Slayers, NEXT and the OVAs with Naga were mostly goofy except for big moments. Konosuba is mostly goofy except for big moments, although it slips more jokes in per capita.

They have a similar "D&D party fucking around" vibe, with character-based humor/banter serving as backbone. Megumin might as well be Lina's kid sister.

They're both ill-tempered, scumbag low-teen mage girls who solve problems with violence, are flat as a board, have a nuke-class signature spell, eat a lot and aren't above theft, while still having heroic traits. Megumin's chuuni chanting is also reminiscent of Lina's black magic chants.

Again my issue with the statement is that Kono never goes dark, whereas Slayers does go dark, very goddamned dark, more than once. Even in Next you end up with horrifying shit like the guy making a demon pact and sacrificing hundreds to bring back his lover, only to find out that's not something the demon can do and she's stumbling vessel filled with souls begging to die, then suicide bombs.
