A gun isn't that great without guided demon bullets, can buy you an opening at best if you splatter their head and takes up your main hand. Probably best for dealing with slower-moving, slower-regenerating weaker demons reliably. Nichirin pellets probably wouldn't do a whole lot, since they won't cleanly sever the entirety of the wound.
A halberd with a long, bardiche-type blade might work well enough, too, assuming you could use the pole to maintain distance without the demon just snapping it.

I sorta liked Douma's fight because it didn't rely on characters pulling new skills out of their asses. The way Shinobu defeated him - by poisoning herself, knowing that he would eat her because of foreknowledge - was the closest thing the series had to a strategic plan actually working. Plus, him not being able to "transform" the same way Akaza did while it was dying because he had no heroic resolve was fitting for his character. His inability to feel anything was both his strength and weakness.
Kanao and Inosuke's involvement were somewhat superfluous though, boiled down to stalling him and then cutting his head off at the last minute. I wish there had been more of a reason for them to actually fight him.

I guess. It doesn't exactly negate the fact that all their fighting before the poison kicked in was essentially wasted. With Douma's character, they could've probably just as easily stalled him by taking him up on his usual shit and chatting him out, discuss combat, philosophy, life, love, or whatever. It would've made for an unbelievably shitty chapter, but it would've made more sense than getting yourself injured actively trying to kill an overpowered demon when you know a poison debuff is going to kick in any minute.
