The great battle harem war of 2015. Asterisk War, Rakudai Kishi and Anti-Magic Platoon all came out in the same season, all of them flopped hard. Asterisk War was especially bad because Aniplex poured a fuckton of money into it's promotion and gave it two seasons. That was enough for the entire industry to be like "nope". The best thing is the MC does not care about what other think, it is the other characters that evolve and develop because they are a part of MC's life. MC just wants to be rent free. The real tragedy is what happened to Shiena. Apparently for some reason she decided just a few years after Asterisk to rebrand into this EDM rock artist called EXiNA, which so far hasn't turned out well.

I hated most battle harem stuff I watched and I still haven't made the transition into that stuff. Unless loving stuff like Bamboo Blade counts.
I guess it makes sense because the fights are usually too fucking garbage and you tend to enjoy the interactions more and CGDCT is literally nothing but that.
