IIRC, the original started the rebellion and war plot in the first few episodes. The sequel was episodic for almost 11 episodes. Despite the series, that’s very different.

To be fair it's hard to start another war after you basically "unified" a country in the first game, it needed some kind of start. The whole sand people chapter was a bit weird though.

The anime was shit, whereas the original anime had at least some good qualities.

Haku was troubled by Maroro since he was the same reflected back at him, someone who doesn't mind dirtying himself in any way and doing anything to accomplish his goal, even killing thousands and burning down a bridge. But "When Maroro does it its wrong" even though Haku literally massacred that one fat slob's army even though they were just following orders, burned them with oil, set fire to them, and told Maroro to shut the fuck up and get in line when he asked why Oshtor was acting like such a monster. Oshtor's early on try harded actions of being too cold fucked up over later in a few ways.` At least Hakuoro in Uta1 had the line about how if there was a hell he'd surely be sent to it for engaging in this war in the first place, but "Do anything for the sake of the mission, engage in any evil if necessary" types tend to fuck themselves and invalidate their own mission in the process, they're not different from villains.

Maroro wasn't going to be a villain on his own either way, he was despondent and unresponsive upon learning of Haku's death. He had no reason to do anything until Raikou started grooming him. Abh Kamu really aren't that amazing, they're like construction vehicles. Its like someone driving a steamroller at you. They're something that a single well trained fighter can deal with in universe.

Meanwhile no single fighter can handle one of the four masked ones. A single Vurai or Mikazuki could solo most of Tuskur themselves. They'd only run into trouble once they reach the capital and the bird people are called in.

Beniwai could deal with Munechika, but that was more compatibility. He knew she would protect her men which stops her from transforming, if she didn't care about her men so much she would have just transformed and they would have had no way to stop her. Plus she was a loser out of the four masked ones.

Hell in one of the alternate routes post-game Tuskur does try to invade and are stopped instantly by Haku.

The acoustic version of Utawarerumono 1's anime opening was the perfect song to close out the game.

Honestly Raikou could handle Tuskur well enough, Woshis just outplanned him by giving him shitty units to work with like that one fatty, which badly undercut his potential so that the war was destined for failure from the start. Since every single day fatty wouldn't listen to Raikou's orders and ran off on his own doing his own thing, and ruined every plan.

Woshis specifically planned for the war to be a dud.

Raikou didn't deserve any of that shit. He was literally defeated by consecutive asspulls.
