Am I missing something here or Kanan is a horrible friend?
>Third years form a group two years prior the story >Kanan knows about Mari's opportunity to go study abroad >She also knows Mari doesn't care about that and prefers to be an idol with them >Decides she's better off if they go their separate ways and doesn't talk with her about it >They're invited to perform in Tokyo >Mari is injured, which could get worse if they perform >Kanan decides to crash the group with no survivors so Mari gives up >After telling her it's ok if she goes, Mari finally goes and leaves Kanan and Dia >Two years later >Mari comes back, but the 3rd years aren't happy about it >Dia eventually stops caring, but Kanan goes autistic and doesn't want anything to do with Mari >Kanan doesn't want to explain why she doesn't want to be an idol again >Dia has to explain to Mari what's going on >The whole thing is treated as if Mari was in the wrong >Turns out Kanan always looked out for her and Mari was supposed to know it
Even if Kanan somehow isn't to blame here, Dia was the real victim here since she just had to give up her dream because of Kanan's stupidity. I don't know if the story was changed, but looking back at the beggining it's hinted that something happened and Mari was the one who screwed up. It doesn't explain why Kanan was so bitter towards Mari, the only explanation here is that she sucks and is a terrible person.
>Most annoying LL character >besto Yikes and bluepilled.
Jordan Sullivan
>samefag OP posting his headcanon conspiracy theories Lame.
Cooper Torres
Dia and Chika are the best
Noah Ramirez
Sunshine S1 had some poorly written plots and the MariKanan subplot was one of them. Kanan in School Idol Festival is a saint compared to what the animu makes her out to be.
Nathan Stewart
Chika is lucky she has great friends who'd try to support her during rough times instead of cruelly slapping her in the face.
Chase Russell
The 3rd year drama was retarded just like the whole Kotori Honoka shit in the first season of the original. Kanan was stupid This. When my friend asked me to join his tennis club in high school I basically said no way fag.
Ryder Perry
You are now aware sunshit is garbage.
Kayden Anderson
She takes care of her siblings, researches her passion, and is highly confidant. What's the problem?
Adrian Moore
More like highly annoying and narcissistic, and that Nico-Nii shit can go to hell. Thank god Sunshine cast doesn't have someone as annoying as her.
Bentley Lee
Apparently nips sided more with kanan while westeners sided more with mari
Imo not talking about issues is just autistic no matter how well meaning you are, kanan didn't only hurt herself but also mari and dia
Anthony Carter
Agreed. The first four Love Live episodes were the best because they barely had that brat Nico in them. The show became a chore to watch after she joined the main cast.
Not to mention all the shipping bullshit that started afterwards doesn't help her case.
Jordan Stewart
>cruelly slapping her in the face What a shitshow that turned out to be
The big problem I had with that was Kanan was at the heart of the 3rd years problems, but they forgot to give her a personality in the anime, so I didn't care about her motivations for doing what she did
Jeremiah Hall
The Kanan one was understandable 'cause she went too overboard with the "pretend to be a jerk" shtick, but Honoka didn't deserve it.
Lucas Cook
>ruin your friends chances at participating in love live DESPITE Umi explicitly telling you what not to do >mope around and quit on them while telling them they are shit and should quit as well Umi did nothing wrong
John Young
Stuff like this makes me appreciate the Sunshine girls even more.
John Miller
Not to mention Mari's slap was immediately followed by a hug and tears. What did Umi do after slapping Honks again?
Dylan Smith
So it's okay use violence to solve everything instead of talking it out properly? Yeah, no.
Sunshine season 2 episode 7 handled the same-ish conflict much better.
Samuel Perry
Do you mean Ep 9 or 7? Because what Kanan did was pretty vile and led to the conflict being unresolved for 2 more years. And the conflict in 9 was very different due to that. >So it's okay use violence to solve everything instead of talking it out properly? They did try talking and as good friends were obviously more worried about her health than about Love Live so they didn't blame her at all. But at some point, if someone insults you and your hard work and does not listen to reason, a bitch slap is absolutely the most appropriate way to deal with it.
Jack Morgan
I think he's talking about the episode where Chika tried to quit being an idol because her school closed down.
Juan Myers
Not that guy but yes the slap was reasonable in LLS. The LL one was weak in comparison, especially considering the shit Honoka was going through.
Joseph Perez
Love Live isn't known for handling drama well.
Nicholas Price
Everyone pretty much understood Chika's situation when she cried despite trying her best to hold back tears. Unfortunately for Honoka, some of her friends weren't very smart...
Jackson Cook
Oh, I think those situations are way too different to compare. >the shit Honoka was going through the same shit her friends were going through except it wasn't their fault? Don't get me wrong, I understand sympathizing with her to a degree. What I don't get is ignoring that everyone else might have feelings too
So doing your part in making sure that your friend doesn't waste a great opportunity is sign of a bad friend? Only thing she did wrong was not talking it out properly.
Justin Long
>Promo material 420 Nee-san >Anime Emo drama machine Kind of ruined Sunshine for me
Julian Foster
This shit has been proven false a long time ago. Give it up already, obsessed JAVfag.
Asher Perez
She gets her shit together after Sunshine season 1 episode 9
Owen Allen
>he doesn't like the dramatic slap of justice
Honk was being a bitch and Umi doesn't play that shit
Camden Hall
>love live Stop watching idols and take the bandpill
None of the drama involving them made sense. Why did they care so much about the educational opportunities of somebody who can buy a school for a stupid plan. Ruby also didn't care when she found out Dia was lying when she made up with her. The writers didn't actually care because they knew the fans would accept anything as long as the characters cried.
Austin Torres
More like slap of melodrama.
Ayden Rodriguez
I know there's the "Japs all look the same" thing, but you'd have to be blind or insane to think they're both the same woman
Luis Clark
Ignore that guy.
Aiden Sanchez
Slaps are just how japanese girls say hello
Josiah Bailey
You have to be pretty fucked up to take Kanan's side. Mari's not under any obligation to spend two years in a foreign country just to go to a good school she has little interest in attending when she could do the same thing in Japan (or not, college isn't always necessary). The mind games and emotional abandonment she pulled could also give someone trust/abandonment issues. Kanan was a control freak and acted in some emotionally abusive ways. Her actions were not justified and could easily have scarred Mari if this wasn't an anime.
Connor Martinez
But those sound effects just say "a" or "O"
Jack Bennett
What are they singing? Aozora Jumping Heart? Genki Zenkai DAY DAY DAY? Humming Friends?
Jose Wilson
Well that's why Umi is second worst Live after Nico
I liked it,but I felt like it tried to do too much.It has the third years subplot, the Saint Snow subplot, mari's mom,the main plot and at one point it tries to mash them together and the rsult isn't really great. In comparison, the first movie was simpler but I felt like it left more of an impact because of that.
Ethan Mitchell
moles, piercings, and teeth match if it wasn't her she would've sued
Gavin Jones
I liked the songs. Hop Stop Nonstop, Believe Again, and Next Sparkling are great. Also Tsuki is really cute.
Josiah Rogers
i.imgur.com/yspY0u9.jpg Is this some kind of prelude to the inevitable meeting between Aqours and μ's in ALL STARS?
Zachary Williams
She did. Now get lost and never come back.
Wyatt Edwards
>still spouting the old and busted rumor How obsessed are you?
Nathaniel Fisher
Honestly, I was kinda disappointed by the way the Mari's mom marriage plot was resolved. One thing about Sunshine that gave it something good was making the best out of failure. I was honestly expecting them to fail to wow Mari's mom and then the rest of the movie would be them dealing with that mess and learning to deal with losing the 3rd years or something.
Tyler Thomas
Imagine being engaged to a qt like Mari only for her mom to call you and say >It’s Joke! at the last minute.
Jayden Wilson
they couldn't make it even more about the 3rd years than it already was
>rotten personality Sunshine manga and SIF phone game disagrees
Julian Hall
I hope you didn't skip season 2 episode 11. There's a nice scene between Chika and You in that episode.
Jonathan Barnes
Both the Kanan drama and the drama with Umi/Honk/Kotori were shit. However the drama in the original was pretty much confined to two episodes while the drama in Sunshine took up almost the entire first season.
Sebastian Martinez
The third years conflict was a small subplot that became important in episode 9. The episodes before that episode were mostly about Chika and friends' idol activities.
Mason Russell
Why couldn't they just have focused on her diving hobby and job? Why are they so hesitant on making potential scuba bucks through idol?
I don't know if I would call her horrible, but definitely was in the wrong there. Anyway, their entire conflict could have been avoided if they had stopped being such Japanese level autists for two seconds and say anything. >Mari, I don't want to participate in Love Live with your foot like that, you could get seriously injured >Kanan, I don't care about studying abroad, our lives are short and meaningless and I don't want to waste it on something that I don't care instead of spending time with my friends
Kanan heard Mari saying that she doesn't care about studying abroad and prefers to be an idol with her friends. Not only Kanan didn't talk to her about it but went against her wishes (it's not like what happened with Kotori since the Ohara family are stupidly rich so Mari could have gone to any school she wanted).
Even then, Kanan says it'll all be ok and she'll be waiting for Mari, but as soon as she came back Kanan acted like leaving was Mari's fault and she abandoned them. So yeah, Kanan was an awful friend.
Blake Wood
>Idolmaster wannabe held by an anime-hating retard >/gbp/ is slower than /llsifg/ despite having two threads >/u/ doesn't give a crap about its thread so much that /gbp/ hijacks its general thread sometimes >All Stars has 3D graphics while GBP has stills >Pic related Oh no no no no no no no no Bandpill? More like yikespilled.
I have a friend who likes Mari and I can’t blame him, her engrish is charming and so is her personality. Rewatching sunshine with him made me appreciate her character more, but I still like Yoshiko better
Riko a shit
John Allen
You’ve somehow managed to achieve a level of autism even higher than the purityfags. Congratulations?
>Idolmaster wannabe held by an anime-hating retard >/gbp/ is slower than /llsifg/ despite having two threads >/u/ doesn't give a crap about its thread so much that /gbp/ hijacks its general thread sometimes >All Stars has 3D graphics while GBP has stills >Pic related Oh no no no no no no no no Bandpill? More like yikespilled.
I once had a wet dream starring Kanan and Mari. What a mess it was.
Evan Miller
anime was a mistake. they fucked over kanan with 0 relevant episodes. they just agreed to stop going to raibus because it's hard. that's it. I wish they animated the Kanan Yoshiko story
>Sunshine gets revealed >first PV >You is my favorite >anime airs >really dislike Riko because she hogged all the screentime and made You cry (not her fault though) >S1 ends, get back into playing SIF while waiting for S2 >keep getting Riko cards >she slowly starts growing on me >realize how similar she and I are >start buying her merch despite never buying anything anime related before >by the time S2 aired I was a full-blown Rikofag
this unironically. Nico was a mistake. Even though I like her oneesan side she brought a lot of insufferable "fans" into the series
Jacob Barnes
>Honoka didn't deserve it >exercises herself in the fucking rain before a concert like a retard to be sore in the morning >tries to give up on love live >doesn't give a shit kotori goes aboard >TRIES TO FUCKING GIVE UP AS THE LEADER yeah nah, Umi is the actual leader of muse. Honoka is just a dumb bitch who got the center
yes? Dumb bitches only learn by physical punishment. She was told not to do something and she did. What else is there to talk about? If saying something didn't work, saying it over and over again is not going to help either. With Kanan it helps not to get violent because she actually understands by talking. Honoka doesn't. And for fucks sake sunshine was not even close to giving up, if anything they were sad because despite trying everything the school closes, Chika cried but she didn't say "hey let's give up". Then as the badass aquors is they avenge the school by winning love live. I love muse but honoka is a trash leader
>exercises herself in the fucking rain before a concert like a retard to be sore in the morning Didn't she collapse in front of everyone because of that? I think that's enough of a punishment >tries to give up on love live Because both Kotori and Umi were too chicken to give Honoka the bad news until it's too late >doesn't give a shit kotori goes aboard Uh.. what? >TRIES TO FUCKING GIVE UP AS THE LEADER The stress of collapsing in the middle of the concert, not making it into Love Live and Kotori's departure got to her. It's hard to blame her, really.
Jose James
because they are very cute together! I can't tell if the runes are translated 100% accurately
>Implying Yoshiko autism isn't like 10 times more annoying than Nico egocentric persona
When i played Kotori birthday story on SIF i was so glad that for once a story was free of all the fallen angel bullshit, hell, all this time putting with Yoshiko bullshit made Nico a bit likeable to me
neat, a LL thread. While at we here, can someone explain the Ove the Rainbow ending? whom are talking at the epilogue? are those Aqours from the past talking about what happened in the future? Am i being a brainlet?
It's just random girls. It signifies that Aqours made a lasting impression, similar to the way that μ's inspired Aqours and countless other school idols, or A-Rise to Saint Snow.
Hunter Harris
Really? They sounded exactly like Aquors so that got me confused.
>Aquors Even the official movie subs couldn’t get it right.
Parker Rodriguez
You think they go to church and pray with eachother? The idea of them being cute, pure good catholic girls together having bible studies and singing in their church choir and other religious duties warms my heart...
>Mari and Hanamaru praying Rosary together >Mari and Hanamaru praying for the Intercession of Mary in the Love Live finals >Jesus, Mary and all the Saints in heaven celebrating /our catholic girls/ winning Love Live
Cameron Flores
>Japan >Catholic Good one user.
Owen Walker
What's your favorite sub unit? I like a lot listening Cyaron. Genki energy makes me happy
