Yeah, Re:CH is "polarizing" like that. It's the odd-one-out of the franchise, being extremely different from what it originally is, so people tend to either "love" or "hate" it more than any other adaptation.

I don't like Berserk. Monster is silly. I will never read Inio Asano because he's a creepy pedo who got abused as a child. FMA is gnostic propaganda. I've been told the Eva manga is better than the anime, but I still don't enjoy reading about homosexuals and girls with daddy issues.
Mashima is rubbish. Early Dragonball was alright. It's usually a nostalgia thing that people like it.
I haven't read any Adachi but maybe next year I can go through some of it. His character designs are simple but nice to look at, unlike the 60s and 70s designs which look like shit.

Centre is Natsu no Zenjitsu. Kingdom isn't even that long compared to other long running shounens, but the main issue with that manga is that the first arc has basically nothing to do with the rest of the manga aside from being an overly long backstory. After that, the manga gets better and better as it goes along. And Dorohedoro can't really be appreciated if you're looking for something that isn't boring, but it's a phenomenal manga if you like meandering trippy shit.

Yandex can't access the cropped pics from saucenao though, not even when you manually drag it over or copy the image link. Google can.
So for Yandex you do have to download and reupload. That increased effort is why I only ever use it when Google can't find anything at all.

make sure youre pressing the "Modified Search" button after you crop it to actually crop the picture
also, if you want, you can use the url yandex.com/images/search?source=collections&&url=%s&rpt=imageview to make a custom search engine (in chrome, theres probably a way to do it in mozilla) so all you have to do is type a keyword ("img" in pic related) into the search bar and copy paste the url, real easy

To install, you just have to make sure you have either Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey or something like that installed. Then:

1) Open the Pastebin, Select and copy the whole script.
2) Click your Tampermonkey-Addon Symbol and Select "Create New Script"
3) Paste the script into the editor and save.

That should do the trick.

Well, it's literally just searching for the image adress, writing it into the yandex-link, making it into a html-element and searching for a sweet-spot to put it. Simple stuff, really.

And as usual, making it look halfway decent (line 17) was the most work.

Well, I've explained that more than once already. So I'd just end up repeating myself.
For me, it's mainly about the characters. Not only the main characters, but also side characters, character interaction, stuff like that: All of my favourite anime and manga have characters who resonate with me. By that I don't necessarily mean that I "insert" myself into them, but simply that I find their personalities, motivations and coflicts intriguing, and I do usually find them sympathetic.

I do like when these characters have strong distinct themes conected to their arcs. Or sometimes, they just stand for something simpler, that does make sense in a bigger picture. That tends to be a common trait in the things I pick: Character focus.

Oh, and I do like overthinking things. So I tend to find themes rather easily. That's just something I do. But I can, in theory, overthink anything. Whether I actually do that depends on how much interest I have in something.

Other than that, yes, nostalgia does play a certain role. Of course it does. Even for newer things, the process of watching or reading it plays a role. Not the pivotal role, but nonetheless an important role.

I don't think I'm the only one who thinks along those lines. Characters and themes to connect with are probably a focus for many people, even though some might not reflect as much on those.

I could go into detail about specific things on my grids, of course, but that would be rather extensive and 3x3 threads are not necessarily the right place for that.

She's special to me, personally. She embodies traits and ideas that I respect and I can fully embrace. She is an ideal and complements me, and therefore I love her.

Throughout all her different iterations, she always keeps certain character traits, a certain core personality, that I find incredibly endearing: She's cunning, clever, more of a tactician and a thinker than a fighter, but also a manipulator and deceiver. She shows dedication and loyalty (sometimes too much of it), is empathic and has a clear "moral codex" (that can't always be considered traditionally good though). She's a doubter and always questions her actions, but at the same time she is very self-assured and proud of her skills. Therefore, she's smug and cocky, witty and always a bit of a trickster.

In some iterations, she's quite ruthless, in others she's loyal to her own detriment, sometimes stubborn when it comes to her ideals, sometimes to harsh towards herself. Sometimes she just does what she thinks is the right thing to do, and sometimes she decides against doing so.

I loved how Universe painted her inner moral struggle and turned it outwards (basically making her present humanity as a whole, as far as moral agency is concerned).
I loved her cocky and playful demeanor in the original anime and in Animal Kedaman, and in so many other iterations.
I loved how she always tried to keep out of trouble in the original manga.
And I loved the combination of ruthlessness, elegance and smug in Cutie Honey a Go Go.

Of course, she also has a great design, is always so damn cute, so damn pretty, and, of course, so damn hot. I don't think that those things make her special - that's really down to her personality. But, I won't lie: Her transformation skill is a pretty kinky perk and adds an extra bit of ... spice.

I guess in the end, it just comes down to me genuinely loving and adoring her for who she is.
She does bring out the best in me.

Whoever suggested this last thread. I read through it. The art was nice but it's the quintessential women's story. Retarded girl comes from rich/powerful family. She's hopeless at everything (but it secretly really strong/smart, she just has to unlock her powers). She's chased after by sensitive, but forceful, men who are overly romantic and obsess about her and only her. She ends up saving the day by releasing her true power and is loved and respected by everyone.

Idk more and more often I find that people seem to focus on plot more than anything. It probably doesn't help that many shows rely on character archetypes and that anime as a medium in general seem to attract certain types of autists who may find satisfaction in breaking down a story and approaching it as a puzzle to solve

I don't focus on the plot or the characters. I focus on the story being told. It's autistic to obsess about different aspects of storytelling if you lose sight of the big picture.

I, personally, find it hard to separate plot from characters. In a well written story, both characters and plotline should go hand-in-hand. Sure, there are a anime that do have extremely shallow characters that are completely disconnected to what's happening around them, but those are relatively rare.

The way you say it reminds me of Agatha-Christie-style whodunnits. But those traditionally do have detailled (if a bit clichée) characters.

But, yeah, I think I get your point. I guess there is a huge part of the general anime audience that doesn't care about character writing at all.
