Nothing, everything was shit. Some vastly overrated shows aired.

this shit hit me like a truck a few days ago when i realised space dandy was over 5 years ago

Good god, it's all complete trash

was 2014 the last year of anime we can call good overall?

Cross Ange might have been the last time I had fun watching seasonal anime.

>UBW was in 2014
No fucking way..

That was a legendary season.

Dororo was good.

everything from this decade blends together and even though I can tell you when something aired it all feels like it could have been yesterday, as if time is paused. especially the last 5 years, I don't feel like there's been a lot of growth in any entertainment industry.

I'm still waiting for "My father is a loli".

Damn that was a pretty good season. I havn't seen that Akatsuki no Yona but I see it's by Pierrot.. any good?

>xv gets a second cour
almost had me there

Can you imagine the reaction when Extra ends from the anime-only watchers? I feel like an anime adaptation won't do it justice at all though, like what happened to YU-NO

God this hurts. All those manga which will never receive adaptations.

the main problem I see with a muv luv adaptation is how you blend all internal dialogue that takeru has. Also how everything related to a VN ends up being an important part of the plot

Man, I loved Psycho Pass. Surely S2 will be just as good.

Yeah we've all seen it.

>yotsubato anime
bait worked, had to fact check

>Terra Formars
>that shitfest was 5 years ago
>G no Reco
>Build Fighters Try
>Gundam has some how gone even further downhill in the last 5 years
Jesus Christ my life is an unending nightmare

>Garo HnK was five years ago.
>Shingeki no Bahamut was five years ago.
>Cross Ange was five years ago.
>Amagi was five years ago.
>Shirobako was five years ago.
>G-Reco was five years ago.

Reminder that Amagi was the last good Kyoani show they made.

what was the best season of the 2010s? Probably one of them in 2011

One of the seasons in 2016 I watched like 50% of the season... I hadn't done that since I first came to Yea Forums around 2009/10 and anime was new to me.
Maybe it was just the rain or something.

Fall 2012 was also really solid. It's interesting how sometimes you get those seasons where 90% of the shows are remembered or made an impact.

It's so rare for the long delayed sequels to match the quality of the original work. It still surprises me how great Mushishi Zoku Shou turned out to be.

Normally things get "stuck" for maybe three or four years, but this has been an unusually long "stuck" period. At least anime from the 10s is pretty distinctive vs anime in the 00s. I'm not sure I can say the same for a lot of other entertainment.

For me, 2015 had a lot of anime that I really enjoyed, and was one of the best for me. Having said that, a more objective look makes me agree with you- 2011 or 2016 had better series (but I didn't enjoy them as much).

Cross Ange. Good times.

Then there are times like the 80s where things change like mad.

Almost actively "unstuck".

Attached: 1336748301764.jpg (1335x2010, 802K)

I think the late nineties tended to calm down a bit.

As much as I like older shows, and as much as I like what's coming out now, I wouldn't mind another big shift (assuming it is a good shift). The current trend is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Isn't Mushoku actually happening?

There was big shift post madoka from the uguu kawaii stuff that arguably peaked with K-on! People may have went into that thinking it would be moe shit then discovering "something other than moe shit" that interested them.
Oh and normalfags did pay attention to SnK, hence you had some similar stuff to that.

Harem anime dried up too. I swear in 2010 it was literally 4 shows and the rest was harem shit.

That Yuuki Yuuna show seems like another Madoka-clone that will flop without the BDs going past the top 500

I swear 2016 was the first year where there was a genuine attempt to get deep thematically. I usually just watch for the PLOT, but that year was unusual.

>Isn't Mushoku actually happening?
Yes, it's happening. We don't know when yet though.

Harem anime had an impressively long run, if you consider Tenchi to be the first of the modern harem series. Maids had a decent run as well.

>Madoka

My only problem with Madoka was the bandwaggoners who followed it up with "cute girls but edgy" series, instead of using the opportunity to try something unique. The good and the bad of the 80s OVAs was the experimentation. Sometimes you got a turd, sometimes you got a gem, and sometimes you got a bit of both.

On the other hand, there are some pretty good derivative series. I guess it's like what Even a Monkey Can Draw Manga said- take a familiar concept and add a twist.

That's a bit like what happened 20 years or so earlier. You got a bunch of writers and artists maturing who wanted to build on what they did before. When it worked it was great.

Psychopass, Nanatsu no Taizai and Alicization.

And now we got isekai, the best_ genre there is...

The people shocked by Madoka are the ones that never saw Narutaru.
It's honestly ground that is barely touched. It's hard to nail.

I can't wait for log horizon S2 and psychopass S2. I'm sure these will be as good if not better than their S1.

>take a familiar concept and add a twist
That's how all new things are made.
Everything created is just an extension of the map already drawn.

86 got licensed in English. I'd say it had the best chances of anything on that list.

It has potential, but nobody has taken it to the next step.
You could get real fucky with it.

We might get a Kuro no Maou anime one day.

I'm still technically "watching" four of those. I have a problem.

Why is fall always the best season?

I meant more the "portal to another world" idea. It's literally kino.

Attached: 1567647194355.jpg (2048x1304, 400K)

Those Buddy Complex OVAs were really good

Cringe and fuck off.

I want highschool battle harem to come back

Not happening. Enjoy your isekai.

you wouldnt be saying that back then. As shit as isekai is at least theres some minute variation on each, highschool battle shows were literally the exact same

>saying this
Boy I remember when they were hot. Fuck that shit.

Jesus Christ why?

God they got so boring and cringy though, you almost had to watch them for nothing but the PLOT.
I'd just watch hentai at that point.

I think this was the season when two of those had pretty much the exact same first episode

Oh fuck there were so many stale shows like that around then.

no that was rakudai and asterisk
which ended up being kinda funny as rakudai was pretty good and asterisk was one of the worst battle harems ever

Thanks, I hadn't seen this in a while.

>Dungeon Meshi

At least it has somewhat become a reality.

WAIT, WHAT???????????????????????????

its a commercial for the manga done by trigger

Vanadis had severely underrated environments

Attached: 1566785892126.jpg (706x703, 219K)

Sigh. Way to raise my hope for nothing.

When the fuck's the new shift gonna come? normalfags are already noticing how stale has isekai become.
