No

No, it goes to shit real bad

If you don't touch the sequel.

Yes it's good

Fuck off ishita

You'll be high on this if you do.. but due to the mess re becomes, no.

Season 2 of the anime is good.

If you can stomach the first 20 chapters or so, you might enjoy the wild ride that is part 1. Just don't expect too much from the series when you reach a certain point in the sequel. If you ask me, I'd say seeing how much the art improves throughout the series on a dramatic scale like that, alone makes it worth.

Also, never listen to Yea Forums contrarians. Always try to form your own opinion.

Of course. Unless you are some faggot who pretends to read only 10/10 manga.

>muh contrarians
I don't see wan piss fags or snk fags saying their manga is shit unlike most tgfags here rightfully say

What does that have to do with anything you idiot? Also
>one fag claiming something = whole fanbase
This is your retarded mentality

If you pretend :re doesn't exist then yes, it's worth giving it a try.

Also, what's with all the hate for :RE? The series literally has its peak during Rose arc, so this alone proves you wrong

Anteiku raid was better.

Am I the only blown away that a lot of people think Tokyo Ghoul artwork to be good or even amazing? It's genuinely one of, if not the worst looking manga that I have ever seen. Out of hundreds manga that I read over a decade, it's one of the very few where the action scenes are so unintelligible, that without text you wouldn't be able to tell what is happening. Covers of the volume look pretty cool if you're into that kind of style, but the manga art itself is god awful.

Up until Kaneki dies and is replaced with an amnesiac version of himself. I couldn't make myself get through that part. Artwork is better than average and makes an attempt at realistic human proportions and hair that helps sell the realism of the setting.

Original TG is enjoyable as fuck.
Re: has a godawful ending that really sours the series as a whole.

It's true for the first 50-60 chapters or so, but then the art progressively gets better throughout the series. It may well be that you looked at shitty scans that didn't really capture Ishida's art well since it took viz a long time to to translate the manga (plus they only release an entire volume, never individual chapters) and they are still not done with translating. But you're right on the fighting part, the choreography can be really messy at times

Attached: 3.jpg (3444x1254, 1.14M)

I'd agree concerning choreography/ movement. Fight scenes at times feel randomly jumbled together. The rest I remember to look mostly good.

>But you're right on the fighting part, the choreography can be really messy at times
It really made me appreciate Kishimoto's way of drawing action where it's fluid but you can tell what's going on without outside commentary.

Have to admit, artwork does look better than I remember. One other thing i disliked about it is how Ishida made certain characters in panels encompassed with a lot of random lines. Like how middle-schoolers doodled in High school straight with a pen and without a pencil sketch first, and added buncha crazy lines everywhere. Dunno how to describe it better. So his art sometimes seemed to be in this chicken scratch scetch form

I hated how Ishida tried to make this series """deep""" with so many inner monologues from Kaneki and it ended up amounting to pretty much nothing.

I read thru the whole manga about a year ago. It's good but gets wierd when they head into that lab and then just says fuck it when they do that basket case of an ending

First manga is definitely worth a read.

Sequel goes to shit fast after the half way point and ends in a trainwreck.

I unironically enjoyed reading the first part, all of it, but :Re is a massive disappointment.

He pretty much decided to axe his own manga because he ran out of gas.
Maybe he should've taken some breaks from time to time.

Yes. Art is decent, and the first half of story is also very good.

I think Kishimoto's art degraded as the series went on since he tried too hard to imitate the anime style, but yeah his choreography remained consistent for the most part if i remember correctly. But it's not like Ishida always sucked at drawing action scenes, it just wasn't the primary focus of his manga

Yeah. It's interesting more or less. Don't listen waifufags

>random lines
You mean stuff like pic related? He literally only did it like two or three times and then only to emphasise on the emotions.

Attached: M9.png (974x1400, 650K)

you posted the peak of his art though....
arcs after Arima’s death were of poorer quality

He wanted to speed up the process of drawing so he began to transition from full digital to half-digital which ultimately ended up making the art noticeable worse since he wasn't used to that switch yet at that point.

When he commented on Vol. 9 he said the following:

>From this point on, the idea of “How can I finish my manuscript quickly?” greatly occupied my mind. I think it was around this time that work for another series (the game) came in. If I remember correctly. I had been drawing fully digital this entire time, but for this volume I experimented by interweaving digital with analog. We live in an era crazy about speed. However, because I couldn’t control the screen anymore, I had a rough time drawing this volume. I used a G pen to draw the characters. The line drawings were uploaded with the scanner, and I finished the final touches digitally. Since it doesn’t take a lot of time to write the storyboard, during this period I could finish the manuscript in 2.5 days, and set aside 4 days for other work. Thinking about the manga now, it would’ve been better if I’d spent my extra time focusing on it, but back then I thought doing this would be the best. This volume is the only volume where the characters were entirely drawn in analog. Since then, it has changed to drawing in analog for quick things, and for things that need to be drawn with more skill, drawing it first in analog before going to digital.

unironically most fun i've ever had reading weekly, don't know if it's worth binging though (most people on Yea Forums will tell you it's not worth it since it objectively gets worse at some point, but you have to find out for yourself)

The ending is indeed very rushed and a good few important plot lines get dealt with disappointingly or not at all but I'd venture to say that the narrowly defined main conflict & mc's arc close enough well enough so it's still easily one of the better battle manga around.

Only if you're willing to ignore the sequel.

The problem is that after the Rose arc it very quickly nosedives into absolute garbage territory, and it's easier to use the original's ending as a cutoff point.
Most people aren't going to read until chapter 60 or so of the sequel and then quit completely, so it's better to just avoid Re altogether.

>Re: has a godawful ending that really sours the series as a whole.
Let's be honest, it's not just the ending, it's the entire second half. Everything past Rose is either meh to godawful with a few, few small fun bits.

>Maybe he should've taken some breaks from time to time.
I agree with this. Maybe he wasn't allowed to, but I think if you have respect for your readers and for the material you're creating, you'll choose to take a break or even risk having your series cancelled rather than hacking together a shit ending.
That's why I can't accept what Ishida did.

It gets worse and worse

welcome to weekly long-running series

It's a decent read, definitely not a masterpiece but for sure if you don't mind gore, edgy dialogue it's got some decent substance. It's premise and the exploration of different themes throughout the manga is at times very barebones and the ending could've been much better but the worldbuilding is interesting with charismatic characters, decent fights and good art. If you've got time give a few volumes a read.

only if you'll worship /ourqueen/

Please don't start.

what's the point of reading it if it goes to shit so bad so don't bother
i'm still mad

Attached: EEDEBiNWwAIG_wG.jpg (1080x819, 49K)

It's garbage.

It's kino.

You could read part 1 and just act as if Re never happened and Kaneki just died at the end.

>shitto

Still and will always remain best girl to me.
I miss her, but I'm glad she no longer has to suffer.

Just the fact that so many people are mad at how it ended shows that it used to be really good and that alone I would say makes it worth a read.

Based. Best girl, but I won't judge anyone for liking other girls.

man, this manga had some sick covers

Vol. 13 of the original is probably my favorite manga cover
