The light novels are all basically fanfiction. I don't get why everyone's up in arms over this one when the Itachi light novels made him 10 times more of a Mary Sue than he already was by making him able to pull off Tsunade/Sakura's jutsu before he'd even entered academy to protect his mother (who was a jounin) and by making him the record holder at the Chuunin exams.

While it's obvious that they didn't put any thought into that line when they wrote it, in Goku's defense, he didn't really forgive Frieza until after the Tournament of Power, he didn't really meet the Androids himself so he had no personal problems with them, only second hand problems, Piccolo dindunuffin and Vegeta pretty much wormed his way into his life while he was either away or dying from a heart condition, so he didn't have much input on the matter anyway.

Before that jutsu he was even worse than Sakura, while others have all these amazing stand out moves. Shadow clones basically only allowed him to stand equals with his peers, no more.
