It just feels like Oda put more emphasis on Jinbe's joining than ever before, and since Robin, the joining of each crewmember was brought about by more importance. Chopper they had to fight through his emotional trauma to get him in, Franky they had to overcome Enies Lobby to earn his trust and then force him to join (no other crew member was actually FORCED to join) Brook, they had to fight a Warlord just to get him to join. So far with Jinbe, Luffy met him while in the worlds greatest prison, earned his trust during the world's greatest war, saved his home and then faced off against an Emperor and her entire crew alongside him, and he still isn't "part of the crew" until he shows up here in Wano. I just can't see any new crew members getting that much...umph, in concerns with their joining.

He could've just played to good guy for a few more years, poisoned Cobra or something and then just take over after his death. He would've become the de facto leader anyway since he would've had much more sway in matters due to his reputation.

I really don't get why they even keep him. They offed Oda #1 as soon as people in Japan started to lose interest because of EL (and he was the original!), Oda #3 has lost a third of support Oda #2 had.
