Tbh I think it's more influenced by Japanese history, which is what you'd expect since it's a japanese author. There are some stylistic similarities with Jews (like the armbands) but it's worth noting that these are also common in present-day Japan.

I think if you look at some of the details, like Eldians being in control of Marley (read the manga), then it doesn't make sense as a straightforward allegory.

Well, Germany and allies did conquer much of Europe at their height during WW2, but in any case my argument isn't that Marleyans=Jews and Eldians = German gentiles, but rather that the idea of atoning for the sins of a genocidal eldian empire is probably mostly a metaphor for Japan's history during WW2 as well as the resulting pressure for them to atone for those war crimes.

Like I said, this is a huge deal in Japan and people think about it way more often than they think about Europe during WW2. I agree that there are certain similarities with Jews during WW2, but other details don't fit at all, but fit well with Japanese history. It's actually possible that Isayama intended to put in details matching both, to create the idea that "Japanese=Jews=victims", but maybe I'd have to read an interview or something to be really certain that is what he was going for.
