It just doesn't have much depth

it just doesn't have much depth.

I'm not the most fervent of fans when it comes to the shounen drama. I'm one of those individuals who proclaim Fairy Tail and Bleach to be utter garbage and Naruto to be the definition of mediocrity. I find most shounen bland, uninspired, and incredibly predictable, utilizing the same old tropes and mindless action scenes. There were some exceptions, however; Dragon Ball was the anime to truly initiate this structure of storytelling, attributing it with originality. One Piece perfected this structure and by doing so set itself above all of its contemporaries. Full Metal Alchemist offered some philosophical depth to shounen, which made the story much more compelling. Then I came across Hunter x Hunter, a manga that initially appeared to have mastered the concept of shounen, much like One Piece. Yet before my finger could click on the "8/10" rating, Hunter x Hunter blossomed into a manga that transcends shounen. A deconstruction of shounen that will stand the test of time, imbued with complexity and intelligence and featuring one of the darkest tone shifts I've ever seen. Hunter x Hunter is a masterpiece.

It has a pretty solid world building, coherent character development creative fights and is overall really fun.

no anime or manga has depth.

It's shonen, what did you expect?
The best parts about HxH, is it's refined elements that let it hit higher peaks when the show rises to higher stakes.

Bro this is the best anime since jojo and you really wanna diss it like that?

Why would you make a thread about something and just spout buzzword when actual discussion was on its way ?
You could just elaborate on your criticism, then we can go back and forth, agree on stuff and disagree on other but instead you chose to be a fucking faggot.

I honestly think it's just a bored false flagging shitposter. Report and ignore.

trap twink on the left.

No shit. It's in a magazine for middle schoolers.

The part where netero said that he will win because humanity has a great capacity for malevolence is quite deep and not often seen in anime I think.

Gon is trash tho. The whole «Revenge and guilt is bad for you» is pretty shallow, despite being a deconstruction of namek goku and things like that.

Why do you think the message of revenge being bad is shallow? Do you disagree with it or do you find the execution to be lacking?

No he's sayin he already won before it even started and the only reason meruem wasnt nuked instantly on birth is because of human cruelty

True but you cant deny it tells a very entertaining story. The philosophy may be very surface level but gon's descent in the chimera ant arc is honestly the most interesting thing done with a shonen protag ever

And the plethora of high school ecchi dramas in seinen magazines are much more mentally stimulating.

It isn't really meant to have that much depth. HxH is a character-driven story so the themes are just a shadow of the author's beliefs, rather than something that is manifested in some kind of moral.

It just don't have much cute girls appeal.

The last show where you gladly sat through 100+ episodes of it then felt empty because there was no more to watch at the end. More HxH would save the industry.

Because «blinded by revenge» is a pretty commin trope already. The difference in HxH is that the recipient of it is the MC, rather than some edgy rival character (Vegeta, Sasuke, Roy Mustang, etc).

It's pretty good but not as good as the rabid hunterfags say it is

>look at all the hunterfags falling for a low-quality bait thread

There are far more differences that make the anti-revenge message more poignant, though.

Namely, Pitou isn't exactly a bad, sadistic, or unreasonable creature. She was mostly doing as she needed with Kite. Like a beast. Envy and Freezer are downright monsters. Danzo was somewhat reasonable, but he was still given no likeable traits. Meanwhile, Pitou's final thoughts are that she is happy that it was her who died and not Meruem and the other bodyguards.

And it was the same early on with Uvogin. Sure, he was given a violent murderer, but he was also portrayed as brave and loyal. Which made the fact that Kurapika was killing him gross unto itself, rather than just "steeping down to his level" like with Mustang.

that doesn't look like pea-too

The threads are always nearly 100% bait.
