>MC asspulls an extremely strong ability which has serious drawbacks
>said drawbacks don't matter in the long run
Why do so many manga do this?
MC asspulls an extremely strong ability which has serious drawbacks
because you're reading shit made for children. japanese equivalent of superheroes
because writing consequences is hard
To allow the early weaker villains to be a threat but still have the MC beat the stronger late game villains.
I bet you're one of those retards that actually believe that rufy won't die from the overuse of his powers.
name at least 3 examples
gon
how would you have the drawbacks matter?
Naruto
>MC creates an asspull move.
>Never Uses it again.
Star finger?
Sage mode?
What are you talking about must know
pretty much any battle shonen MC
>"if I keep using this ability I will die"
>MC keeps using the ability
>manga ends with him dying
Mods are fags with enforcing no non-anime images, enjoy your 1 day away.
Name one example.
Chrono Crusade springs to mind.
Kengan Asura
giorno
star finger gets used several times
OH MY GEAR SECOND
the MC from shield hero
OH MY HORMONES WILL TAKE HALF OF LIFESPAN
One Piece
>Sage mode?
Literally the rasengan shuriken.
Made in Abyss
I guess it's because there's always a newborn baby who doesn't know that it won't matter on the long run.
>name an example
>names one of the exceptions
Gon never regained his nen, user.
>mc has an OP ability which catches all opponents off guard and is unfair as fuck
>manga treats him as the reject underdog for some reason
one piece
Not even the right example from the series. Gon is fine, Kurapika is the one trading his hypothetical lifespan for power.
Yet. And only because the author is too lazy to actually make chapters anymore.
Yet.
He has nen he just can't see it, and he recovered from being a complete husk through a portable wishing machine.
He's obviously going to regain it you faggot
>MC has an ability that reduces his lifespan
>overusing it actually fucking kills him
One Piece
Dragon Ball
Naruto
>extremely OP rival character is introduced, MC barely defeats him/doesnt
>next arc he is equal in power to all the other good guys for some reason
Gear second puts enormous strain on the body and shortens one's lfiespan.
just kidding it's a generic power up that luffy uses all the time
Kaioken
Gear 2nd
Eight Gates
Projection
Superb Songs
Can't speak for all the nuShonen out there but I'm sure they're just as bad
Kurapika has actual consequences for his ability, and they're a pretty big focus of the current arc, actually. Gon just got a free wish.
>spoiler
WHY DID YOU REMIND ME? IM JUST STARTING MY DAY
R-REMINDER THAT T-THEY ARE SLEEPING, EVERYTHING IS FINE
based
Sorry. It crossed my mind and seemed remiss to question it without bringing up a suitable example.
I'd still classify Rosette and Chrono's tragedy to be one of the more worthy cases in action anime, even if the manga/show itself wasn't that amazing. The mangaka stuck to their guns and didn't pull a bullshit save-everyone ending and that's respectable.
I could do without Aion being alive in the anime ending though, that was just too fucking much.
*Swan Songs
>protag uses an OP move
>loses dignity instead of hit points
Is there an example of a dangerous forbidden technique that ACTUALLY fucks the MC up and has lasting consequences?
And no, Gon doesn't fucking count because he will get his Nen back.
See and
the MC of Kengan Asura actually dies from using his life-span reducing technique. Doesn't even win the tournament because of it either
based
Star finger is used twice in back to back fights as the only move used in the fight to instantly win, user
Then it is never used again barring the anime-original use in Anubis (and the anime original Silver Chariot Armor drop in Anubis)
