Why arent anime protagonists ever religious?
Why arent anime protagonists ever religious?
Because Japan is pagan
Don't they go to shrines?
I think buddhism, shintoism and christianity are the biggest three there
The Japanese go to shrines new year day, go to temples in August, and churches in Christmas.
Religious characters are difficult to sympathized by Japanese people.
Japan isn't particularly religious in the way that most organized religions demand, and the last time the Japanese government really pushed an organized religion, State Shinto, it was tied to the fascist imperial state. Even most ultranationalists aren't particularly keen to restore that element of the Empire.
The Christian community in Japan is minuscule. It might be one of the biggest in East Asia but that really isn't saying very much.
>churches in Christmas.
No, they go to KFC.
Japanese don't view religion like most Westerner, they see it as tradition but not a lifestyle. Live as atheist, marry as Christian and die as a Buddhist
Also anything resembling organised religion in modern Japan is generally likely to fall under the concern of cult status, as in with Aum Shinrikyo.
Some Anime antagonists are strictly religious. For example, Strike the Blood.
But MC and his friends have no interest in the religion.
They have samurai which are like a warrior cult
I've actually started to see those same Jehova's Witnesses that hand flyers in the UK in Kyoto this year. Bizzare as fuck.
>>No, they go to KFC.
Nice joke.
I saw them around Tokyo station earlier this summer. That said, still seems pretty rare and it's not like anyone was queuing up for it, most people I know view it with suspicion or indifference. Happy Science shit, now that's worrying, I was staying right next to one of those and as far as I can tell it's nip own-brand Scientology or something. Weird.
Who said anything about jokes?
Jehova is son annoying.
When I lived in Japan, the most irritating thing is old fanatic ladies who come my home every weekend.
Osamu Tezuka did an entire manga on the life of Buddha. I think he was agnostic, but was ultimately more of a practitioner of Buddhism than of Shinto or the Buddhism/Shinto mix that most Japanese do.
Jehovas are a scam based on a rewritten bible
The most accurate answer in this thread.
Jehovas, Mormons, and Souka Gakkais are incredibly annoying in Japan.
I believe Happy Science is the most strange, suspicious, and absurd religion in Modern Japan.
Bozebeats got cancelled.
Bizarro cults used to get wiped out. Protestantism should have died at birth.
*Christianity should have died at birth.
Kimi no nawa was pretty religious.
Most japanese aren't religious in the same way christians and muslims are "religious".
*islam
*All Abrahamic cults
Islam would have probably never become a thing if not for christianity.
Also this. Polytheism is still the only good kind of religion.
Because keep your religious propaganda and puritan agenda in America where it belongs and don't infect anime with it.
I agree.
I hate the religion has generated sorrow and depression.
Oh, someone buzzes my intercom.
Why doesn't the real true god just descend and tell us which religion is right?
*gasses your subway station*
the first thing about faith is that you just gotta believe in its doctrine without questions, so asking for justification meanings you aren't believing hard enough
m'lady
>duhhhhhhh if he dares to doubt the book written by kikes 2000 years ago he's edgy
I too remember the time when christfag was taking the words in the book literally
now they got nothing expect for muh "you can't prove god doesn't exist"
The leap of faith is a concept in philosophy.
I don't read either of those, I read the arabic one, which confronts the jews, muslims and christians about the problems with their faith.
Based and redpilled
Nothing has caused so much destruction as abrahamic death cults
Why doesn't a teacher just tell you all the answers to the questions in your exam?
>No, they go to KFC.
So church.
I dunno man I think GATE's author would totally be down for that.
Isn't it electrifying?
What do you mean?
Most Japs are pagan(Shinto), there are plenty examples of anime protagonists going to shrines, performing rituals, believing in youkai' etc
Budism is the second biggest thing and there are plenty Buddhist anime characters
In the late 90s, people were really afraid religious stuff thanks to Asahara.
Because they're paid to not do that.
Only Shintoism is relevant, but people are more secular. Buddhism is like a fad to them and Christianity is not even popular with the japanese.
Proselytizing is at odds with Japans creed of "don't bother other people."
*Atheism
Why is knowing the Rightful Truth an exam, fuckwit?
>What is faith?
historyguide.org
Friedrich Nietzsche, The Parable of the Madman (1882)
>God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him.
>Buddhism is like a fad
Completely wrong. Buddhism and Shintoism are sincretic to each other in Japan thanks to how they roughly complement and influence each other (for instance, there is no concept of a Buddhist wedding, so it's easy to split festivities with Shinto = celebrating life, Buddhism = observing death). That being said, Buddhism has historically always been the dominant of the two religions up until the Meiji reforms and the formation of the "Cult of the Emperor" at the end of the 19th century, which was full-on Shinto.
It was by no means a "fad", but by far and away the most powerful and influential religion in the region. That being said, though, the Japanese have a different approach to religion altogether, as mentioned.
>Why arent anime protagonists ever religious?
Because they usually want MCs to be good people.
Anime is a weapon of mass retardation
Anime and manga are cultural weapons that seek to keep people entertained with useless shit instead of reading redpilling books. But some aren't just mindless distractation, have you noticed how anime likes to push frankfurt school subversion shit like incest, lesbians, traps ect (read Max Horkheimer, the left needs to destroy the family unity and traditional values)? Why such a big number of anime and manga like to paint demons as the good guys and spit in the face of christianity? Why do they do the same shit satanic companies do to try destroying youth morals and intelligence?
People say jews own the porn industry and use it as a weapon to destroy the minds and spirit of men, but isnt the same true to anime degeneracy such as hentai and ecchi? Whereas porn induces autogynephilia, anime can induce pedophilia (lolicons shit)
Notice how almost if not all anime characters got big round eyes (so big it's even E.T tier) and white features on contrary of real japs with their slant eyes and asian features, doesnt that tell you who is the target audience?
Also, why japan would be based like some of you like to say? How come second generation happas and meximutts whorship a nation of weak cucks, Herbivore Men, hikikomoris, incels, depression, suicide, used panty worshiping, dakimakuras, absolute degeneracy in media, adults watching cartoon porn and playing video games, materialism, and overwork to the point of seppuku.
The same could said about videogames and television, weapons to weaken humanity
Japan ain't religious, duder.
Because RELIGION BAD
Nowadays, the only reason for religion to exist in fiction is for the """shocking""" reveal that the church (which totally isn't Christianity, I swear) is evil.
After the Christchurch shooting I had JW going door to door in town trying to get people to come to a prayer meeting. They specifically reworded it so you wouldn't think it was JW, but I knew these two bitches from all the doorbell rings over the years. A cult is a cult, no matter what you call it.
Japan kinda funny that you can't really describe the loose collection of ideologies in a nutshell. Colbert's book that described Shintoism like Pokemon may have been my favorite. "There's a god for trees, but also a god for each individual tree." cracks me up and reminds me of my days teaching there.
He did, 2000 years ago
proofs?
The christchurch shooting was such a duplicitous charade. you only have to look at the footage of the second attack to realise the truth of that.
Do you have a moment to talk about our lady and saviour, Homura Akemi?
>the real true god just descend
You wont believe him anyway.
if it was almightly it would be very easy to prove he is a god
if he isnt almighty, then its a worthless god
God is for losers
You're too blind to notice anyway.
>Has limbs taken by God
>Has had a conversation with God
>Has socked God in the stomach
>Still a sworn atheist
Can't spell based without Ed
But the people in this site are mostly fedora tipping atheist. Hmmm..
MC of Faraway Paladin
>Fedora tippers are too dumb to even decipher his cartoons.
Sasuga
Based
>write this but post a character from a gambling mobile phone "game"
dumb /pol/tard
Because they know all religious people are delusional nutcases and depict them as such.
Islam became a thing completely independent of christianity.
You are to report, not respond
It was a joke about the character chill I'm actually christian
won't happen again sorry user
you should look into the supposed role of the roman catholic church in founding islam
I'm too sane for rambling conspiracy theory youtube channels
conspiracytards don't help things but there is evidence to suggest some early connection.
*tip*
He already did
Original
Okay. So?
Atheism isn't a religion or a movement
Says the walking talking stereotype.
>a duplicitous charade
?
there are videos from the second mosque of the imam walking around the room pouring a bottle of fake blood onto "dead bodies" that are playing on their phone and checking facebook
This. Their intolerance against LGBTQQIP2SAA people is so...ugh I can't even
>Polytheism is still the only good kind of religion.
>He doesn't monotheistically worship the one god among a pagan pantheon whose domain he finds most important
>believing in anything written 2k years ago
okay?
greco-roman mathematical papers and philosophy?
they're at least provable and not fairy tales
But they do do that in the lengthy classroom phase. If an exam covers material that was not mentioned in any lecture/assignment/reading your teacher is a fucking asshole.
>causes the dark ages
psh.. nihil personneli
Common sense
Thats not exactly "belief".
The dark ages are a myth like the "islamic golden age"
if they're a myth then why did they happen
Math has evolved considerably since the day of ancient Greece. And even if it is the foundation of western philosophy, nobody expect massive hipsters actually try and follow any of the major philosophical movements of that time.
Monotheistic worshiping a deity from a polytheistic religion is, in my opinion, one of the most based ways to live your life.
Not NEVER
Imaging your waifu being a Yamato Nadeshiko goddess.
Studying His creation in general and the bible in particular is your classroom phase. The exam of life covers nothing that isn't open for you to learn and apply.
Are you a moron, is 90% of the people ITT morons? What do you think all those fucking shrines and shit are for...aesthetics? There's a ton of religious-based anime with religious protags/MCs. Just because it isn't Christian doesn't mean it isn't religious.
I only quickly checked out part one but all I see was pre-dark age christian art and codes.
Christians don't respect or understand other religions, user. Anything that doesn't follow their own warped idea of worship is "not religious" in their eyes.
>What do you think all those fucking shrines and shit are for...aesthetics?
Yeah, that sounds about right.
Except that this thread is filled with atheists praising anime's lack of religion
aren't most of the characters in fire force religious?
two realistic choices
religion/spiritualism or destructive hedonism
Ahem
when does a cult become a religion?
There's a difference?
That´s because a lot of atheists don´t understand religion either. Especially the ones that make a big deal out of their own atheism.
Somebody obviously hasn´t read nietzsche.
*judaism
link?
Neither do religeous people.
Most people nowadays use religion as pseudo-virtue signaling of being part of the conservative club.
Nobody I know that calls themselves religious and is christian actually believes in the big sky wizard.
The status of religion has become similar to that of declaring your favorite football club.
>I-I-IT DOESNT COUNT
Fucking kek
Every religious character in anime is ether scheming or starving.
>atheist telling other how religious people feel
>doesn't say how most degenerates and gays are atheists
Retard.
Nah Christianity isn't all that bad the problem is that Christ cucks today and before have made an embrassement of Christianity and subverted it's original teachings. If any religion deserves dying it should be Judaism.
Well, duh. If you have even a decent education, the christian idea of god is ridiclous. In the same way still seriously believing in Thor or Zeus is ridiclous. The only people that still genuinely believe are either insane, poorly educated, or part of some weird new age cult.
Yeah believing the universe was created by an explosion out of nothingness sure is better.
>doesn't say how most degenerates and gays are atheists
Why the fuck would you follow a religion that goes against your own interests? Assuming that you like being gay/kinky sex, then what possible reason could you have to be religious?
>You need to believe in math
Holy fuck I know religious people are dumb but this is next level. Is this how Americans think?
Dude dont bother responding.
>greentext
LMAO
is the laziest form of non-argument you can find on Yea Forums.
I don't actually believe that. Nor does it have anything to do with the christian idea of god being ridiclous. There are tons of theories regarding the nature of the universe, spiritual or otherwise, that I think are stupid.
No, Churches is a different brand.
I wish religion evolved alongside technology instead of distancing itself from it. It would be cool if modern people started making modern traditions instead of adhering strictly to the old ones. Like imagine some shinto rituals involving holographic imagery as a miko dances and orchestrates the play of lights. Or robotic buddhist monks powered solely by sunlight placed on various mountains, dispersing randomized wisdom and advice for renouncing material pleasures. Or a small church which during holidays turns into a mecha, rings a giant bell and then disperses "holy light" (candles) for folk to take.
Religion should inspire or leave people in awe imo, though I'm not religious so I'm probably just talking out of my ass.
That goes pretty much against the core ideas of religion, which formed over traditions.
Or in other words, by preserving certain life styles and ritualistic actions.
Religion is going to come back eventually once the old ones all die off. As long as there are still unanswered questions remaining, people will look for ways to answer them. And as long as the existence of some kind of higher power cannot be disproven, some of those answers will be spiritual in nature.
Traditions without value or meaning have no future. To preserve something just for the sake of preserving it is a pointless, and ultimately fruitless, effort.
>Why doesn't a teacher just tell you all the answers to the questions in your exam?
She does lmao, it's called lectures retard.
Who do think invented all that tech? vikings and nomads? religious people can do science as well.
the monasteries of europe were key preservers distributors and researchers of knowledge over the last 1000 years scholarly monks were incredibly important
it is no coincidence that darwin was a priest or gregor mendel a monk
>based and redpilled
You can fuck off now.
I hope we can avoid the islamisation, the very core of that faith idolises a 7th century warlord and seems determined to drag any society that follows it back to that time period.
"god doesn't exist" isn't a good enough answer anymore, start thinking deeper on why religion exists and what each religion is trying to tell you. The bible is basically just a story and if you want to get something better than existentialism in life then it's time to start asking more fundamental questions.
>The bible is basically just a story
A story based on reality of the time period like every other mythology.
The movement and wars of the time fit those stories perfectly.
Hindu is a good example of this.
Because japs are so bad at zealotry that they can't make a character religious without being either a full-blown nutjob or just a costumed slut.
Are you implying that only agnostics/atheists pass god's test?
>religious people can do science as well.
Just because religious people pushed for the evolution of science in society, doesn't change the fact that religion itself didn't evolve too much.
If they're so technologically apt they should apply it to their religion. They probably won't though, because the "mysticism" and "spiritualism" is a big part of it, and melding it with the mundane and modern kinda diminishes that aspect.
The fucking happy cult... i dont even know where to start with those mental nutcases
No. The whole point of all Abrahamic religions is that afterlife is what matters.
Nothing's stopping you from worshiping robots and machines.
They don't interfere with the supernatural either not like you would change your mind if you don't believe it anyways.
And the process to be a good person.
Because Shinto and Buddhism are more like lifestyles rather than worshiping religions.
To be fair, those were brainlet responses to the point made. A thing (objects, a tradition, ideas) doesn't lose inherent value just because the thing is old. Just the opposite, those things which are still around were judged by many to have merit, and continues on for that reason while many new things meant to replace it come and go.
please go back to your containment website
Those heathen elevens are not ready to understand the glory of the Emperor,
40k anime WHEN
>Anime is based when it doesn't pander to Westerns expect for when it doesn't have MY religion
Imagine if all cities were as good as Serene...
Because he made Earth then fucked off to make other stuff. He simply bored and doesnt give a fuck probly or even remember what he done
Free will is a myth. Religion is a joke. We're all pawns, controlled by something greater. Memes. The DNA of the soul.
The universe is illusory, the sky is changeable, and many were trapped in it.
How about "full of shit". Is that a meme?
