Amagi blows in comparison to the classic KyoAni works. It literally only stands out cause it was created around the same period as fucking Kyoukai no Kanata and Phantom World, in a vacuum it's pretty average but next to those and other shit like Free it looks like a damn masterpiece.

Yes, they'll probably be able to somehow finish the first movie in the not too distant future. But getting a second season (that doesn't look too much worse than the first) made from scratch, in the condition they're in? Not happening for a decade at least, and that's being optimistic.
As for the rest, you're free to delude yourself regarding the staying power of VEG and how many of the tickets were sold out of pity (for reference, the last Free! recap movie more than doubled its sales after the fire. But that goodwill ain't lasting 10 years).
