Same reason they did for female characters. The more bland a design, the more it appeals to the masses. They're trying to appeal to as many people as they can, so if they make too radical a design, they risk turning some people off. Better to offend no one by creating a cookie-cutter character.

I love this show, nobody ever talks about it.

For me, its Haku, He's a true killer and iconic.

More lowkey than the other posts, but everything about him is perfect. The silver hair, the muted colors, the blankness in his eyes; they all give off an otherworldly quality that you would expect from the meijin.
