The sad thing is it did a lot of things right. But I don't know why they tacked on the "BUT IS HYAKKIMARU EEEEVIL?" shit. In the original manga it was never even implied that his quest was anything but just.

And yeah, they really reduced Dororo's brattiness.

This remake is the epitome of bad modern tropes; they tried to make the story more serious and darker but if just fall flat, being shallow and stupid.

The few good things/changes I like about it, was the detailed explanation of how Hyakkimaru "sees", Hyakkimaru not being fully knowledgeable about the ways of the world (however they took it to the extreme and made him mentally retard) and the occurring appearance of the blind priest.

He had a third brother? I've read the original and I'm pretty sure it was just him and Tahomaru.

All Hyakkimaru family died (inculding his two OKACHA) his, his brother and his stupid guardians make contact with the last demon taking Hyakkimaru last body parts. Hyakkimaru leave Dororo to go on journey to learn how to be human, meanwhile Dororo takes her father money to build new village without any means of defense. Finally, briefly shown older Dororo and Hyakkimaru meet again.

Then why does he looks so much older? Hyakkimaru was only 14, and there's at least 9 months between each kid. He can't be much older than 12.

Have you read the manga? He later asks Daigo if he could join his clan and he accepts. Daigo never saw this dude before.
Also his name was probably given by his own father because he was the third son, not because Tezuka wanted to imply Hyakki and Tahoumaru had a brother, otherwise the plot would have moved forward in that direction.

Ending was mediocre. Even if the rest was great, which it was, that tends to color the way you see the rest of the show.

ok ima go on a rant about the industry and you may not like it as this isnt all 100% confirmed by any one but its true. ok the studio was founded by some people. among them were a few hapas. they had dreams. when shit was sort of going well 2 other studios did a smear campaign using a female who worked there. she was dating and they made her out to be a whore and another guy got into some legal trouble at the studio then almost every one bailed on the place. some one who worked there made a story and just as a "im sorry but not really but i will say im sorry" sort of gesture they paid for it

He's following Daigo because he wants to be one of his samurai, pic related is when he has the opportunity to impress him and get rid of his ronin status. Just to be BTFO a minutes later.
Anyway the point is, your theory about him being another son of Daigo is nonsense.

Ending was a hot garbage, the finale was retarded too. Most of the show was watchable but barely. Animation was ok.

It was quite well received, people who watched it considered it their aots and all. But the season was overall quite weak, so people didn't bother to spam threads. Also lots of people lost interest after the quality drop in the 2nd cour.

It's weird. The first cour was better than the second one. But the season of the second cour was worse. Meaning both times, the show was one of my favorites.

Definitely great OP, but I wouldn't say it's the best thing about Dororo.

I'm sucker for journey/quest stories, unfortunately many of them have no/shitty ending.

It was fine the first few episodes but then we started getting QUALITY episodes and Hyakkimaru just became a complete cunt as he recovered his body parts.

More like his surroundings and the forced "breaking the contract will have terrible communes" subplot due to anime Daigo being shit character and the annoying moral ambiguity theme going on.

They kept his character as dumb autistic emo~edgelord instead of developing it, but you know, they just had to save screen time for more side characters and background stories and cut the animation budget with flashbacks (in 24 series episodes and the animation wasn't even that great).
