It sucks
Literally ass, the show
>ass pulls
>pizaass
>ass character designs
t.12 year old who only discovered anime recently.
Shit character, tons of better ones exist
What is the religion of the Britannia?
Lelouch was fucking dumb and the writing had to make everyone even dumber for his plans to work
>absolute fucking kino

A watered down Char Aznable is the best MC ever constructed? Watch more anime.
Commit suicide, subhuman.
presenting the real best mc ever constructed
Fucking nigger came in here and bumped this garbage thread. Please go jump in front of a bus.
who?
I'm not sure if I can think of a worse plot device than the Euphemia stuff, and Lelouch has random stints of hyper competence and crushing autism. Most of the cast honestly kind of sucks, but Rivalz, Orange, Lloyd, and that hot scientist that smokes are all pretty cool.
Yeah from a non hipster stand point the show is pretty great.
Lelouch would have been better as a girl.
I miss the illegal chess moves
this thread shows absolute st/a/te
Kenshin is literally the only protagonist that wouldn’t be better as a girl
It's the best anime ever made so far, if you take it for what it is (a typical mid-2000 sunrise mecha anime). Most criticism can and was debated and every other flaw is super minor and inconsequential for the anime as a piece of entertainment. Of course if you look for something different in anime you probably won't like it, but even after watching 600 more anime I will always return to it as my favorite as I simply have less issues with it on a fundamental level than with any other I've seen (especially in the genre).
Cringe
Based.
What's your geass power user?
As 26 year old boomer who watched tons of anime, I haven’t found anything close to it.
People often compare it to Death Note or Gundam but the latter are too large in scale and lack the over the top charm while the former lacks a single character worth caring about.
Never got complaints about that either. Thing was foreshadowed and Lelouch acted like him, the whole idea that he’s hypercompetent just isn’t true when he made dumb mistakes since the very first episode.
One of the most overrated shows out there. I'm glad that as time goes on people realize how fucking retarded they were for liking it back then.
A dumster fire designed by a boardroom of marketologists. I've yet to find anyone who can coherently explain in what way it's supposed to be good.
Only unironic brainlets hated CG. Ask anyone why they thought it was bad and they'll just regurgitate memes.
People would bitch about her too much and call Lulu a mary sue or something.
Besides, it’s not like him being a guy was relevant. Another underrated point is the lack of shitty romances.
its fun
And they did a great job unlike shit full of pandering like Darling.
CG is engaging on every level and handles adult themes in a juvenile way while knowing it does so. It’s basically a Shakespeare play with more world building and fewer jokes abouts dicks.
He's anorexic kaiba.
Kaiba was a dick to people for no reason, had no decent goal and generally came of like a sperg.
Lelouch gets a lot characterisation through his interactions with others like CC – something Kaiba only got from his brother, but he even acted like a dick towards him most of the time.
>I've yet to find anyone who can coherently explain in what way it's supposed to be good.
1) it is extremely entertaining in both serious and ironic way
2) it has some of the best direction ever seen in any anime
3) it is one of the most intellectually challenging anime ever made
4) it has one of the best soundtracks ever made
5) it had very good graphics for its time
6) it has one of the best protagonists ever made
7) it has the single best ending ever conceived in any medium
Dropped this shit after 10 episodes when does it get good?
Agree with all points sans 3. What's so intellectually challenging about it?
dump it
I think the key words were "ever made", because as far as anime goes it is actually relatively intellectually stimulating.
If an MC didn't deflower a loli, they ain't qualified to be a best MC.
Read something about political philosophy and game theory
It's definitely amazing, but I'm not sure why. I've rewatched it quite a few times over the span of decade I've watched anime and I still find hardly any reason to hate it.
Sure the "mindgames" aren't that incredibly clever and its no LoTGH for political commentary. It's just good fun while delivering good drama, comedy, action, and romance. It was also peak Yea Forums threads
It knew what it was "dumb mecha anime with plot twists and mind control powers" and handled that part pretty well
>5) it had very good graphics for its time
The animation on the mecha scenes was pretty good, pretty sure they'd do them with CGI nowadays to save time on animating them
Yeah, fair enough kinda missed that and now that I think about, I don't recall any intellectually stimulating anime works. Not that it's a fault of the medium, it just seems rare in visual media.
CG only touches these roughly and generally treats stuff in a very "wiki sum-up way".
That complaint about the Euphemia thing always bothers me.
Lelouch losing control of his geass was clearly foreshadowed and it was quite clear it was gonna bite him in the ass. The Geass will fulfill activate what he wants and desire, so it activating when he said that is appropiate because Lelouch desired the SAZ to fail at any cost. The only damnable thing is why that specific example, but it IS an action that is so unlike Euphie.
He never even made an excuse to Suzaku. Plotholes and bad writing are present in Code Geass, but the Euph thing makes complete sense to me.
Never understood the love for this anime.
Dozens of nonsensical characters who all do shit out of character for the "ebin twist" scenes. More holes than swiss cheese in the story. Ugly as shit character designs. That weird thing with the emperor wanting to trap everyone in a "world of memories" which basically seemed like they were trying to be Evangelion. Talking of rip offs they ripped stuff straight from LotGH, Death Note and Gundam and then dumbed it down hard. And of course the single worst example of writing ever with the Euphy bollocks.
I liked C.C. and the first opening song though.
he's certainly a lot more interesting than most MCs, but the impossible super-genius shit is a bit played out. would have been cooler if his plans were a little more realistic.
If you had a magic mind control eye would you look right at someone and joke about genocide? Plus the whole scene was just hilarious in general.
agreed, romances almost always ruin a show or at least waste your time while you're waiting for actually interesting stuff to happen. lelouch is a real chad, he has a loftier goal and sluts can't get in his way
Yeah if the battles actually had really in depth strategy with no asspulls and the anime focused on that I would love it. Instead it focuses on "muh shocking twists" to keep brainlets hooked.
its not the idea of him losing control that's bad, it was just really forced and cheesy. he had to literally go "and for example, what if I said this really bad thing that I don't want to actually happen ever". it could have been a LOT more subtle
Bruh this show is like ground zero for shipping cancer, tf are you on about? There's entire episodes devoted to romance and slice of life shite in the highschool (Which is another thing, I do wish the characters were adults, every highschool scene reminded me how dumb this anime is)
unfortunately a common trope. its hard to write truly smart characters unless you're smart yourself, and most mangakas are not tactical geniuses
When your magic mind control eye used to work perfectly well before, why would you even consider there being a chance of it staying perma active?
Great art steals from others and adds their own twists.
eh, kind of. there aren't really any explicit romances, the fanbase being horny and autistic doesnt make the show bad. lelouch/karen was hinted at but ultimately abandoned, and there arent really any other romances within the main cast
Based post, the only ones who dislike Code Geass are either seasonal-trash zoomers or 40+ boomers
I wanna fuck C2
Shippers having their own fantasies is fine. The show itself not wasting time on this is what's important.
HS crap added the levity to it. It's not supposed to be a character study about a guy fighting an oppressive government but a fun show that also touches dark elemenets.
>complaining about muh realism in a show where a teenage boy takes over the world
Way to miss the point this hard. None of Lelouch's feats would've been possible for anyone who wasn't a super genius, and even then there were times where his plans either didn't go as expected or he got straight up foiled by others, mainly Suzaku, who could nullify his strategy with Gundam-protagonist-tier brute force. The show was appealing because it was a chaotic struggle between Lelouch and the world, and was never intended to appeal to pseudo-intellectuals who wank over "deep intellectual strategies that only a true intellectual like me can understand".
>or 40+ boomers
Next to Darker Than Black and One Piece, it's one of the few animes my mom actually enjoyed. And she's almost a 60 year old boomer.
>I liked C.C. and the first opening song though.
So you dont find her design ugly?
Based and redpilled.
thats not what im saying at all, though. its just the way they write "geniuses" like this is just that they asspull all the time. theres no attempt to come up with a realistic plan, they just give the MC knowledge they shouldnt have an the excuse is "theyre just really fucking smart okay?".
not saying i didnt enjoy the show anyway, its definitely up there for me, but it would have been better if it was a bit more believable. its just an immersion thing
Oh yeah final thing from the CG hater in the thread (I don't actually hate it, I just feel it didn't live up to its premise and the first two episodes)
The ending that is so praised makes absolutely no sense. It's a well constructed scene for sure but dictators being assassinated rarely causes peace in their countries, in fact it causes the opposite as we see with the middle east. Not to mention the people who took power after him were all shown to be a bunch of retarded, treacherous bastards in the anime and suddenly they can work together?
Again, the only way the story could have progressed as it did was because Lelouch was an unbelievable super genius. If he wasn't, he probably would've just been killed by Mao or something, because no level of "believable" strategy could overcome many of the things that happened. It's your own fault you couldn't immerse yourself in it, because ironically you're not smart enough to understand why things had to be written that way.
>Not to mention the people who took power after him were all shown to be a bunch of retarded, treacherous bastards in the anime and suddenly they can work together?
They worked together before and had Schneizel as an AI zombie.
The power vacuum didn't happen because the right institution already excited and was just disbanded by him. Actual dictators tend to kill them off.
I guess it's just not the show for me. Its just I love the idea of the setting so much and the strategy shown in the second episode was actually really good and made sense I thought the show was something other than it was I guess. I totally get why people like it, I just want another show with the same premise that's a bit smarter and adult (Not being pretentious in saying that btw, its just what I need to fully enjoy something.)
Strangely no, I thought the long legs and face was jarring on everyone but strangely appealing on her. I guess i'm just a sucker for Kuudere's
A more adult version would be cool too but it'd would need to be much longer and generally would be a totally different show, since a guy and bunch of terrorists overthrowing an empire isn't going to happen in half a year unless he is a magical genius.
Writing aside. It had some pretty amazing production values.
The voice acting was incredible which sold a lot of the dramatic parts. Even the non main cast had some pretty good voice acting or at least memorable. The ost was nice and unique. The action was good
You probably liked it early because realistic strategies could be applied to winning small skirmishes, but once it got to the point where it was Lelouch waging world war and fighting against other magic powers it just became impossible to solve without him being a super genius. Not sure what your standards are exactly for a 'realistic, adult' show where someone takes over the world from scratch, considering nobody in our own real world has managed to pull it off (and if they did it would be the collective government's achievement, not one guy's), obviously because it's too difficult to accomplish in reality.
Checkmate.
The closest match is probably Napoleon and it took him years and tons of fine politicking. Plus obviously in an era where a good information network alone gave a massive advantage.
>Dozens of nonsensical characters
CG characters make more sense than the vast majority of anime characters
>who all do shit out of character
such as...?
>More holes than swiss cheese in the story.
such as...?
>Talking of rip offs they ripped stuff straight from LotGH, Death Note and Gundam and then dumbed it down hard.
"dumbed down"? More like "vastly improved"
>And of course the single worst example of writing ever with the Euphy bollocks.
You mean something that was abundantly proven to make 100% perfect sense over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again?
Much longer and a totally different show is basically what I came up with when I tried to think of how it could've been better.
Yeah the early skirmishes are what really drew me to the show and kept me watching. Which is why the second season is so disappointing with its battles being decided on who has the super special mech.
I'm not saying I won't permit anything unrealistic or magical to be in the show. Hell I like magic systems but they have to be clear and defined with no asspulls.
A really long anime about Napoleon or the war of the Roses or Roman history with autistic detail is basically my dream show lol.
I'm aware i'm the minority.
What battles in the second season were even decided by the superior mech? The China battle was ended by Lelouch broadcasting the government's maliciousness, Kallen's new mech debut was ended when Suzaku fired the nuke, the final battle was ended by Lelouch securing the nukes despite the Black Knights having the superior mechs. The mechs were ultimately just there for flashy mech combat scenes and never actually were the cause of victory.
>A really long anime about Napoleon or the war of the Roses or Roman history with autistic detail is basically my dream show lol.
Would be fucking great but yeah, tricky to make it also interesting for an average viewer to get it greenlit.
His mech was how he even gained enough time to trick the eunuchs. Otherwise his army would've been buried. Besides characters in their special mechas generally had disproportionate influence on battles.
I just view the shit as basically magic so it never affected my disbelief too much.
The people revolted like half a minute after his mech debut. Really all it did was show Xing Ke what a nice guy he is protecting him and his loli.
>characters in their special mechas generally had disproportionate influence on battles
I sure hope you don't simultaneously praise LoGH for having special 'ace' combatants who were more effective than the nameless grunts.
They all have enough romance and drama to keep people interested I think. Can't believe I missed out Alexander the Great as well. Although people may complain about how gay that show would be.
>"Hey wouldn't it be crazy if I told you to kill all the nips?"
Several fights are decided because of the debut of super special mechas, whereas the rules in LotGH were very defined before anything happens.
I haven't watched CG in a while so I can't respond to all your points in a way where i'd be completely satisfied with the solidity of my case.
Maybe i'll rewatch it, it's entertaining enough and i'll get to see C.C.'s ass again. I did think about becoming an AniTuber at some point and I was going to make a series on CG as one of my first criticisms but I decided it would be a supreme waste of time, there's too many AniTubers already and I don't have the work ethic for it.
Again, Kallen's super special mech debut ended in a loss/draw, because despite Suzaku getting utterly thrashed he still had his nuke. The only fight I can think of is Suzaku killing off a bunch of jobbers in his new mech, which was just all done to set up a conference anyway so it was hardly a high stakes battles, whereas the actual high stakes battles all ended by non-mech methods.
>whereas the rules in LotGH were very defined before anything happens.
Like the special axe guys (rosenritter or whatever) having a 100% evasion rate against guns for some unknown reason until it was decided that it was time for them to die so they finally became vulnerable to guns near the end then died? Special named characters being superior to grunts exists in basically every form of storytelling so I don't know why you're even complaining about it.
why dont he commands hot girls to suck his cock 24hrs non-stop? GAY!
>I sure hope you don't simultaneously praise LoGH for having special 'ace' combatants who were more effective than the nameless grunts.
Not at all. And just for the record, I do love CG, but it also makes finding things I dislike about it so easy. Though funny enough, Akito went with a more realistic approach beyond the centaur thing, and it just didn't feel too enjoyable. Mech battles are pretty stupid so CG treating them the way it did and not caring too much about realism was the right call. Just a shame it has mechs at all.
It's the mix that'd make it problematic to sell. Similarly like War & Peace, where a lot people only love the certain parts but dislike the overall book.
Let's also not forget the punic wars, Hannibal could bring some diversity on TV!
When it comes to character stuff I only recall a video going on about Lelouch, so there is a lot room. And specially CC is such a crucial element IMO. The dynamic between them help to ground Lelouch so much.
>Suzaku getting utterly thrashed he still had his nuke
Which he didn't plan to use. Besides the whole capture Cornelia being such a pain because of her piloting skills was just lame.
Because he knows there is more to life.
>Which he didn't plan to use.
But he used it anyway because of something Lelouch did to him in the previous season, and it ended up causing Lelouch a lot of grief. It's almost as if that kind of thing is what made the show so entertaining, which is the chaos of Lelouch's actions and their consequences, rather than anything to do with mechs.
what is life without cocksucking?
Watching CC's ass obviously.
>what is life without cocksucking?
only zoomer and cumbrains hate code geass
At least you've revealed where you're from so I could disregard your "opinion".
Hannibal yes! Definitely would have the best chance of being adapted as it isn't *too* long and complex but has lots of drama and cool twists to keep an audience. Brb calling Ufotable.
The dynamic between Lelouch and C.C. was definitely one of the best parts of the show. The way they trusted and supported each other in their weak moments and worked together to pull off stuff was awesome.
Maybe I will make that channel one day, who knows. Final year of uni coming up so it'll be after that though :(
absolute based kino anime
That's another thing, if you're gonna do fanservice go all the way, none of this camera angle fuckery, show me C.C. in all her glory damn it!
200 IQ required to answer this question.
I got a feeling that you're a SEAnigger or a spic.
You sound like a faggot. Stop posting.
Get the fuck out.
Let's play spot the redditard tranny in this thread.
I find that a lot of fans overrate the "complexity" of Code Geass. The fact that Lelouch is supposed to be tactical genius is undermined by the fact that he has to rely on his Geass in order to make of his plans work. If he's such a genius, why does he have to rely on a cheap plot device rather than ACTUALLY outsmarting and outsmarting his opposition?
Found it!
Because when all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail?
Are you listening to yourself?
>why does this supposedly smart guy keep using the most powerful tool at his disposal?
Gee, I wonder. Also, he made plans that didn't rely on his geass at all on multiple occations.
>this shitty thread is still alive
Thanks, worthless mods.
Kill yourself.
>Best
No
>Very fun
Yes.
If you really think they're ass pulls you didn't pay attention. CG likes to foreshadow things subtlety using characterization.
I want to dump promotions but I'm already too tired.
>The voice acting was incredible
Even more surprisingly, it was great for both versions. How often does that happen?
Definitely the best part of Code Geass desu.
cute
Why is she so perfect?
No one cares, dubfag.
God I want to cuddle her so hard
Why wouldn't you watch a perfect dub?
For a dub it wasn't bad, but a lot of characters definitely lost their presance especially ones without as many lines.
Charles, Orenji, Xingke, Tamaki off the top of my head. And you literally can't forget Nunnaly's gut wrenching sobs at the end
This is now a CC thread
It aged like milk.
Geassism
Charles, Xingke and Nunnaly are fair points though I'd the say they got the others right, and JYB just kills it despite how good the original Lelouch. was.
It became cheese?
Don't bully CC!
Wrong.
Hnnnng I want to creampie her asshole desu.
>As 26 year old
>boomer
This stupid meme getting out of hands
Spoken like a true 20 year old boomer.
Can't believe that dickless baka Lelouch didn't fuck her, oh well, I guess i'll have to do it.
He was still a kid and she's old enough to be his grand grand grand grand granny. It'd be icky. Them taking the relationship slowly was a good call. Now as LL he probably will.
Reminder that op is a fag and that the only good mc’s in anime are okabe and light
>Okabe
What is even his personality?
>Light
Genius that is only smart enough for school and has a world view of a 12 year old with brain damage.
>t. Pepole who havent seen steins gate
I want to eat her pussy like she eats pizza, WHILE she eats pizza!
Very one note with Kurisu being the only interesting character.
Okabe litterally does everything he can to save the world and loses the entire comedic side and theatrics when myuri dies and shows that he is layered and that he really cares for the people in his life
Light is just interresting because he is a psychopath or at least is turned into a despisable person that doesnt need that much of a personality its just the insanity that makes him enjoyable and what was needed for the show to work, i agree that he isnt smart at all and that deathnote is filled with retarded contrivances but light vs l is fun even with all the bad writing
Have sex.
And that cheese became delicious cheesecake.
>Okabe litterally does everything he can to save the world
But why? It's been a while since I saw Steins; Gate (and I couldn't finish the sequel) but I don't recall what the fuck drove him nor why I should care about the shit. He was a functional protagonist but lacked really strong characteristics whether it came to strengths or flaws. Like, I can imagine him being my buddy or that weird neighbour I hang with here and there but not much more.
>shows that he is layered and that he really cares for the people in his life
That was apparent right away though. Don't get me wrong, I liked the first season and the OVA but it's not something I'd ever want to rewatch nor could feel too strong about. And specially Myuri was so fucking annoying IMO, which made it hard to care about him wanting to save her. (Even Nunnaly who was a similar type of character wasn't as bad at thankfully didn't get as much screen time)
>light vs l is fun even with all the bad writing
Of course but it was more due the good bits of writing than his character. The conflict was well executed (and the direction in the anime was great) but after you saw it once (or until L dies) it's just very "aight" tier. Code Geass on the other hand is infinitely rewatchable.
>samefagging this hard
god faggots like you are pathetic
