ITT: Last good anime you watched

Upon your own standards, which is the last really good thing you watched? I mean, not your regular "good" thing but those that feels like an entire gamechanger, a new whole experience and those which let you with a void after it ends.

I watched 3 years ago, so for me it wasn't that long ago.

Boku no Pico

not an anime but this was an eye opening experience

This one really surprised me. I wrote it off as 3d waifu shit when it first aired but gave it a chance recently. I knew it was something special after the first episode.

Death parade had a great opening.

is that ergo proxy? it was interesting at the start, but after a while outside the city it felt like nothing was happening. I think i dropped it around ep 17/18

I wish we could get something like it again bois....

was a pretty good show but parts of it felt unnecessary or like filler. i didnt really care at all about the main casts gay relationships, but the storyline with the rat uprising was pretty cool

It seems like i watch one good anime, and then i watch like 4 o 5 trash anime that makes me go on hiatus, it has been like that for a while.

Houseki no Kuni

Yuru Camp

You have to dig a little deeper For me was the whole moral dilemma with society and races, those concept were the best of the series. Really human-like way to describe it during the whole series, really convincing for me at least.

>those which let you with a void after it ends
Knowing we may never get another romance series as good as this is leaving a noticeable void, especially as the manga is close to finishing as well.

Hyouge Mono

Wait, there aren't any good ongoing yuri manga right now? That's a bummer.

That was a good adaptation. Any comment on the live action series? Is it any good?

The movie was fun

Had some pacing problems but great overall. I cried at the ending.
Also her son behaviour was confusing from what i recall. Also some minor things thats why i gave it an 8/10
Complete dogshit where all characters act like soulless insectoids, also samefaces. Did anything important ever happened in this movie anyways? Mc lost her arm i believe? Also daughter of some lady died, thats it? Felt pointless.

Came here to post this. Haven’t found any other yuri manga that comes close

same as you anons.

I guess that would be Sword of the Stranger. It's a difficult experience to describe, but it's uplifting, satisfying, and subtly euphoric. Apart from the crisp pacing and great fight choreography, it's really the soundtrack that elevates this movie. This webm really isn't working without it. Shame you can't download the OST anywhere.
As an aside, I'm currently going through Wolf's Rain, and it is already excellent. I'm sure it will end up in my Top 10. It dragged it's feet a bit with the recap episodes, but now towards the end it's really winding up again.

>Had some pacing problems but great overall. I cried at the ending.
Pacing and transitions are different things, the pacing was fine, the problem was that they didn't show a transition from one year to another, something like "5 years later" would have been better, but everything was abruptly, and i think her son behavior was normal since every teenager behaves like a retard at that age.

monogatari is aotd. didnt particularly like this arc though

Attached: aotd.jpg (1261x701, 106K)

Definitely Twelve Kingdoms. And the hole will pretty much never be filled by anything again, it's been 2 years already and the void is still present.

It's the first show in at least 6 years to break my top 20.

Maybe not a gamechanger, but Kanata no Astra is refreshing.

nice cheeky rec thread OP

Both of these for me. Fall 2017 was amazing

It's certainly better than most people thought it would be at the start, even more if you kept yourself safe from spoilers like me. I didn't even lurk one single thread here

Technically this one because I put it on hold and didn't finish it until few months ago. I saw Hyouge Mono a few years ago and haven't seen anything better since then.

One of the worst endings for a manga I had the mispleasure to read.

Was a decent thread until neckbeards showed up.

Holy shit hello there other person that has watched twelve kingdoms. Is the novel worth getting into?
The thread started ok and went downhill really fast.

2017 was the year where the stars aligned and it rained gold.

how can u like the history of 5 cucks cuked by an incel

Yuru Camp and Sorayori are decent.

Anyway is really Granbelm that good?

Yuru Camp is great but not a "gamechanger", which is the point of the thread. Yorimoi is only a big deal to emotionally unstable underagefags.

>which is the point of the thread.
Reread the OP again.

Not really, OP said "your own standards", and that instantly makes everything subjective

season 2 never

I only liked the OP song to be honest, and Aoi Yuuki saying "boogiepopu", aside from that, the series had horrible pacing issues to actually being more than "decent".

>Upon your own standards, which is the last really good thing you watched?
Symphogear is one of the only good anime this decade, I'm going to feel so fucking empty when this final season is over, nothing on the horizon looks good at all. It feels like a last hurrah of ridiculous, but sincere hotblooded 70s-90s action that almost entirely disappeared this decade.

Attached: Ver Nephilim.gif (914x880, 518K)

No anime this year surpassed boogiepop at dawn arc
Also this

Right, "your own standards" for "feels like an entire gamechanger, a new whole experience and those which let you with a void after it ends". Is that really how it makes you feel?

If your own standards are horrendously low, it's not so unexpectable user.

I am literally watching the credits roll right now. Those fight scenes were really good.

>Wolf's Rain
Buckle in and get ready for a ride.

SAO GGO fell off the map. That shit was bad.

This

Fate/Zero, two weeks ago. Will probably be Steins Gate when I finish it. Yeah it took me almost a decade to start watching the top rated stuff people like the most for whatever reason.

She was so slutty

Darling in the Franxx, but only the first few episodes

The novels are god tier, far better than the anime actually, and I say this as someone who considers the adaptation my favorite anime of all time. The anime compressed and changed the first arc quite a bit, diluting a lot of its impact and character focus, as well as adding useless characters that were never needed in the first place (though I like how they used Sugimoto with Taiki). The same thing goes for the Taiki arc (which is really rushed and glossed over when it's the cornerstone os some later events). It also leaves some great story arcs like the one that narrates how Shushou (the little girl empress) came to power. And the novels simply exude an enchanting atmosphere through the amazing world and character building. All in all it's an absolutely fantastic read and some of my favorite novels of all time period.
And if you're wondering how you can read them, there's a guy who's actually a professional writer and translator who translated them for free with an outstanding translation quality far above what you usually see in japanese to english works.

It was simply great. Still waiting for director's cut.

I’m probably the same. Madoka was the last a actual anime I enjoyed a lot.

2 days ago, when I watched Koi wa Ameagari

My absolute fucking nigger.

Darker than Black a few months ago

Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei, yesterday. I've finally gotten around to binging Yuasa shows after ages. I keep a few things I've heard are good on the backburner for whenever I get disillusioned with seasonal shit, so I figured now was finally the time, and it lived up to the hype. The spiritual sequel movie is probably also my favorite anime movie, however low a bar that is.

Fucking love Tatami Galaxy but there's better anime movies than Walk on Girl I think. Well one that Yuasa made actually, Mind Game.

I can count the anime movies I've even moderately enjoyed on one hand. I've always been of the opinion that industry standard feature length is too short for most writers to tell a good story, even ones that are otherwise talented. Walk on Girl somehow managed to surpass this limitation, so it's just at the top of my list by default even if it's merely pretty good.

I wasn't ready for the feels

Me too user, I watched it a few months ago but I just can't stop thinking about it.
