This is what the scanlation scene has become. Hypocrisy and greed. In the first place, scanlation groups are violating copyright by scanlating manga in the first place, yet they act like they are entitled to get paid for what they are doing and have ownership over their scans. What a joke.
If Mangadex really felt like it, they could just not take down any of those chapters. What can those fuckers do about it? Cry home to the author? They don't even have the rights to translate in the first place. Stop translating? So what, nobody was going to visit your shitty sites for the new chapters anyway! Honestly, the whole point of Mangadex is having a centralized location for all groups to upload their shit for maximum reader convenience. Nobody wants to be visiting several different individual group sites and using shitty, poorly implemented online readers thrown up by those groups. In fact, Mangadex is even TOO nice. There shouldn't be this tolerance for faggots who want to force users to visit their main site for ad money by implementing artificial chapter delays. What the actual fuck?
Back in my day, we just had Mangaupdates and a fucking IRC channel. God I miss #lurk. It wasn't as convenient as shit is today, but EVERYONE used it, and you would almost always find your shit there. People translated for the love of it and to help others. Now people treat it like a shady part time job. Just makes me sick.
