I don't even think I filled everything out
but, idk. How deep are you?
How anime deep are you
Just began fourth tier.
Where's ket ai ?
I just realised that I haven't finished half of the anime that I put into brackets but good tier list. Very useful in cases I need recommendations
I forgot to use my pic
I don't know, maybe 2?
I recently finished Blame!
I've seen pre 1960s anime out of curiosity yes.
I guess this is the one time that it didn't find a way.
Why is Leiji Matsumoto or Lupin III so down in that pic?
Is this supposed to be a fucking joke?
>Level 5 is 'Obscure Gundam shows
>Double Zeta
>JoJo not level 1
JoJo might be the most mainstream anime that's currently airing in the West, with the exception of Dragon Ball Super
I honestly don't even watch anime that often and I am in tier 5 of this chart.
Shit chart.
And I could arguably be level 6 just because I watched a touhou doujin anime once
Pooof
Just about everything I haven't seen is stuff I want to see.
5cm/second is in there twice in pretty different places, which goes to show that even the creator of this chart ranked things with a fair amount of randomness
>Gundam X and G-Reco is a shortcut to mid tier 5
bullshit, X was pretty damn enjoyable the whole way through and doesn't deserve to be so underrated. G-reco wan't that hard to follow but still trash.
Something like Victory or SD or AGE would fit better.
I think this was made before Stardust Crusaders aired and Jojo hit mainstream levels of popularity. Or even before DP anime in general, where all we had was that part 3 OVA and that part 1 anime noone talks about.
>a casual trip to /m/ automatically gets you to tier 5
What are some actual tier 5 worthy shows?
where does this go?
What a shit chart, showing its age as stated, and its North America bias. My very first anime flung me down to the 5th level instantly - where I came from, literally almost EVERYONE my age and their mom watched longrunning classics e.g. Doraemon
Does watching astroboy throw to bottom tier?
Whoever made this is retarded and I hope this person feels bad. Especially the part at the end of tier 5 about show's you've never heard anyone mention, that's so relative to how much you engage in anime discussion and actually look for discussion, and not so much what you actually watch.
Also, it's way too easy to get to tier 5, and any casual viewer will have stumbled on several of the tier 4 shows. Magic Knight Rayearth and other similar shows occasionally ran on mainstream TV channels over here, and I know plenty of people who wouldn't even consider themselves people who watch anime or even really know the term anime who have seen those.
Fucking Macross and Gundam in tier 5, jesus christ.
Seeing the chart is shit, what would you put on lower levels?
It's a lot easier to think about obscure manga, even if translated, with anime even stuff like California Crisis gets well known pretty fast.
This list is fucking retarded
Maybe something like Belladonna of Sadness.
I always head right to the bottom because part of my job is looking at 1930-40's era Japanese propaganda movies which include animation.
>my job is looking at 1930-40's era Japanese propaganda movies
What job?
What the fuck is JoJo doing that far down?
Can I have your job?
Most nerdy French kids in the 80s and 90s are anime experts according to that pic
It's a born-in-the-late-90s amerimutt redditor list
i guessing most have seen the touhou shit. so is everyone near the bottom?
2hu is 3-4 at best so no
doujin anime no?
>FMA is entry level shit for normies
At least this chart knows where it belongs.
I work for a British University that co-operates alot with Japanese Universities, its part of my job to look over some of the research material that's exchanged between the two, including black and white reels of propaganda movies.
going by what i remember taking a while to get a seed. gotou ni naritai took about 6 months for some kind soul to seed an eng subs version
>hxh
>evangelion
>fist of the north star
>jojo
>nhk
>obscure
Touhou's pretty popular among otaku though, doesn't seem right to think you're some crazed obsessed anime fan wanting to get your hands on everything after seeing a popular fan-made animation.
I've seen everything listed in that image
A lot of those are shit tho, why so many meme shows?
>why is shit from the 70s considered obscure?
Is this a serious question or are you just retarded?
How many people do you think were regularly watching anime in the 70s-90s vs now? How many people who started watching anime even in the past 10 years are going to go back to something that first aired in Japan nearly half a fucking century ago?
>goes to show that even the creator of this chart ranked things with a fair amount of randomness
More likely this was made by different people who added more titles as they reposted it.
Lupin has always been pretty popular tho. I'm a zoomer and grew up watching Lupin on TV.
I really enjoyed Tenshi no Tamago and don't feel obsessed at all. This chart is shit.
>Poop is a safe bet
Night Shift Nurse is fucking entry tier tho
Lupin is enormous in Italy, also a franchise that's still alive today. Here in my country Harlock is quite important, Go Nagai and Mazinger Z were even more, could be the most important show for the 70's generation easily. Not the whole world is the US. And of course none of them is what you would call "obscure", even the most normalfags know about those series because they were famous and they were on TV for decades. I could ask my father and he would probably know about those series and you're pretending they are "obscure" by any means?
>US bias
The meme is in fucking English. Did you think it was made by the united global collective of anime fans or something? Of course it has US bias, who the fuck do you think made it? If you want a meme relevant to your regional tastes go fucking make one for your random country.
Yes, Lupin III is obscure, if the most popular anime list site is a representative sample of anime fans and our cutoff threshold for "obscure" is "less popular then random garbage from THIS season that basically nobody is watching".
By accounts I'm at tier five because I've never seen anyone here talk about Iria Zeiram but that doesn't really seem right to me, I'm more of a tier four kinda guy at this point.
It's mentioned often in the pre-2000 threads, the other day I found figurines were sold in the US in mid 90's so it had some following, but most weirdly, they were from the movies.
>tier 5 has 40000+ users on mal anime
lol
master of martial hearts
>Utena, Fist of the North Star, and Space Dandy
>tier 4
I don't think you're bottom of the iceberg if you've seen Anno's college animation projects but whatever I've been doing this a long time so I can't tell
Lain that low? It's experimental but basically entry level at this point
>End of Evangelion that low
This list was made by someone who doesn't watch anime
>tier 5
>lupin the third
But I used to watch it on TV as a kid?
>stringendo
I'm a tourist
>Nadia
>deep
