As the title says, i feel that BNHA has dipped massively on quality as it has went on. First we had Mirio who, for the exchange of a quick moment of making you feel sad, lost all character and became just another side character who will rarely be mentioned ever again.
Then we had the 7 quirks bullshit. Deku already was OP, but now we know that when things go south in the future, Deku will go "grr i'm angry" and 10k fucking quirks will appear, saving the day. Recently we had the LoV getting overpowered out of nowhere just because they supposedly trained off screen and got the shit beaten out of by that monster who's name i honestly can't for the life of me remember because it's just all so forgettable.
Terrible shame, i was a huge fan and couldn't wait every week for a new thrilling chapter. I still read it now, but that's only because i've gotten so far into the story. Safe to say that i definitely do not hold a sliver of the same enthusiasm i used to have for the series.
i dont think the plot got any worse than WSJs plan, this was probably their intention from the beginning and contrary to what most people say it was foreshadowed. However, what did probably change was the fact that MHA got extremely popular really fast, so instead of finishing the franchise quickly with good pacing, they wanted to slow it down and I suspect Hori was told to slow the entire thing down with long arcs and less content heavy chapters.
tl;dr for the redditors in here - the pacing recently turned ass because they want to milk the franchise but the whole deku having 94 quirks thing was always planned and foreshadowed

I'd like to clarify few things, by "this was probably their intention" I mean the 193 quirks thing. Additionally, I'm pretty sure some of the story is bound to be winged but something like 245 quirks was probably decided quite early on or else WSJ wouldn't have allowed Hori to publish it

I honestly just don't care about the main cast. The only interesting people are Todoroki and Iida's arc with Stain. It feels like Hori compensated with being unable to right interesting characters by just making a shitload of them. I dropped it in the beginning of the license arc because I honestly couldn't give even the slightest of fucks about anyone

The hero side is boring as FUCK. The villain side is actually interesting.
My hero academia was really the most popular when it had the autism squad as its protagonists (Deku, Todoroki, Bakugo) instead of just Deku because at the end of the day most of these characters are pretty bog-standard Shounen characters (crying talk no jutsu, parenting issues, anger issues) but the interactions between them made up the series. Which is why I have high hopes for the next arc.
I would have loved it if the story did something interesting and focused on the villains as much as the heroes. I still remember early reactions and all the fan theories that deku was going to go evil in order to give that side development

Those three and Iida could have been the main characters with the rest getting axed. Sugar boy, tape guy, mineta, jiro, they don't add almost anything to the story.
Later arcs could add Kirishima but still, it just feels like a mess. The author is painting with too many colors.

The villain arc (especially the Toga and Twice fights in the beginning) was the most hype I've ever been while reading the series and now that it's back to Dekuck, Bakusperg and Choderoki my interest has plummeted and the only thing keeping me reading is the chance that Hawks does something cool in the next few chapters

Hori just isn't a good writer. He got two of his previous works canceled. Were you expecting him to suddenly become a genius? BNHA is a good SoL drama especially with Deku's sob story at the beginning which was just Hori writing from his own perspective. But that's it.

If that's the whole point why is Hori wasting time giving other students big character moments? Class 1-A are supposed to be main characters but it ends up being Naruto all over again when Hori develops the students only to completely sideline them after making Deku severely outclass everyone.
