Yes. The vast majority of them do shoujo and yaoi, while Yea Forums seems to read mostly shounen and seinen. So you see fewer of them because there are just a shit ton of shounen manga around and very rarely are they written by women (some good examples of women who write shounen are Hirakawa, Yumi Hotta, and Tanabe Yellow). The seinen side of things seem to be rather balanced, though. But you have way more exposure to male mangaka than female mangaka when you count shounen.
