Jotaro is the power fantasy character, the guy you insert your teenage self onto, or the guy you want to be. When everyone else flounders and fails, he picks up the slack and cleans house.
Josuke is that friend you know, who gets himself into trouble and does darey stuff, but manages to pull it off sometimes. He doesn't always pull it off, but it's ok. His friends have his back and he has theirs.

I would say the opposite, DiU's beginning was meh but by the end it was top tier. Easily one of the best parts

DiU started really good, then it become less good when the Keicho death happened but still very enjoyable. Then Kira appears and we have this kino battle about koichi vs sheer heart attack. Then it have a big letdown when Kira father appears and became everyone into villain of the week, which Highway Star, Janken kid and Enigma being the only good fights. Then Bitez Za dusto arc happen, which is probably one of the best arc in all Jojo story. A kid have to use his brain to defeat a man with superpower, and he have to fail a lot of times until he succeded, that was genius, then Josuke vs Kira happens which is one of the best fights in all the series and one of the few times that I rooted for Josuke. And then when all the crew are together and Koichi use Act 3 while Jotaro is running to activate Za warudo. And the poetic death of Kira by the hands of Reimu is *kiss his own fingers* MUAH. So yeah it have letdowns, a lot, but in the end DiU the whole is more than the sums of its parts

Think about it, introducing stands in part 3 essentially gave him a free pass to allow for any and all abilities without having to worry about explanation or backstory. It allows him to circumvent the narrative and just explore whatever sounds cool. However he probably scoped out the general framework for part 3 ahead of time and couldn't fit in near as many ideas as he could think up.

Part 4 was intentionally designed to have pretty minimal direction. Its a series of loosely woven side stories Araki utilized to put rejected Stands to paper.

Seems pretty accurate to me. There isn't much of a driving force to 4, other than a theme of suburban living. It makes the arc cozy as fuck, because it's very close to a bildungsroman, but it does mean that if you're looking for a driving momentum you're SOL. Even the 5th arc, for any of its faults, has a series of different plots that help push its tension forward from beat to beat.
But I don't think there's anything wrong with any of this. Having more varied stands lets some unique ideas come to life.
It's pretty similar to 90's and 2000's X-Men, when a bunch of writers started to have to come up with weirdo mutants that had not insanely as useful powers as the first few classes, and this helped create much more interesting stories with characters that had generally inferior powers to a Cyclops or a Wolverine or whoever.
(BTW Stands = Mutant X Genes in terms of creator laziness to not want to create unique origins)

Act 2 is flashy and has lots of uses, but Act 3 has one ability that does what it does in a straightforward, but dependable manner. Koichi dropped the flashy stuff for something practical.

Civil War was such a great arc.

Valentine can actually kill people extremely easily with D4C since he can just chuck an alternate reality version of yourself at you and you both disintegrate. From there he'd be free to grab another one who may be more cooperative. Gets rid of someone who may stand in his way later while replacing them with someone who looks like the same guy on the outside.

The real problem with Part 4 is that the main characters barely feel like a group and that every stand battle is only fought with two or three people max because the main characters' Stands are so absurdly powerful. Of course this happened in part 3 and part 5 as well but at least in those parts the main characters all fought together sometimes.

Part 5 never had a battle where everyone fought together. Neither did 3 IF you count Iggy.

Fighting gold is my favorite but the final version of requiem was kino, w/ the doppio animation outlines, giorno dio reference, the diavolo time loop, and requiems appearance, man it really came together well.

Requiems appearance makes no sense when the song ends with Giorno stabbing himself with the arrow to get Requiem

Fighting Gold was the best, Traitor Requiem would have surprased it if they didn’t reaused so many scene from the anime and didn’t have such a long ass intro (like chase)

Part 4 is absolute shit. The only thing stopping p4 from being the absolute worst part is Kira, Jotaro, and Rohan. Koichi unfairly cheats death and has act 2 absolutely wasted despite being an incredibly creative stand. Act 3 only exists for the pure use of limiting stand movement. Josuke is arguably the most boring protagonist in Jojo, and okuyasu asspulls himself back to death by simply deciding not to die. Araki had to have Kira do something completely uncharacteristic of himself in order to be found out, and for some reason the main cast becomes retarded during the final fight and instead of being suspicious of josuke being late, they just sit around waiting in one spot instead of looking for Josuke AND okuyasu who are mysteriously missing. On top of all this, the setting is boring with it constantly having to be supernatural and makes its most notable aspects obsolete. The cool minor characters and interesting stands are heavily underused, and when they are used, it manages to be just a little entertaining. It takes way too long to get to Kira, with everything before having been boring and incredibly uninteresting, maybe except for rohan who actually spices things up enough for him to get his own spinoffs. THIS is why part 4 is shit, and im just talking about the manga.
