One Piece is a reinvention of shonen tropes mixed in with amazing character development, worldbuilding, and story. Oda plans story arcs and characters years into advance before he finally introduces them in the story. For instance, he had the concept of Zou down and even teased the country before Marineford started, and Minks were introduced in Sabaody.

Eden's Zero is pretty mediocre in comparison.

Fairy Tail and Eden's Zero are both shit, but Fairy Tail had that mystery aspect to its lore such as the disappearing dragons, the mystery of Zeref, and how magic worked and where it came from that eventually turned out to be a nothing burger by the timeskip.

And Eden's Zero is practically just space criminals, aliens, and robots. Only real mysteries so far is Mother, but she's end-game anyway, and constant time-space warping phenomenons.

Overall, both series are shit, very much so compared to One Piece.

One Piece had a lot more depth in its first 60 chapters than anything from Mashima. Oda teased a hell of a lot more and laid the groundwork for future arcs.

So there have been some rumblings that the big robot at the end actually might be running on Valkyrie's core, which could have been secretly removed from her body by the villains before she died. And because no one in the district dared to touch her body out of respect (and maybe got slapped if they so much as tried), they probably wouldn't have noticed any signs of tampering.

As far as Mashima resurrections and "It just LOOKED like this character died when he/she actually didn't" scenarios go...I have to admit, this would be a hell of a lot stronger reason to bring someone back than most of the stuff he came up with for Fairy Tail. We saw Valkyrie's last moments alive in that body, but not necessarily the actual moment of her death, and it's been three years, so anything could have happened.

Compared to Lisanna, where Mashima showed her "final moments" in Chapter 117, but then slapped on the explanation that "oh, she just got sucked into a portal into the sky right after that" in the exact same scene we discover she survived, this would be a pretty sensible twist, depending on how long it takes for the core to stop moving.

These "Mashima ripped off OP" are getting progressively dumber.

That she did, yes...but until that reveal, everything pointed to Earth-Lisanna being dead and Edo-Lisanna being alive. It was an out-of-nowhere twist with zero signs that this is what really happened. With Valkyrie, there are potential signs to her possible survival already. So long as these signs are followed, this would be a far, FAR less cringey way of bringing someone back.

But I'm not saying any of this because I don't want her to stay dead and have Homura actually learn to deal with it. I'm just...bracing for that Mashima impact that's been around in his work from the very beginning.
