some minor leaks are here. Full chapter leaks soooooooooon™

sea arc when???????

Calendar here (A little bit late)
I haven't checked the leaks yet, I wonder in which direction Ichikawa is going to move the series now, I'm interested.

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH I LOVE PHOS!!!

bump

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I NEED MORE LEAKS (or a better quality of the ones we got so far)

I don't know but I am thoroughly sick of the moon and have been for some time.

I wonder if we're gonna find out what happened to Paddy for him to be put in the goo for all these years.

Like I wouldn't put it past the Lunarians just doing it to forcibly stop Pads from trying to go back down and retrieve Phos right away, but the conversation the moon gems had when they were talking about Yellow deteriorating (and mentioned Pads) made me think it could potentially be somethings still wrong with him.

I deeply appreciate that, even across oceans and languages, we're all in the same boat of suffering

Let! He! Dead!

the end

Just because of that... bump!

I just have a horrifyingly thought.

Considering how memories work for gems in this series, is it possible to have current Phos loose all his phosphophyllite but at the same time, what if all those bits of phosphophyllite were regathered again? Can you reconstruct the original Phos body but with roughly the same memory as current Phos? If so, whose the real Phos?

In the end, Phosphophyllite is the friends we made along the way.

Truth to be told this mango should be ending already, it feels like the author is stretching the story to death.

DOES WHATEVER A SPIDER CAN

The only way it won't end soon is if we get another body part for Phos that was as influential and important as Lapis, which I doubt.
Even if he gets Paddy's social cool or Red Dia's psychopathy, it's not like it would make Phos do a 180 like the airhead -> accidental genius transition did.

I am really tired of the moon arc at this point.

Full leaks when

kek

It really was a week full of suffering.

SEA ARC WAS SET UP SO GREAT. PHOS SHOULD HAVE JUST GIVEN UP AND LET THE WAVES TAKE HER

Now you know how moonpeople feel.
>cycle of neverending disappointment and boredom

We are the moon people. Every single person in all boards will become moonies.
Quieta and Kima probably browse /fa/, which board Aechmea and Barbata tend to go?

/sci/, /r9k/ and /d/ for Aechmea.

Yea Forums for the trap porn, along with /cgl/

What about the gems? What board does Phos post on?

probably /x/ or /adv/ or something.

She’d make Phos threads on /c/.

Gems are kind and pure, they don't belong in this cursed realm.

I swear to god if they all go back to the moon and I have to suffer another IRL year of moon shenanigans, I'LL DROP THIS MANGA!

Bye then, bitch.

What did Phos do that no one else was doing in order for her to become regarded as human?

Suffer a lot.

You won't user, don't lie to yourself

Change and provoke change, both due to outside influences and his own agency, unlike literally anyone else.

>All the phosposting and lapisposting is Phos.

We should probably just regard the old parts of Phos that were lost as being gone for good, so that Phos can't go back to how things were. I'm guessing Phos will always have some tiny part of original Phos, but who knows by the end of this.

What could happen is a 180 from being the depressed maniac that Phos is right now. Proportionally, there's also a lot more of Phos that could be replaced at the moment.

Who is the girl on the far left?

phos is pretty much broken. I wonder what type of cyborg entity they will plaster over her face. My bet is she's gonna look like Blame silicon life when she goes back to earth.

Amethyst, he changed his hairstyle.

It's reached the point that I'm just getting bored of it

Attached: 1542670481470.png (296x417, 95K)

Who? Is that Shiro?

Día says 'mukimuki', it's probably one of cairnslut's dogs.

Phos finally comes to terms with what Karen said about being selfish.
Phos had basically decided to kill his own love for Sensei because he basically embodied the crux of every problem, but never once stopped to think about how Sensei felt about him.
We had the crushing "he was always kind to me" at the end of chapter 76 when Phos reflected about the past, now Phos realized that kindness still applies, which is even sadder as Adamant's basically the only one who showed Phos some love.

Attached: Laphos ch51.png (2272x4552, 2.39M)

For what purpose?

It's Cairo's
Remember how Aechmea said that Shiro had undergone some modification after ending up to the moon, they just did it again

FUCKING WHY

They should make Phos rainbow colored despair by repairing him with all the remaining and recovered pieces and souvenirs from the defeated gems. Imagine how happy he'd be!

Aechmea looks as done as sensei here

I guess he's removing the illusion that Phos has any choice in the matter

L E T ! H E ! D E A D !

I think he's just disappointed, upset and tired at the same time. The Lunarians have existed for far longer than Phos has. I imagine that they managed to overcome far greater despair in all this time that they exist. Phos is... how old? A few hundred? Maybe thousand? Excluding all the time that he spent sleeping or incapacitated. The Lunarians on the other hand are as old as Sensei, if not older. Tens of thousands? Millions? Achy is unimpressed by Phos breaking down over literally nothing. He and his people have been there and overcame it, a long, long time ago. Maybe it even comes to them in cycles and after going insane, they all recover again... Phos' suffering is incomparable. Less than nothing.

I fucking told you. I told you guys Phos didn't hate Sensei and would regret the way she acted once she regains her sanity. This child is too kind to really hate somebody.

Attached: 1564367290573.jpg (1000x1000, 278K)

I'm actually laughing because phos does need some sense slapped into her.

>Lunarians
>overcome despair
That does not seem likely

The moonies have never gone through real suffering or loss though, just incomparable boredom.
The moonies very nature means they've never truly suffered, they'd probably welcome it at this point.

I think a better reading of the whole thing is that Phos did come to hate Kongo as she directed all of her rage and hostility against him for indirectly causing the conflict between the earth and the moon, and now is backing out on that. Phos is all about feeling very strong emotions, which is something no one else in the manga experiences without snapping completely like Craig or Rutile.
This isn't Phos becoming "sane" again as she looks anything but sane there, it's just Phos coming to terms with reality. Even when she wanted to remove Sensei, Phos did that to save everyone and used that motivation to keep going, to the point of using it as a clear outlet for her frustration like in pic related. Phos is voicing her despair at learning Antarc is gone forever but isn't thinking clearly as Pads immediately states -they'd need Sensei alive, not dead.

Reminder that Phos currently has threads on /c/ and /cm/ simultaneously
also /w/

We can only hope.
Moon arc so far has been slower than anything before it for many reasons, one of which being that it set up a great many plot threads that didn't go anywhere yet. Mainly:
>the new technology Aechmea talked about in chapter 69
>whatever went down with P Diddy's restoration
>Fagmea being ashamed of his own name
>human particle
>Cringeworm's arm and the whole "even before you came to the moon"
>red Aleki
>the entirety of the gems' restoration program
>the need to recover the pieces from the slugs
>Yellow going bonkers
>Ame and Barbata possibly extracting the gems' "souls" or whatever
All of these have been set up in a way that was supposed to draw attention to it and still have seen 0 resolution. Ichikawa would better start giving some answers soon.

Attached: b3.png (1114x1600, 1.68M)

>>Cringeworm's arm and the whole "even before you came to the moon"
Don't forget the "Switch it over" from moonman right before the third earth visit.

based as always

Seems like Achmea basically just saying 'I told you so' in terms of Phos/the gems loving Sensei too much?

I only listed stuff that was properly set up as needing a resolution.
>switch [it] over
is just a vague line of little consequence that could legitimately refer to 'switch [the situation] over' or 'switch [that robot] over'

It's craig's doggo

Attached: PSX_20190923_084900.jpg (475x319, 50K)

I appreciate the /fa/ in this at least.
>Phos' left arm is but a puddle of gold anymore
Is it safe to say that this is Phos's single highest body mass percentage loss since vol 2?

>You told me to throw you away after recovering you.
>Any changes to that?

Fuck.

This manga has done the same thing for over a year and still has readers who are surprised when it does the same thing again. Impressive.

Exactly one year ago we were at chapter 71, user, the one immediately after the night raid where Bortz becomes Baldz. "I don't like the pace, it's become too slow" is a fine opinion - "nothing has happened for over a year" is a bit dumb.

But why would they throw phos out? They still need him for authentication, I wonder if he’s just bluffing to try and make Phos still want to work for them?

It sounds more like
>who told you to come back? didn't you say yourself you wouldn't?

It’s not exactly his fault, he should be yelling at Pads and Goshe for going down to get him without permission.

It's possible they are planning to mess with Phos' memories somehow and try to suppress Phos as a person whilst still being able to use his body for authentication.

Oh yeah Phos suffers, Cairn and Aechmea fuck, and Phos suffers. Riveting.

It's true that the last year was extremely frustrating and slow, as you said it seemed like an endless circle of suffering and fucking but we can't deny the fact that some interesting plot points were brought up. Now it all comes down to Ichikawa finally deciding to explore those interesting plot points or keeping fucking around like she has done for the last year or so.

And yet, still here you are. Impressive.

Attached: IMG_20190913_194011.jpg (1899x1855, 1.18M)

>endless circle of suffering and fucking

Attached: that's kind of hot.png (302x201, 14K)

We still had the biggest development the manga ever had.
The year after Ghost's death was even less filled with actual stuff happening, it's just that no one was reading it back then so people are pitching volumes they read in one go vs volumes they're reading at a monthly pace. Also the manga has used both the battles and romance solely for character development, but the badly choreographed battles in the early manga better are more appealing to shonentards because of the action I guess

> It's the 'moon gems stand around and say nothing for the person who brought them to the moon and allowed them to live their lavish lifestyles in the first place' chapter.

Man, is Euclase the only 'good' gem left?

>If only the gems didn't exist
Yes Phos, the only solution to this shit is killing everyone.

>forgetting based Nii-sama

Attached: 1561366891414.jpg (647x243, 84K)

I was wondering if he did indeed said that, ouch.

Ah, I forgot about Paddy, I guess he's fine too, and Goshe at least isn't as detestable as the others yet purely from the fact that he's as stupid as Phos.

Do you know what all the lines are in that pic? I can't really figure out the wording.

I'll be going there soon.
If only the gems didn't exist.

Really where else can the story go from here?

The context of the previous page is him talking about the dusted gems so "Houseki" in that quote may be reffering to them in particular.

Something like it all together meaning 'the other gems that were dusted, I'll be the same soon' / 'if only gems (as a whole) didn't exist' ?

I guess he really does just want to die now, makes sense all things considered.

I agree with you 100%, serialisation does make a big difference but I also think that at this point readers fell like the suffering is just too much (at least for us Phos stans) so we want a quicker resolution. Phos has always been an underdog but until recently he always had "friends" or alleys but now he is alone and no one except for Sensei seems to care about him. As I said Ichikawa brought up some really interesting plot points, probably the most interesting since the start of the story, I just hope she decides to explore them sooner than later.

Phos was a mistake

>(at least for us Phos stans)
Never agree with me again if you're going to type like the biggest, most disgusting nigger faggot ever holy shit

Within the next few chapters Phos is with 100 percent certainty going to have some sort of bodily development, maybe even in the very next chapter, so that's something at least.

I mean I doubt Achmea is actually going to throw him away, even if he admonished Phos for coming back without finishing the job, he's still the only thing that can activate Sensei as of right now, so I guess they may just use Red Dia or Paddy or something to fill in the huge ass chunks that he lost.

>all the surprise at the nihilism present in phos right now
Well, if we go all the way with the buddhist theme analysis we can take away a couple of things this past year of houseki has highlighted quite a lot.
Number one: given that life is characterized by suffering and that escaping from this seems to be impossible for every entity in houseki no kuni, the natural choice would be some sort of euthanasia plan.
This is aechmea’s whole thing, but it’s most likely doomed to fail.
Phos is also strongly feeling suicidal right now.
Point number two is the only way towards enlightenment is to suffer and to love. Phos is not yet enlightened but is well on his way.

I think the whole idea of wiping out the whole species will absolutely never work, and that the struggle we see happening right now is absolutely necessary for phos’ growth. You can’t skip this part of the story, and it serves to highlight the pitfalls of having an (incomplete) Buddhist mindset as well, namely that of the ideology/religion having some pretty nihilistic central tenets.

The librarians are long gone, they cannot be saved. Phos will 100% move past this plan, but it might take another 100 years of introspection and meeting with some wise men before that happens.

Paddy is on earth as far as we know, so Red Dia seems more likely, as much as I hate the idea of Phos having red hair.

I mean considering that Phos is missing basically half of his head at this point I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up with some kind of half shaved head scenario with the red of dia/paddy against the blue of Lapis.

Could be interesting, honestly.

Attached: 5121512521.png (458x645, 21K)

With phos they could use whatever alloy type thing they want, since his inclusions like everything.

I guess, but it feels like with the whole Buddhist treasure thing that Phos is apparently going by, they'd have to use something red.

>Could be interesting, honestly
Phos' entire design aesthetic is blue/cyan contrasted with gold. Red and blue just don't harmonise as well, especially when it comes to the hair which is a huge part of the somewhat minimalistic designs of the gems.

If he got red, he’d be complete, no? I don’t think phos is even close to complete.
He still has a way to go. I’m thinking diamonds.

Putting the seven treasures stuff and the fact we're expecting a new design soon aside, they probably have a ton of Synthetic Lapis and Phospohphyllite they can use for repairs anyway.

That's what I also thought, so I was thinking maybe synthetic gems won't adapt well to Phos and they'll have to use real ones? Otherwise I don't really see the need to use either Paddy (that seems on earth anyway) or red dia.

>maybe synthetic gems won't adapt well to Phos
Pearl eye?

Could be that one of the other gems does it for their own reasons.

Or maybe the Lunarians would know at this point that at least part of Phos's ability comes from the fact that he's changing through the addition of new materials as well as emotional trauma, so to fix him they use other gem parts to see what happens?

Could also be like some super outlandish shit like adding Red Dia to him so that he gets some of Reds memories about Sensei and maybe about how he broke in the first place or some crazy shit.

A single eye is nothing in comparison to the entirety of Phos but now he misses A LOT of chunks and as Rutile said his physical condition is pretty unpredictable. I guess we'll only have to wait and see.

Maybe it's bad to replace too much with synthetic gem since it's basically empty and unnatural.

Could also be thats why Paddy was put in suspended animation, like something bad happened/would happen since so much of him was replaced with fake Padparadscha

I mean Red Dia would cover both of those bases, and as things are, we don't know what potential plot revelations/character changes would happen if he got parts of Red Dia, could be that he becomes 'complete' sometime after receiving the transplant.

How many treasures Phos has collected so far is made deliberately vague, so we might in fact be missing two treasures and not just one.
>Gold
definitely acquired
>Silver
there are theories that it either hasn't been acquired since platinum isn't silver, or that it hasn't been "activated" as a treasure, and it will be in the future, where it will be made visible on Phos' body.

This is going to get somewhat confusing now.
>Pearl
Most likely acquired, although there are theories that the synthetic pearl Cintamani will be replaced by another, natural pearl in the future.
>Lapis-lazuli
Definitely acquired. That being said, some versions use blue Aquamarine instead of Lapis, which is a teal stone, like Phos.
>Crystal
It's unknown if phosphophyllite counts as this or not. In some versions of the seven treasures it's quartz. In some versions it's diamond.
Not only that, but in some versions it isn't crystal at all, but instead Coral/Shel/Agate, which is most likely acquired.
However, since they're both under the same category, it wouldn't be surprising if only one of the two stand-in treasures Phos has works for this one.
>Red (or not red) gem
This is sometimes Ruby, or sometimes a diamond, sometimes emerald, and sometimes ADAMANT.
In other words, it's really difficult to predict what new add-on Phos will get, if you're only working from the seven treasures.

Still, the others have somewhat plausible alternatives that Phos already possesses, but not anything red.

After this incident I don't see the lunarians wanting to just put Phos back together, they want to make a Phos that's stable and will do what they ask whilst still being able to activate Sensei. Mixing with a gem that's probably already effectively dead or has a better personality might be one way they could do it.

I’m thinking, due to the fact that phos is now 100% aligned with the moon, that he won’t receive a “wholesome” treatment, but rather a complete overhaul with robotics and metals involved. Armor could help deal with bortz at least. And thematically, a move away from humanity into the transhuman seems right up the moonies’ alley

But I mean, they can't really risk anything that will compromise his status as a 'human soul'. I can see them maybe mixing in a gem with a happier/more stable disposition ((like Red Dia maybe?)), but not something that makes him effectively dead, that's WAY too risky for what they need to do.

It keeps getting worse and worse

Attached: 8201.jpg (960x1379, 432K)

Why does Phos keep dealing with this shit. I'd go postal that all your "friends" don't give a fuck about your goal or just straight up betray you

Phos loves sensei and the gems, that's why he wants to get rid of the lunarins.

I think that story wise Red Dia would be the best candidate, they possess memories of the times where lunarians tried to negotiate instead of attacking the gems and they probably know quite a bit about sensei too. What I'm scared about is the fact that this choice (together with the Paddy one) seems a bit too predictable so I fear that Ichikawa will pull a fast one that we don't expect.

This is the first time in all the months you've been doing this, that I actually laughed. Congratulations user, you've irreversibly ruined my sense of humour.

Borgar arc is truly a masterpiece

>they want to make a Phos that's stable
Aechmea's whole plan was to make Phos feel as inestable as possible though.

Well, maybe Aechmea is going to change his plan after seeing how it turned out. Phos is literally unstable right now, he needs spider tendrils to just stay upright. It's seriously not working out for Aechmea.

Because pic related

Attached: Yasashii ko da.jpg (925x593, 46K)

Yeah Aechmea probably wanted an unstable but obedient Phos, now he has an unstable, depressed and probably unwilling to cooperate gem.

It's already the 24th in Area 11. Where's my chapter?

You and me both, user.

Chapter release is 25th isn't it? I thought 24th was just for last month?

Phos has no choice but to cooperate.

As begin..

Can we progress the story already?

Attached: Phos 06fce21ca7b68a79399344db0b5737b6.png (1000x1778, 2.57M)

I still wonder how a simple hairstyle change and a labcoat made Ame the hottest living gem by some margin.

At this point I doubt threatening Phos will work, and the restoration plan was cancelled. The only thing that would get Phos to cooperate would be to flat up say "yo keep helping us or we dust all your friends".

Yeah probably, but that's only if he still cares for the other gems and for himself.

Moonies will just go back to attacking gems if he doesn't, because they have no other way to make sensei pray.
Phos cooperating is the only way to actually save gems.

I mean in this case I think he'd work with them even knowing everyone will die, he pretty much just wants that now too.

La Ametista del Sexo was still hotter because of the wet hair effect even if she appeared for like two panels

Wait, was Phos crushed because he tried to break the gems?

>Chapter 82: Impulse/spur of the moment kinda

Since this page connects with this one>I'll turn into dust all the games
>that get in my way

I thought the ships didn't have an enclosed atmosphere which is why moonies never speak when they're inside of them because "they don't like the air". Is Cicada too sad to keep face or was that bullshit after all?

>Benito

Poor cicada ;_;

>alex just be like is something happening?

Pretty sure thats the endgame of the series, phos will lose all their parts and replaced by something else but someone will collect and assemble all original phos parts.

Who is the real phos? Who the fuck knows

>I'll turn into dust all the games
>that get in my way

Fuck yes.

That's a pretty fucked up version of the ship of theseus, and kinda like the dilemma with digitalizing someone's conscience, the one living longer against the pure, uncorrupted one.

Kill 'em all Phos
Race war now

The series keeps thematizing "what's lost cannot ever be regained" to the point that everyone feels sick of it and you think that a genki phosphophyllite Phos will magically be reassembled by the end of the series?

Because that would be a different Phos than our Phos, so technically it serves as a mirror to show just how much has been lost.

>genki phosphophyllite Phos will magically be reassembled by the end of the series
they'll do a pretend reset ending where every gem acts like nothing ever happened and old phos will be thrown in a vacuum or something

>Punished Phos arc
Well shit nigga, color me excited.

Attached: 1567805040912.jpg (500x669, 49K)

The chapter ends with
>treasure these 200 years of memories
So I don't think it's quite there yet.

>We'll makes ashes out of their diamonds

Even if all of Phos' pieces were recovered and reassembled, it wouldn't be Genki Phos. It would at best be something in between Pre-moon Phos and Post-moon Phos. The only part that would be genki would be the legs.

There's also the thing where Phos is possibly becoming less killable seeing how every gem needed to be fully reconstructed before regaining consciousness and heavy blows instantly incapacitate them, but Phos unwillingly awakened mid-reconstruction, much to Adamant's surprise, and has stayed awake even if he kept losing pieces during the flight

Attached: x23.jpg (1000x1440, 338K)

>treasure these 200 years of memories
Fucking hell, Phos going nuclear is pretty much the only thing to look forward to since every other plot point has collapsed into shit.

Isn't that phos power in the first place? Super active inclusions that just don't die?

Hope Phos starts with that piece of shit Shinsha.

What if Red Dia was 200 years old?

It's either referring to the time he spent on the moon or the time he spent locked up.

And the arms.

Oh shit

Sure, but it's possible that he's become even worse at dying. What sounded like a good thing at the start of the series is now more akin to a curse

Attached: Land of the Lustrous - c039 (v06) - p064 [Digital-HD] [danke-Empire].jpg (2146x3056, 1.56M)

Worth noting he could already go pretty much split in half during the game pieces fight.

I saw it coming
I fucking knew it was gonna be a mayonegg joke even before I clicked on the pic, but it still fucking got me
Why does this stupid fucking meme make me laugh so hard

>haven't read HnK in around a year

Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

Also did I mention I haven't been here in a year? Post gembutt memes please?

phos is garbage and deserves to suffer

Pleaseee Phos just dust them all starting with that bitch Cinnabar

You already know Shitsha won't die until the end of this series.

Wait, Pads didn't come back with them?

You're welcome

Why would you think otherwise? He did what he did to stall Ruchiru, but that would entail staying motionless on the spot.

Yeah, I think he is still on earth, maybe we will see him next month since in the last page of this chapter the bottom caption said sensei wants to tell something to the earth gems.

Cute monstrosity!

post it
please

So cicada was crying because of Goshe and not Phos? Fuck him

Thanks doc

Do we have full chapter in order in this thread?
Sorry, I have to ask before I start read it.

Attached: 1514435434569.jpg (850x850, 281K)

What were you expecting of Moonies? The only characters your can expect common human decency from at this point are Phos, Pads and to an extent Sensei (he is cruel through inaction), and to an even lesser extent Euclase.

Holy shit Phos
it just keeps on going, doesn't it

>through inaction
He just doesn't want to pray.
Moonies should move on.

Attached: 1535102901593.png (245x445, 89K)

No, there’s still some missing pages

I thought he was sad that Phos is broken but is still trying to be polite to Goshe at the same time by greeting.

Thank you!

Good lord.

How the hell did you come to that conclusion? It's obviously like said unless there's some heavy mistranslation going on
Don't forget that Phos and Cicada were so close that the other gems didn't really perceive a difference between those two and Karen&Aechmea

Attached: gay couple.png (455x329, 104K)

I meant that he's cruel to Phos through the inaction of not preventing the gems from utterly fucking Phos up and treating him like shit.
He has a legitimate reason not to pray.

Holy sex

i miss the cute phos so much

Attached: 1559570380774.png (1064x948, 559K)

So who is Phos gonna kill?

I don't think Phos will actually kill anyone.
Phos needs to calm down with some slugtits for a century or two before he goes over the point of no return

>he
dilate

Yeah I also think Phos wouldn't kill anyone, Aechmea on the other hand might get quite the inspired by Phos' words.

is that lotus seed pod thing supposed to look like a halo

Most probably, yes.

Who could you even kill on the moon, mindless slugs? Moonies have quick respawn and gems can be reassembled, while moon blunt weapons can one-shot Phos. That alone removes a lot of the tension from the scene.

>and gems can be reassembled
Unless you grind them into fine dust.

Not on the moon but on earth. What I think Phos was saying is that if the earth gems didn't interrupt him he would have been able to make sensei pray. I know I'm reaching a bit but Aechmea might get inspired by this and decide to mass genocide all gems on earth so that Phos can talk with sensei without interruptions.

Nice.

That would be cool. I know that Ichikawa's narrative pacing is all about anticlimaxes and detours but seeing as we just had one of those it'd be nice to escalate things on the basis of the reveal of what prayer actually does.

Attached: mfw.png (597x432, 115K)

Yes

Attached: 1542186331032.png (548x700, 334K)

That's a girl.

What's the matter user, afraid you might be gay for the rock cock?

Phos is just so lonely that she is open and inviting all the time.

> achmea carpet bombs earth dusting all the gems
> sensei has no reason go on, an heros himself

it would be a fun chapter at least.

>rock cock

Attached: 1551184836205.jpg (275x255, 11K)

>aechmea: wait we fucked up, we were supposed to goad him into killing (pray for) us moonies BEFORE he killed himself

>Aechmea: Well then, good thing we prepared Phos as a remplacement. Pray slave! pray!

Phos should actually try praying himself, maybe it'd do something.
The whole concept of praying is so nebulous, why can a robot pray but living beings cannot?

To be honest the reveal puts Aechmea's deeds in perspective. Like slowly breaking, torturing and kidnapping the gems over time was probably the most reasonable way to get to his goal.

Attached: b19.png (1114x1600, 973K)

>if we take everything from him, he'd have no choice but to pray

Lunarians could probably disappear on their own like Shiro did, right? In the end everything is their fault since they're not willing to overcome their nature

They should just kill sensei, once he's gone, lunarians would have no choice but to move on.

>Dios mio just look at the time

Attached: DQ2joOVVQAAoVwZ.jpg (1378x2039, 150K)

If it was at all possible for them surely at least a few of them would have been able to do it, right?

Anyone else get English vol.9? my local bookstore had it for sale even though it technically releases tomorrow. The cover is really ruined by not having the flaps

Not just that, it's specifically
>make him suffer so much that he'll believe that ending it all is better than having more gems taken

It's only speculation. Shiro literally wanted one simple thing and obtained it, I'm told humans don't work that way. We only know that nirvana is 100% real but we don't know how previous humanity used to reach it. If they could pull an Angel Beats you'd eventually have their entire race disappear too, which would mean a part of humanity would be forever lost. So I think the endgame is either 'nirvana is a bogus, pure land in this world is where the real thing's at' or humanity as we know it comes back in some form so the wheel of karma starts spinning again and the moonies passing on isn't that big of a deal anymore

Grinding doesn’t stop them from being assembled unless you scatter it and leave them for a hundred years as well.
Or scatter the dust in the ocean, that would do it too.

Full chapter when?

14 hours

cute!

I hope phos gets to kick in achmea's marshmallow skull so fucking bad. I hate him and I want him to be the one to suffer for a change.

We can't even say we hope he dies because that's what he wants.

He should get cut into 1000 tiny pieces like that dog and sealed away for eternity with nothing but his own thoughts to keep him company.

You know? I never was attached to Phos or anything but can't help to feels like a piece of shit of how miserable he's now, how all his effort seems to waste, all his friends look at him indifferently, how he's just a rusty tool with reasoning.

When did this series drop the comfy aspect? I know it's always been pretty dramatic and serious but there used to be a lot of nice character interactions too. Seems like there hasn't been that for quite some time.

Attached: D0DUQ6CVAAAPXHq.jpg orig.jpg (2048x1436, 554K)

It still has comfy moments, it's just that they leave a bad taste in everyones mouth instead of being enjoyble because it's other gems experiencing a happiness built on Phos's suffering.

Will they finally do something?

Attached: screenshot0035.jpg (1920x1080, 335K)

I understood the reference.

And yes, thats indeed a cute Ghost.

If I were drunk I actually might. Reading this shit actually hurts user.

tomorrow hopefully.

No.

I appreciate that Euclase at least WANTED Phos to be treated humanely/wanted to actually talk to him, but he still ended up pussying out because of the group majority.

Neither of them actually have the guts to do anything but ask tentative questions without any follow up.

Attached: 1558652751723.png (450x532, 236K)

Jade will die

That would be nice but probably not. Maybe it's for the best because if they become really plot relevant something terrible might happen to one of them.

pretty much yes

Nnaaaa. Imagine still waiting on chapter releases and spoilers.

So the lunarian prince deceived Phos all along. If Adamand pray, all three races will go to the grave.

Where do we go from there? And what will Phos do when he finds out? Does it even matter what he does?

imagine having to wait 6 months for the next chapter.

Honestly I don't think he cares anymore, he may even agree with Achmea's plan now since regardless of everyone else he just wants to die.

Zircutie arc when?

Attached: 1537925232317.png (1217x1963, 656K)

If it buttblasts reddit this hard again, I wouldn't even mind.

I wonder if there was ever a point where the moonies tried to fix Sensei? They said they used to try diplomacy and attempting to persuade him to pray, but maybe by the time they actually figured out he was busted they had already gone hostile?

Or maybe Sensei is just too complicated a machine even for the Lunarians.

The way I see it, he isn't broken at all. His problem is simply that he's too attached to the gems and doesn't want to kill them off.

That artstyle makes me think it's Tokyo Ghoul

Absolutely shit-tier taste, Phos.

Achmea said he's broken in that he can't control exactly who he prays away.

That was the issue, the reason he isn't praying now is because he can't JUST get rid of the Lunarians, it has to be everyone, so presumably before he was broken he had more control over who he used his power on.

>implying Phos would choose Cinna over Antarc

Attached: DrJi9lGV4AEsF48.jpg large.jpg (1687x1322, 145K)

>Phos
>calling anyone is the series but herself best girl

Honestly you have to admire Phos's self confidence to call himself cuter than Cairngorm even though at the point he said it he was an abomination mess of different materials.

That's because it's true. Even in the current chapter Phos is the cutest.

I guess at that point he at least still had Lapis's pretty face, now though...

Attached: 21521512.jpg (252x251, 45K)

Cute. CUTE!

Attached: 1558395332302.jpg (451x442, 92K)

Cornworm is the ugliest gem, and also the most annoying.

FINALLY, A PERSON OF CULTURE.

After the decision to go to the moon the first time.

Why is the eyeball so huge, it wasn't that big when Aechmea showed it right?

This, even with the wedding chapter and the moon gems having their shenanigans, the moon in general is just too eerie and hollow to actually feel comfy.

One has to wonder if Phos was conscious during his imprisonment. I'd like to think he wasn't due to gems seemingly going into comas when broken into pieces but that wouldn't explain the instant despair once Adamant put him back together.

Attached: 1533255948286.jpg (2000x2678, 574K)

its just stylisation.

Though I guess you could make the argument that either part of his face is missing so you see the larger part of the eye, or when sensei put Phos back together it was a really shoddy job since he just kind of cobbled the parts together that he could get.

The timeskip seemed to barely even register for him. The first thing he said was literally finishing the word he got halfway through saying before being torn to pieces.

Being broken into that many pieces there's no way he was traditionally conscious, but I think he can still figure that he must've been broken by someone since he just woke up somewhere else. Plus gems at least may have the inkling that they've been 'asleep' for a really long time.

Ok fellow gembutts where do I start learning about Buddhism

This is giving me Junji Ito flashbacks.

Being rock is suffering

Their eyes are very big, and he has been chipped everywhere except the eye

>chipped everywhere but the eye
Hmmm

It's literally true. Not only is Phos canonically good looking, Cairngorm is only somewhat attractive, even after getting full facial surgery from Aechmea.

>craig being body modded
this part will never not be creepy. fuck aexhmea that pedo fuck

Ehm, all gems are supposed to be beautiful, retarded Phos-waifufag.

AAAAAAAA
I LOVE PHOS

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH SO DO I!!!

Attached: 1548855973116.jpg (695x818, 59K)

I'd say I like Phos, but what I really like is Phos' suffering and ever changing nature

Attached: 1545952487659.png (265x414, 71K)

Literally just looks like he ran a buffer over her

Attached: 532151353.png (239x797, 52K)

To be fair though, Cinnabar at least had the worst looking hair in the anime, I don't know why but they just couldn't get the physics of it right.

He prolly fixed her proportions, made her more child-like. The sick fuck

> Not loving the tomboy look

Achmea truly is evil.

I miss Happy Phos :(

Me too, but that dumbass is long gone at this point.

Stylization plays a huge part in it but we're also seeing the whole eyeball instead of just the part that's usually visible from the outside. Gems' eyeballs also seem to be shaped more like actual spheres

Doesn't the majority of readers usually complain about pretty much the opposite of this? That the island was a cool setting because it felt eerie and hollow whereas the moon feels too much like our world?

Attached: top nep.jpg (340x779, 139K)

I don't know about others, but that's how it felt to me at least, the Earth was at least comparatively more comfy since at least the environment was normal, and you can somewhat settle in to the gems' weird daily life just surviving and doing their thing like they do every year.

But the moon is such a stark and empty contrast, harsh black/white clashes, really weird architecture, and even the environments that look somewhat like mordern day buildings still come off as creepy because they have that weird cloudy effect that lets you know all of it is basically a facade. The creepy/lonely effect of the moon only gets exacerbated since it's shown constantly how alone Phos feels, and how he's constantly being alienated by what's going on around him.

Doesn't help that, even with all the moon people being outwardly friendly and human like, every scene with them in it is just kind of off since the reader has the knowledge that everyone there have almost totally given up and just want to die and turn into nothing.

Agree. Tsundere tomboy is great

>Tomoyo is doing her bratty Phos voice in the new Uchikoshi game
I really love that voice of her.

That's how I perceive it too and I can't help thinking it's the vibe Ichikawa's going for, I just pointed out that it doesn't seem to work for many anons. Although I suspect some just aren't paying attention, I can't deny that that's how people seem to feel.
A second season of the anime never would probably make the contrast much more visually clear as one would be forced to notice how different the full b/w is from the colourful earth

Attached: houseki08.jpg (1920x1080, 282K)

What are the chances of moonshits actually actually create such an exotic and desirable looking Phos that Achmes ditches his pet nigger?

Attached: 1567052156517.jpg (1024x1024, 118K)

Can you imagine a moon where the only colour is in the gems, both alive and dusted?

That's a cool thought

I think both the earth and the moon are eerie, but in different ways. The earth has an uncanny feeling to it initially, but you get comfortable with it pretty quickly because danger only occurs at clearly announced points in time (moonie attacks), and the characters feel safe. It's only way later on that the earth has again started to feel threatening, because more facets of the gems' lack of humanity have been explored recently.
The moon on the other hand is never safe, none of the people there are trustworthy, and everything looks sterile and unnatural. Phos pretty much has a metaphorical gun to her head at all times while there, since Aechmea is capable of killing him instantly. We're immediately made aware of all this. But gradually the moon starts to feel somewhat more comfortable, until it has almost reached the point where it feels safer than earth.

Extremely dificult, since Aechmea has an special motive for picking Crab over all the much prettier gems. Dia is on the moon and she's so pretty the moonies turned her into a idol.

I don't think it'll ever feel as comfy as earth as long as we have the knowledge that everyone there is only continuing to work and pretending things are fine while harbouring the deep intense desire to die and become nothing, everything they do feels hollow because of it, even the wedding.

As it is, at least Earth's environment is alive with the plants and the weather and the gems fit in more there as natural parts of the planet moreso than they do on the moon, which is more or less still just a field of gem dust, ghosts and buildings made out of wispy fluff, everything feels ephemeral.

Chapter in 2 hours and 40 minutes!

Cute new Phos design in 770 hours and 34 minutes. Or 1490 hours if we get an earth chapter.

Does the island even have actual trees? I remember the dead trees forest in the manga (where the anime set the "Dia doing jumping tricks with camera work" sequence) but that's it.

Not sure if they are alive or dead?

Attached: Houseki_no_Kuni_v01_008.jpg (2146x3056, 1.35M)

I think the idea is that there's at least a few small patches of trees/bush around the place, the fact that they're still there seems to imply that they must be able to grow for at least some parts of the year, though to be honest we don't see that much landscape exploration to begin with.

Regardless, it's a pretty tiny island anyway, so I guess it just doesn't have the ability to support consistent tree growth, but at least because of bits of info here and there that it still has a working ecosystem, even if it is limited due to the space/weather.

Still miles more 'alive' and thriving than the moon though.

Depends I guess? upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/53/USO-xx_and_Zolotoniski-xx_hemp_strains_015.jpg

Seems consistent with the plants on the island being mostly grasses and shrubs n shit.

Maybe a cluster of small trees here and there, though they seem to spend a lot of time bare.

Apparently there are or at least were sand storms? Not sure if trees can grow with those.

I wonder of where this meme of Red Dia psychopathy comes from? It's funny, but it seems out of nowhere lol...

Attached: 6f2e491d-0b03-4c32-b02c-d39314db458f.jpg (968x1920, 271K)

Are these weird things mushrooms or stones?

Attached: Houseki_no_Kuni_v09_ch064_015.png (1114x1600, 388K)

Makes me think Red Dia was REAL old, like, before the island formed a proper ecosystem, as from the overhead pics we know basically everything is covered in grass now.

Maybe when he was born the earth was still recovering from the environmental effects of the most recent extinction event?

>it's a pretty tiny island anyway
How big is the "school"? Then we could estimate how big the island is.

thanks god for that post-apocalyptic loom Kongo just had lying around...

Well if that's the school then I'd say its pretty small. I think some user tried to take measurements to build the school in minecraft or something, but I don't know what came of it.

Attached: 5555.jpg (620x349, 47K)

About 44 meters tall according to Orange.

Guess there were a couple trees that he could make that with then.

IIRC Yellow Dia is two/three thousand or so years old, and she's always described as "eldest of the gems." So Red Dia has to be even older.

Then judging from it's about 200m wide. Now to calculate the island's circumference...

definitely, though I just wonder how far back this shit goes, especially since the birth of new gems usually only comes around every few hundred years at best, yet the Lunarians got enough gem dust to cover the entire fucking moon.

>yet the Lunarians got enough gem dust to cover the entire fucking moon.
I don't think they covered the entire moon? I think the moon was already covered in dust, and they mixed the gem dust with that?

Closer to 140m going by the artbook I got the number from.

> yfw you will never see Red Dia and Sensei bonding by carving out a castle for Flourite.

Attached: 1112312421214.jpg (620x348, 45K)

People made jokes that Red Dia was the one who attacked the moonies first, and from there it just got better and better.

I estimate with great certainty that Red Dia was born at least 10.000 years ago.

And that's why all the trees on the island are dead.
