And despite that, he was kicking Aizawa´s butt. The same guy who specifically trained martial arts like crazy since he was pretty much Quirkless, good enough to beat down big mutants in the USJ attack with his bare fists.
And Shigaraki was matching him with low effort and speed-blitzing the students.

It always baffled me since he looked like a weak NEET and even to this day he gave that impression, only recently did he seriously train with Gigantomachia.
It´s either Horikoshi not being very consistent with his drawing, or Shigaraki is naturally overpowered (I'm leaning on this one considering his flashback ,he was leaping like a mad dog since being a kid)

The girls aren’t bad per se but Hori barely fucking writes about them. Any series with a predominantly male cast and male character interactions typically has a fanbase that consists mostly of fujos - news at 11. Meanwhile Deku/Ochako is boring as shit, it reeks of the most basic, obligatory shounen love interest garbage so the readers don’t feel compelled to create lots of fan content for them. I mean their pairing (DekuxOchako) is so irrelevant that I can't even see it "set in stone" and I wouldn't be surprised if a new girl came out of nowhere and became the actual love interest for Deku. Maybe on the 2nd or 3rd year that could happen, there's still more schools and hero internships and missions. Or perhaps it's a girl we already know getting more development and scenes.
Deku x Ochako could very well become the next Naruto x Sakura, Ichigo x Rukia or Harry x Hermione in that everyone thought it'd happen by default at the end of the story but in the end they truly were just friends.

Deku/Ochako resembles Ichigo/Orihime more. There’s a crush, few meaningful moments or conflict, it’s a kinda blatantly insinuated endgame but the dynamic is so horrendously uninspired and simultaneously shoved in your face that the fanbase couldn’t be arsed to actually create huge amounts of content for the ship.

I can´t dispute this, I thought as much when typing my post but that would mean they would end up together and that destroys my narrative. But yeah it's the same, it's too obvious but uninspired so if the writer suddenly wanted to write good romance he could just pair the protagonist with a different character and no one would complain.
Who knows, Deku getting into music and starting to hang out with Jirou would have been actual character development. Or Bakugou for that matter, it'd be cool if the next time he showed up he was listening to Deep Dope on his mp3.
If Deku got paired with Mei he could get more into using gadgets and maybe helping out Mei creating more stuff and giving her ideas.
But Ochako provides nothing interesting like that

Sailor Moon, Star Wars, Harry Potter, you start out with a protagonist who seems normal, winds up being put in abnormal situations, and has to bring forth inner powers and strengths as they grow to face the challenge. Deku has an additional facet in that his power wasn't inborn, as with the others, it was given to him because he was deemed worthy; and now he's under tremendous pressure, mainly internal, to live up to that. People rage at the show because it isn't what they want it to be; I watch the show to find out what it is.
