In 124 episodes Naruto had pretty much completed the first half of its story already. A hokage died, the village was almost destroyed, the rival turned bad, and we were on our way to a timeskip.
Boruto is now at this episode mark. What has it accomplished story wise in comparison? Is it worth picking up?
Unless you are a fan of the naruto universe, i wouldn't recommend watching it, just read

This.
The Boruto anime also started about when the manga did, so it was filler right from the start. The abysmally slow pace of the manga precludes the anime from adapting it, and thus furthering the plot. The anime should just follow its own storyline separate from the manga. Filler isn't bad, it's what made Naruto special because it gave side characters needed screentime. Boruto is almost 100% filler, with almost no serious arcs to progress the plot.
Boruto has the potential, the characters have been growing on me for a while. The OST has been pretty good, and there have baen a handful of really good episodes, so the staff has the potential to make it really good.
Boruto's Chuunin Exams were just nerfed down version for zoomers, zero of the actual violence and scary feeling of the past.
And then afterwards it just stayed in place. No really, I think nothing worth a damn happened since then (in the anime version)

Shikadai became a chunin and Onoki died. Those two are the only things that I think could be major things. Admittedly, I bring up Onoki's death mostly for how it was a former kage and someone from the original series who died rather than any importance Onoki had to the overall narrative of the series.

>I think nothing worth a damn happened Ohnoki died.
Christopher Bell
Any proof he's still alive in the manga? He could have just died off screen instead of that whole filler-tier arc.
David Brooks
Oh, yeah you're right, my bad. They just held a funeral anyway cause they weren't sure. youtube.com/watch?v=vWNcv_eOMvs Better safe than sorry, just in case.
>Ohnoki Dies in the anime >No mention of his Death in the manga >No mention of his death in the manga >I've been defending the anime saying it's canon
i'm a ding dong diddly retard

Agreed. Naruto’s exam they didn’t give a shit if you died or not. Boruto’s exams they didn’t even do anything dangerous.

It makes sense, considering post-Great Ninja War 4 was all about the deescalation of war and tension between nations. Making exams where it's allowed for the kids of what are now allied nations to still kill each other wouldn't exactly help in keeping friendly relations. Now it's meant to just be a fun event for viewers, like some international sports competition.

It's a shitty problem partially due Boruto being more kid-friendly, and also due to the fact that it takes place during peace-time. There's pretty much no real threat of war, so there's no need to train child soldiers. The anime addresses it itself, barely user wants to be a shinobi any more. Back during Naruto it was expected that you become a shinobi because your village needs you to fight for them. It was a duty. In Boruto, who wants to risk their life and limb for a village at peace? There's just no grand reason to be a shinobi unless you have personal reasons.
If Boruto's Chunin exams had a legitimate threat of death, almost no one would participate.
I think Kodachi failed with Kara being a good threat. They're all way too powerful for anyone at Boruto's level to compete against. At least with the Akatsuki you had a range of strengths, so even an early Part II Sasuke could take on a weaker member like Deidara. I guess Ao was sort of at their level, but he was around for like 5 chapters, and Konohamaru had to help them, plus they got boosts from ninja tech.
When Delta, someone who isn't the leader, goes toe-to-toe with Naruto and barely loses (granted Naruto didn't go all out, but he did have to try a little bit) you knew there was a problem. It feels like it's gonna be the Naruto/Sasuke show until Boruto/Kawaki are strong enough. A pretty shitty situation to be in for the next 100+ chapters at best.
They should've gone with a threat that was legitimate to chunins, that could continue to grow until they become kage-tier, and not something that Naruto/Sasuke can take care of. Ootsusukis are out of the question because Sasuke would be on the case ASAP, and they're way too strong for Boruto & Co. Kind of impossible to kill off Naruto at the start, too, so it doesn't leave you much to work with.
Oh well, Salad's extremely cute, so I'm gonna enjoy it regardless.
Whether people enjoyed the filler arcs or not, you can't deny that they were important in giving all the side-characters necessary screen-time. For having such a large cast, it was impressive how many characters were so memorable.
Not to mention he was alive in the Shikamaru novel.

The expendable "Outers" like Ao and that guy Kawaki disemboweled will probably serve as opponents for the new gen. Right now, the "Inners" are out of the equation for them to fight, unless there is a timeskip and everyone gets buffed up or they jump a single Inner in large groups and hope to overpower them by sheer numbers.
Right there was the guy that Kawaki murderized, who was around for a chapter or two. Similar situation to Ao, they don't really feel like villains/ good oppononents because of how short-lived their relevance was. For example, a handful of Akatsuki were fought numerous times, and appeared over a large range of chapters/episodes. It just feels like we're wasting time seeing Naruto fight Jigen, I'd rather see Naruto tied up with something and New Team 7 out on missions investigating Kara and fighting an Outer or 2. We did get that but for like 4 chapters and the past several have been in the village, focused on Naruto/Sasuke.
early shippuden had amazing pace of story too. by ep 20 they were fighting sasori.
why is boruto so shit?
Jaxson Murphy
I can’t tell if this is a trap or not, I never read Naruto.

No manga to catch up on so the anime staff is left to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't conflict/go past the manga. So it's been 90% filler which most people hate. Salad is a cute girl, baka.
They were pretty bad but to compensate there are really good arcs, with Boruto it's going downhill from the beginning other than chunin exams and vs momoshiki.
Aiden Moore
I mean i liked a couple of them, they got better especially towards the end. Boruto has been decent recently (but it'll probably go back to being shit when the current arc ends)
niggers that draw steam are the fucking worst artists. that is never going to happen irl, for fucks sake
Robert Turner
Why do people like feet? They stink.
Lucas Hill
Honestly this manga/anime would have been better with Sarada as the main protagonist. People actually like the Uchiha, nobody gives a shit about the Hyuuga.
Filler made Naruto special. Remember Tiger the Toni arc??
Xavier Morgan
What I wouldn't give to fuck the shit out of sarada, then give her lots of loving aftercare
Jaxon Morgan
>stirrup leggings >often wears heels They know exactly what they're doing
Logan Kelly
definitely one of my favorites along with shikamaru
Jaxon Jones
Boruto fucking sucks and is only worth watching for the girls. Sarada, Namide, Sumire, Wasabi, and all them make my dick doki doki
Also explain this shit
>"Chuunin exams are about your skill, not tools, you're disqualified" >Shuriken and kunai are ok >even Tentens giant ass scythes and iron balls >Dosu and Zaku's arm canons which shoot air are ok >Dogs and bugs are ok >Gaara's sand gourde is ok >Temari's fan is ok >Kankuro's puppets are ok
All of those require training and in some cases the user's chakra. The ninja tool was a literal win button.
Jordan Clark
Hinata is basically a non-character in the manga. Fillers really did give her the time to grow in the anime.
Jaxson Hughes
>No Boruto you can’t use a ninja tool that anyone can use in this exam! >What do you mean it’s not fair, and that I used a giant chakra monster in my exam?! >That was totally different!
Angel Cook
user, quit lying and go fuck off to /d/ to post your disgusting fetishes.
