Yea but during that fight against the UM6 siblings it was specifically mentioned that Tanjiro was at the brink of death that humans teeter on and train for years just to get a few seconds more of when he started overpowering Daki. The mark clearly isn't actually that point but right next to it, so the people who die early after receiving the mark accidentally push into death while using it while Yoriichi has clearly mastered balancing the fine line between life and death like some sort of Zen master.

Women have weaker muscles, less dense muscles, and weaker skeleton structure. And Shinobu is noted to be particularly weak on top of that.

He didn't soloed the demon, that was the whole point. He thought he could do it, but he couldn't and since there was no one stronger than him to save him, he thought he had lost. In the end he was saved by someone much weaker than him and managed to kill the demon.
So far, the only person we know of who soloed an Upper Moon is Zenitsu, although it was Upper Moon 6 and the guy had just turned into one.

Probably because surviving doesn't mean they are doing their jobs and killing the demons. Like says, Sabito is probably one of the most awful things to happen to the Demon Corps, suddenly a bunch of good for nothings got to work and died within a few months, all because one guy decided to let everyone cheat on the exam.
Imagine all the resources that went into building swords and housing and paying all these people, and they all died. Even worse, probably what is the sole survivor became a Hashira, and the guy is autistic even by Hashira standards.
So this is probably what happens, bunch of people go in, some guys just ride their tails and pass the exam, a few shitty ones die in the next months, the smarter ones manage to keep escaping and surviving.
