At first, yes.

>Meanwhile one arc prior Gohan had zero issue murdering Freiza soldiers, even when not enraged

Did he?

he kicked one into the water and let him drown

That was so last arc Gohan.

That's if his neck and skull weren't crushed before hitting the water

No, he only said that because Cell asked him what he meant by the fight being meaningless. Gohan never actually refused to fight Cell, he jsut wasn't crazy about it like Goku was, which was kind of the point.

They were screaming before they hit the water

In a roundabout way, yes.
>Gohan can kick Cell's ass easy if he goes mad
>Gohan can only go mad if his friends get their asses beat real bad
>If Gohan doesn't go mad, others will jump in, get their asses beat by Cell, making Gohan go mad anyway
So Cell fighting seriously is a situation where Cell loses his life and Gohan possibly loses his friends. It's just not worth fighting from Gohan's perspective.

I mostly agree, but I don't think Gohan necessarily refused to fight Cell because of that, he just wanted to warn him and see if he would back down first so that fighting wouldn't have to happen. He doesn't give two shits about what happens to Cell, he just says he isn't crazy about him being the one to do something about it.

True, he wanted Cell to quit rather than refuse outright.
Cell and some viewers (including me) thought he was just bluffing.

Never was a fan for how OOC this was. Gohan was never a pacifist, he was just a scared little boy who always fought to the death when push came to shove.

It's almost like Toriyama doesn't know how to write.

Three or four years had passed since then and the battle on Namek was one of the most traumatic experience of his life. People start to have more complex thoughts as the grow older.

The barbarism of the Saiyan Invasion and Namek arc were Gohan's first foray into fighting. He wasn't introduced to the sportsmanship aspect of things until later on. Cell is putting on a tournament, so even though he says he's going to annihilate the Earth, on the surface it looks exactly like what it sounds like, a game.

That is until Gohan's friends and family are attacked and someone - anyone at all, loses their life. Everything about the SSJ2 transformation makes perfect sense and has multiple points of reference leading up to it.

he literally never gave a shit about fighting for fun.
Hence he became saiyaman to use what super power he has to some daily life use by helping others, but not as a profession

He's just not a natural fighter like his dad. Goku just always wanted to train and fight the strongest people, gohan just wanted to chill and study and have a normal life.

>Three or four years had passed since then and the battle on Namek was one of the most traumatic experience of his life
Everyone who he saw die came back, completely unphased by their deceased status.
There is nothing to fear or worry about when magic dragons can fix all their problems

Yandere lolis are so hot.

My dick when "LEEAAVEE MY DAADDDDY AAALLOOOOOONE.".

Too bad no one wished for Gohan to be cured of his trauma and fuckboyism.

just fucking hit that Gohan is actually a pretty realistic character in the sense that since he was pretty much raised single mother since Goku was always somewhere fighting some alien so Gohan turned out to be a massive pussy because no father figure, and no Piccolo for a few episodes doesn't count
