Everything about kimetsu is selling extremely well, so no wonder.

Anime originals tend to flop in general unless they come with Granblue codes or concert tickets.

The producer mentioned that they didn't spend that much on promotion and used the money on animating the show instead.

It also somehow overlaps with Symphogear in terms of genre. So the part of potential fanbase could go to more well known franchise instead.

I don't watch it so I don't even know what it's about but from random bits I saw on 2ch, they mostly complain about mecha stuff and say it really wasn't need needed here.

I mean I kind of see the point, but they also don't really take anything away.

It's a passion project with barely any advertising or merch. I remember some interviews saying that they don't expect it to sell at all, someone probably has the link to them lying around somewhere.

It's just a shame to not see that kind of dedication and passion rewarded. That was a lot of the idea back in the 80s when any director could pitch an idea and get an OVA. I realize the economic situations aren't nearly as generous, and that's putting it lightly, but when the alternative is just almost all shallow LN adaptations and glorified commercials it's really disheartening.

A bit disappointed at Machikado's placement but it's honestly overperforming as it is.
At okaa-san I can be content knowing it's probably not getting a second season.

I don't know why newfag pretends gear is not an idol show, it has always lowkey been a CD and concert advertisement. The fact that it's good and enjoyable is a byproduct.
Also it's collosal stupidity to watch gears for the yuri, but if you hate yuri I don't think you can enjoy it either. Other than GX and AXZ all the other seasons have been very in your face about it and without liking yuri HibiMiku and DmJii drama is a chore to sit through.
