Well I wouldn't say authoritarianism necessarily contradicts the desire for freedom. After all the question is WHOSE freedom. Some times in order to secure your freedoms you have to crush those who would try to take them away. In which case authoritarianism is the only valid world view for people who value freedom.

Unless you're part of the ruling class, freedoms are by default significantly hindered in an authoritarian regime, sacrificing your freedoms to save them is a tale as old as time, see any of the innumerable amounts of times it's happened in history. At the same time, many wars have been fought and won without having the victors sacrifice the rights of their population.
Going "The only way to repel enemy X is to give me all the power! Don't worry, surely it will return in the hands of the people once the danger has passed" has worked out rarely, to say the least. Some roman tyrants did it a couple of times; as often as not they had to be taken from their seat of power via military intervention.
No rational libertarian who actually believes in the ideology would consider an authoritarian transition acceptable. Tanya is simply a min-maxing self-interested opportunist, I would barely say she has an ideology at all.
