which is probably why there were 2 ova seasons of happy ending fanservice, cause season 2 really wasn't enough to cleanse the palette of season 1.

The anime cut SO much. Episode 8 opens on someone finding a dead body in a garbage bag and you never find out who it was (it was Rina, she was either stealing from the sonozakis or Miyo's goons killed her). Reading the Matsuribayashi manga was mindblowing compared to watching the anime, really explaining everything that Takano did, but then also throwing in Mr. Delicious' backstory.

I know it's a completely different author. But after reading SnU I feel like Higurashi would have been a hundred times better as a straight horror VN. The setting, the characters, all the different possible scenarios.
