The arc would be over a lot sooner if Motobe didn't jump in the fight with Yujiro.

Is this manga as homo as it looks? Not even attempting to insult it, it looks like legit stuff for gay men (not fujos).

i understood motobe's motivation it was to teach musashi the difference between his era of fighting to the death in wars and current era of sports fighting, and he succeeded by taking musashi down non-lethally. The lesson didn't seem to accomplish much, though, and it dragged on for too long.

Also, while he is right about most every other character, Yujiro is an engine of war and death just like Musashi, they fought for very different reasons but they were not mismatched in terms of understanding the stakes. Itagaki puts ancient warfare on a fucking pedestal, though.

I don't understand why Yujiro didn't just come back later to fuck his shit up, but that can be said about pretty much every antagonist in the series since there's no conflict when he's around.

Because said greatest boxer gets beaten off panel, and the poison amounts to nothing. There is tons of buildup, but no payoff. Doyle was supposed to be one of the most dangerous ones in the group, but he got his shit pushed in literally every time.
tagaki can't write stories for shit, but his fights and characters are great and it's why the series works.

Nearly killing Baki doesn't amount to nothing.

Doyle's very first fight was a stalemate with Oliva and unlike Sikorsky he was even able to make him bleed, he also won against Kosho (But I guess that doesn't count, right?) so no, he didn't get his shit pushed in literally every time and you do not understand the entire point of the Convicts' arc.

Doyle made a fool of Oliva and got away with it and was a major pain in the ass to every character almost (and the Doyle x Katsumi friendship was extremely sweet).
You clearly haven't even understood 1% of what the prisoners were for, which was showcasing the different meanings of "defeat" and "match" which every character had, if you want a brainless manga of just people beating the shit out of each other with Shonen plot reasons then go read Kengan Shitsura, right up your alley buddy.

I don't know how they can still keep going after Son of Ogre. Baki and Yujiro are now so god damn strong that there shouldn't be any conflict left. Both of them are done with their character arc, there is no reason to go on.
