I'll be honest, Morena is a better candidate for main villain over Tserriednich, Benjamin as well but really there isn't a singular person whose the main villain here unless you want to pin it all on Nasubi who is the puppet master but also just another cog in the system at this stage.
Tser is the main objective of Kurapika's sub-plot here but he's largely just been sitting in his room playing with Theta and learning Nen. Compared to Benjamin or Halkenburg he's done nothing to really warrant being a big threat even with this crazy ability he's got and the unknown specifications of his guardian spirit. Once he actually uses his power to get a kill he can pretend to be more important than he is, but I really do think the majority of his kills are going to be in the lower decks, Benjamin has too much control over the upper levels for Tser to believably run rampant.

Don't forget that Halkenburg is possessing Vict and one of Luzurus' men, which means that during the testimonies in the trial Halkenburg will have them testify against Benjamin. Probably having them say that he is guilty of all the murders so far. So Benjamin will probably end the next batch of chapters imprisoned, which will lead to Tserriednich running rampant. Probably the "wave of death" that has been foreshadowed so much.

Benjamin was unphased by a lion clawing at his arms and lifts crazy amounts of weight with one hand while being a mountain of a man. He's clearly put in the time to progress his enhancement to a high level.
Context matters, he's important to why kurapika is in the zodiacs and he's a serial killer smart enough to anticipate things like the hunters exam. But his overall presentation in this arc puts him below even Tubeppa for the succession war. Unlike Zhang he has no control over his mafia for any influence on the ship, they are all aiming to kill everyone on the ship including him. Unlike Benjamin he has no real authority as he lacks a military title and despite being the first queen's son he's shown no other perks than denying one of Benjamins guards. And unlike halkenburg he's made no steps to either affect the war, or take down a top player. And to top it all off the only powerful people under his direct supervision are conspiring against him. The classroom will yield at least 1 nen loyal subject right now but where that goes is beyond my speculations.
Don't get me wrong I think Tser is an intimidating figure and his growing powers make him relevant. But at the end of the day he's presented as a self important rich boy about to fight a war by himself + 1 mind broken Theta. He's got a fair amount of hype but no strong feats to back it up.

Unnamed hunter exam fodder were capable of running for 80 kilometers and hunting boars the size of elephants with ease. All of this without even nen being involved. Benjamin with the lion is nothing, I don't understand why people keep bringing it up to prove that he's strong, hundreds of nobodies have showed comparable feats since the beginning of the manga, it's not impressive in the slightest

It proves that super human feats are the norm, those boars were way bigger and deadlier than lions and plenty of nen less fodder could manage them, choking a lion, while being able to use nen on top of that, is nothing special. Gon did those things without nen, the comparison makes perfect sense and if anything is unfair for Gon since we know that the difference between having nen and not is like that between an adult and a child, making Benjamin's feat even less impressive. The bullet resistance was canonically trivialized since no remotely relevant character was ever harmed with a pistol, as long as you're not taken by surprise it's not a problem for the average nen user unless it's a rain of bullets from an army or an automatic gun. And we don't even now if it was really Benjamin's doing or if the nen beast or Balsamico protected him

Meruem and Komugi were my favorite part of the anime. The fact that Gon sacrificed his potential for power was very interesting, and I wish it wasn't magically reverted, but Gon suffered permanent repercussions that were less severe.

Maybe that's true, he's a manipulator after all. But even if his skills at enhancement are subpar, he still has a huge aura supply, as evidenced by Knuckle calling it the largest he'd seen prior to Youpi's. And it doesn't take away his feat of tanking Pouf's kick unprepared.

I'd take Knuckle's analysis as how I look at Cheetu, against a non nen user of course he tears off fingers no problem. But against a nen user his punches lack any real power behind them as he's strictly presented as a DEX character and not a STR one. So while his punches are hard, if you know ten/ren you should be able to withstand them no problem with far more ease than stopping a firearm.
The series makes it clear that getting shot isn't what most nen users want to endure, whether it's because their enhancement is insufficient to block it completely, or you could infer that the resources needed to tank a bullet. Which most likely would mean engaging ren for a poor enhancer. Would be too much to burn for a firearm when most nen users are capable of superhuman feats including dodging. And that's before getting into the argument of calibur since i'm assuming like a 9mm for a police officer and the more standard bodyguard guns in this arc. Someone with a .45 would probably still be a problem for even an enhancer.
So yeah, maybe Morel could tank a small firearm if he was fully rested and forewarned. But he'd still probably just get out the way like he did during the prelude to the raid before he met Cheetu the 2nd time.

Most nen users would opt to dodge a bullet even if they could tank it, yes. As you said, it's more energy efficient to do so, and I believe that's why Morel dodged, not because he'd take damage.
Once again, if Pouf, who kicks huge rubble apart in mid-fligt, can kick him with his guard down without him taking damage, then I can't in any way believe that either a 9mm or a .45 cal would be a danger to him.

You know, when I come into a Hunter x Hunter thread there's a lot that crosses my mind. The legacy of the greatest shounen ever written. I mean consider that for a minute. This amazingly well written and extremely complex piece of literature has been going on for several decades now and is still going. Not only that but it is still popular, still gaining new fans and keeping old ones happily around.
Hunter x Hunter is not just a manga, its not just genre deconstructing, its not just one of the greatest stories ever told. It is proof that man can achieve greatness in all its meanings. The story we have been discussing, months on end, years on end, it is evidence of a true understanding of nuanced and complex themes. A culture within itself.
So when I come into a Hunter x Hunter thread I feel like im not only here with my fellow Hunterchads. I am here with everyone else, experiencing the magic that is HxH. Even the poor and misguided who either havnt read it or consider it sub-par are here with us. Giving attention and time to a story that is older then most of us here today.
I see great discussion day after day. New points being brought up and old ones being held high for the board to see. It was through years of dedicated posting that these threads have gotten to this point. Intense and amazing discussion backed by some of the most quality memes found on the internet. And its all thanks to the Hunterchads who have kept it all going.
So when I go into a Hunter x Hunter thread a few things cross my mind, but the one thing that always reigns true is how great it is to be a Hunterchad, to be apart of a legacy decades old that continues to hold its own with strength, intelligence and grace. Thats what it means to be a Hunterchad.

Because of that one out of context mistranslated line in the Hisoka vs Chrollo fight. The NPCs who like Chrollo remember that part more than any part of HxH. Therefore, since they remember nothing else about Nen, they automatically assume that Manipulation Nen automatically works as long as you want to manipulate people, not objects.
