It was better when it was a "survival story" or now that is a "war story"?
It was better when it was a "survival story" or now that is a "war story"?
the notZombie shit was alright but got old fast, introducing monkey trouble changed gears at the exact right time to keep it interesting imo
It's boring now. Prefer before.
>survival story
>revolution story
>war story
>holocaust story
>metaphysical bullshit story
When it switches so much you just call it a novel and don't bother.
Is the story going to end without ever addressing crystalized annie?
after Eren gets out of the PATHS he's going to eat the Jaw Titan and use his power to eat Annie too
brainlet opinion
You mean "lmao all according to keikaku time travel story"?
>speedreader or braindead
It was a war story since the beginning
This.
Imagine if we give this brainlets stuff like logh or gundam the origin. Their last neuron would explode.
Imagine being caught up on the series and still calling it "attack on titan"
Embarrassing. Isayama should have ened this trash in 20 volumes like he planned to
進撃の巨人 is the most kino and fash story of this century. Hoes mad.
>muh survival zombie story
>Muh Sasuke Uchiha 2.0 with timetravel and cuck father and brother
>muh i prefere the boring shonen guy instead of the anti-hero who is doing everything to save his lands and the people he love
Plot was far more interesting when it was not only about Eren, but also about characters like Armin, Erwin, Levi, Hange and so on, while also holding a lot of mistery that adds charm to the experience. Now story basically about jerking off to Eren because he's so cool and edgy, while his cuck brother and cuck father crying in the corner
It’s portrayed as a war story from the beginning. Even if there was nothing more to the Titans than being giant Zombies and the Walls were really that last of humanity, it doesn’t have many core characteristics of Zombie survival stories like total breakdown of society at large, end of authoritative institutions, and “everyone for themselves” mentality. Instead, the titans and the Elidian military are portrayed as to opposing armies, even if the former lacks inteligence.
Also, It's so fucking cringe how people suddenly think Eren became more interesting and CoMplEx after timeskip. He still one dimesional retard who screams about freedom every 5 seconds. Kenny and Erwin were the only good written characters in this mess
honestly this
remember when the show was about people who had no hope of survival against eldritch horrors and not a minority that other people are mean towards?
I'm glad he changed it up before the formula got old. Now it's one of the best manga ever
Read this post. Then reread it. You are a fucking clown.
shut up, delusional aotcuck
>user prefers fighting mindless titans to fighting humans capable of much worse atrocities
sounds like you should grow the fuck up
Went from battling the impossible, facing total despair, figuring out the secret how to win an impossible war, the horror in face of te unavoidable defeat to le nazis were bad mkay, way better in the begging without zeppelins and other bullshit technology, also the writer is a complete hack that drops storylines non stop
basically this
>the writer is a complete hack that drops storylines non stop
Based
>one dimensional
>eren
Sorry, but you didn'understood his character.
He feel really bad for all his actual actions, if there was another way to end the conflict without killing or sacrifice anything he would actually choosen that way. But his vision made him realize that it was the only solution, whike willy's declaration of war was the proof that he was right and there isn't a peacefull solution possible.
For this reason he is going full evil, because he have no other way to protect his country, he just accepted his role as Monster in order to archive the salvation.
It would have been better if these were explored in separate arcs or at least given alot more focus individually but no it's just a hodgepodge of random nonsense people will swear up and down that not only makes sense but was planned.
Man, everything was literally foreshadowed , if yoy were to blind to understand it its your fault.
Everything you described is pretty one dimesnional. Eren had pretty much zeo character develpment since the beginning of the story. There's nothing complex or interesting about his character.
Can we just laugh at people who think Isayama planned everything from the beginning? lmao
The arcs have been varying amounts of good to stupid but you can't say the enemy or obstacle that had to overcome wasn't clear and worked with the overall plot well.
You sound like you want some drastic tone/character/art shift or something per arc but that is only because you have shit taste, I'm sorry for your loss user.
He said they wouldn't let him publish anything unless he had an ending in mind
its perfect with how it transitioned
brought in a bunch of retard shonen kids with the beginning, introduced them to something deeper
>eldritch horrors
Do you know what eldritch is, you fucking retard? Are you just using words you don't understand knowingly?
Yeah-yeah
The story is about freedom. Each arc is a larger obstacle standing in the way of our heroes as they battle against the odds for freedom.
Part 1: Our countrymen v.s. the Invaders.
Part 2: Our countrymen v.s. the corruptors in our own government.
Part 3: Our country and it's allies v.s. the enemies that wish to destroy our people.
>zero character development
>he literally developed between unprising arc and Rts arc, while Marley arc and current arc are the culmination of his development
That's the true believer to a t
Oh there's time travel coming up? Nice, now I know I can skip watching the final season.
>Humans are the real monsters!
just go hunting one nigger, you'll see why we stomped everything out and why the dark is scary.
It's not time travel. It's just memory manipulation. Which is already in the series as an established Titan power.
It was a "survival story" for only a few episodes. As soon as Eren came out of the titan that stopped.
T. An idiot who isn't able to understand the manga
If you want to find cheap excuses to shit on SnK, well, im sorry to you?
I don't care what Yea Forums thinks. AoT is by far the best Anime I've watched (now reading), Eren is a typical hot head, but gets beaten down and has an interesting development. The rest of the characters aren't useless, they can be edgelords but entertaining. The plot twist genuinely surprised me, and the story seems cohesive. Everything feels like it has a purpose. It's nice they don't put a lot of dumb anime humor in the show (at least keep it to a minimum). The plot points or even some of the ideas are retreads (story is somewhat similar to Claymore) but the way it's presented feels fresh. You guys can call me a faggot but I'm hyped for the 4th season.
Also, Levi is rad as fuck.
youtu.be
Watch more anime
It was better without time travel, timeline interference or closed time loops, whatever you wanna call it.
And it was goofy from conception
AoT is popular so the gatekeepers of the super secret anime club won't like it, yet they'll watch sol anime #156 and call it a masterpiece. I like how grimderp it gets, and I like how edgy it is. I miss being 8 and renting Ninja Scroll on VHS and being shocked at the violence. Yeah it's cheesy, but I miss shock factor in anime.
Finally a reasonable answer
I like both the same
The story evolved over time and did not get stale
I also like that the amount of redpill based isa has been putting into the story increased over time
At least one based goy itt
I swear most of the people in these threads either dont get it or push the "Eren is the villain cause white people bad" bullshit
Novels don't switch genres every 5 minutes. Only manga whose only goal is to run for as long as possible and have no tangible vision of their ending do that.
Hunter x Hunter especially
titan lore ruined it for me.
I like the shut-in island but the whole titan-race holocaust was just too fucking ridiculous
Anime was garbage. Manga better?
no he just likes the word, and he thinks it makes him sound smart.
>Hurrr durrr i cant keep up because im a brainlet so the show is bad.
no
It was never good
Anime cutted a lot of interaction from s1 (for this reason many characters were monodimensional) and cut a big part of uprising arc during the first cour of s3 (mostly because in the manga that arc was complicated and slow asf). S2 and the second cour of s3 are overall faithfull of the manga, and the s4 ,if it will be faithful adapted, will probably be the best one.
The theory about titans being biological weapons has been around since the very beginning.
Everything makes sense, it was just put in a global setting and people are that stupid they cannot keep up.
I only recently started reading about 3 months ago and I'm glad I waited this story is amazing I love the direction it's going in.
reminder that people shitting on SnK do so because they don't want it to appear popular among Yea Forumsnons
they have read the manga and enjoyed it
This thread is full of so much edge.
Delusion
Circle-jerking
you...I like you
That shit was all based on a bunch of vague interviews with shitty translations. He was planning on a "The Mist" ending for a while, but he's never stated if he changed his mind or not, just that he was conflicted. In one of the more recent ones he says he's going forward with the ending he has been planning since the beginning of serialization. Whether this is "The Mist" or something else is a mystery.
explain their unconvincing criticism then
Those pictures in Eren’s dream in the anime were non-canon, the anime staff made that having no idea where Isayama was going with the story.
In the manga the vision was just of Mikasa saying “see you later Eren”, heck the first freaking chapter was called “To you, 2000 years in the Future”, don’t forget about that extra chapter in the early volumes with the girl who looks like Ymir meets the talking Titan that says this line “a subject of Ymir” and lays in a praying position.
>they can be edgelords
I don’t think you know what that word means, if you want to complain about Edgelords, look at Akame Ga Kill and etc.
It was well executed, no matter what you say.
Edgy is not good, AoT isn’t edgy, which is good.
>I also like that the amount of redpill based isa has been putting into the story increased over time
Please don’t inject Alt-Right into this, Isa isn’t a Alt-Rightist.
Bait post.
Isayama himself said that anime is final version of the story. They were making changes at his request
>boring now
Brainlet opinion.
Now it's literally hundreds of new theories every month vs before "muh didans".
>Isayama himself said that anime is final version of the story. They were making changes at his request
Proof?
>CHANGE BAD
It really wasn't though. The "survival story" was just one part of the bigger picture anyway.
Based and accurate
Cringe and circlejerk.
>"After writing Volume 12, in the period between 13 and 16 was when I felt the most disappointed with my work," Isayama said. "Hopefully, now that season 3 is being made, I'll have the chance to wipe away that regret and replace it with something I'm proud of." This portion of the manga deals with the revolution among the pack of survivors as it was revealed that the current royal family governing the humans are actually titan shifters.
christiantoday.com
Yeah I’m sure the butchered Uprising arc was the “final version of the story”.
Based
I’m skeptical about Isayama being okay with those changes, people seem to forget that he is under contract.
Mangaka aren’t allowed to criticize or bad mouth the studio or editors.
He wrote in his blog that he approved it but there are poeple saying that he didn't really have much of a choice because of a contract with the studio. And how he can't badmouth the studio or anything. This is common with many manga writers. The cuts, the rearranging and increased pacing and lack of breathing time makes everything less logical and more of a cluster fuck.
I'm also pretty skeptical of when I hear how author's "approve of something." Like you said, there are contracts and stipulations and can basically force author's to "approve". Finally, I sometimes get the feeling that some author's unnecessaryily change something, and just don't know when to stop "editing."
I think it's a major problem of manga and anime. The writer doesn't have full power over his own work and shares the power with the editors, the publishing company and anime studio. So I don't take these "I approve those changes and am 100% happy with them" statement from authors as fact.
No.
At the begining of the first episode we saw Eren's mom being eaten, Hannes death from last ep of 2 season and ending when everyone dead at Isayama request, then after anime became so popular he changed everything. That's just a fact.
Did you not read any of what I posted?

kinda wish it was just titans vs humans instead of titan shifters and all that
What changes did the anime have besides cutting out scenes?
I wish people didn't hate things just because they are popular
Is there any character that can defeat Eren Yeager? And I'm not talking about Shingeki no Kyojin Eren Yeager. Hell, I'm not even talking about Shingeki no Kyojin Eren Yeager after ingesting the Yoroi no Kyojin serum and having practiced his hardening abilities with Hange and the Survey Corps. I couldn't be talkig about Shigeki no Kyojin Eren Yaeger using Porco Galliard as a nutcraker to destroy the Sentsi no Kyojin crystal so he can consume Ms. Tybur and gain precise creation abilities. I'm NOT talking about Shingeki no Kyojin Eren Yeager commanding a group of loyal folowers who have dedicated their lives to fulfilling Eren's dream of finally seting his people free and ensuring the safety of generations to come. Do you think I'm talking about Shingeki no Kyojin Eren Yeager after going fully nuclear and telling Mikasa he's hated her his entire life and beating the shit out of Armin because they're both just slaves who refuse to accept fredom and try to get in the way of his true, eternal fredom? You better be joking if you think I'm talking about Shingeki no Kyojin Eren Yeager after being ambushed by the surviving members of the Senshitai, effectively fighting off both Reiner and Porco at the same time and even taking on Reiner, solo, after eating two direct headshots from an antititan sniper rifle. I'm definitely not talking about Shingeki no Kyojin Eren Yeager surviving after being decapitated by top Senshitai candidate, Gabi Braun, and still moving forward to enact his master keikaku. You better ban me if you think I'm talking about Shingeki no Kyojin Eren Yeager walking Zeke through Grisha's PATHS memories so he can see the error of his ways and come around to the belief that life is worth living. I'm talking about Shingeki no Kyojin Eren Yeager becoming the Devil himself, wiling to destroy the entire world, and manipulating the past, present, and future in order to protect his lover, Historia Reiss, so that his child can be born free into this world.
can't you figure it out yourself?
I personally can't exactly articulate why, but I don't nearly enjoy it as much as I used to, sometimes it even feels like a chore. Something just feels like it changed, whether it be the tone or general atmosphere.
The magic is gone, most of the characters lost all relevance to the story. if you are in the position of somewhat buying the massive shift in the plot, all you're doing is waiting for the next big twist to come each month. Cheap thrills, basically.
to be fair there wasn't much room for entertainment if Isayama kept going with "fighting giant man eating zombies", it's probably better that way, a lot of series stray away from the original goal after some time (in this case: killing all titans and reaching the ocean turned into "getting rid of the entire world because they want us dead" or "wipe off an entire race for the greater good")
Same.
Survival. The Marley subplot is shit.
The show got shit when the author brought Erin back from the dead and introduced the concept of titan-morphosis specifically to the main characters. It gave plot armor to certain characters and toned down titans from this ominous threat to the equivalent of a retarded child that had to be put down
Shoving in a bunch of random deaths in season 1 for offensively dark cheap shock value and exploitation, like that random preacher guy and the alleyway woman in episode 2, another scene in Ep2 with EMA in the shelter where Eren acts uncharacteristic and starts bullying Armin and Mikasa punches him and shoves bread into his mouth, etc.
Stop this circlejerk.
It’s your fault for not picking up all the build up and foreshadowing, this was planned from the start, ever hear of deconstruction and subversion?
>deconstruction and subversion
>"fighting giant man eating zombies"
I’m getting sick of hearing that bs comparison.
The Titans are supposed to be the Golems from the Hebrew legends.
See picture.
Bait.
>The show got shit when the author brought Erin back from the dead and introduced the concept of titan-morphosis specifically to the main characters.
Oh you mean something that was in the freaking prototype?
Oh great, another contrarian for the sake of being contrarian thread.
It started going downhill when it tried to be a political thriller, then somewhat improved, then tanked again until Bertolt's death. Then it went decent for a while, now it's going nowhere fast again.
I think most people who praise it for intricate storytelling or intriguing plots haven't really read a book in their lives. Then again, most fans of the series seem to be disgusting fujo who need to get off my Yea Forums
The only correct answer.
You know sometimes it's okay for someone to dislike aspects of something that's popular for other reasons than being contrarian. This shit has started to be used as a buzzword like everything else.
Definitely when it was had the survival plot. The only good thing about this series was its shock moments and novelty of being semi-inspired by HP Lovecraft's works.
So what happens when a male inherits the power of the female titan?
Was it? Because I never got that feeling at all.
I watched it during my teenage years and read the manga last year. The numerous deaths and horrendous looking titans made quite an impression on me.
>gets in to a secret relationship with and impregnates the queen
>belly flops on to a crowd of dignitaries from around the world
>dabs on Reiner again in his own hometown
>starts a civil war literally under his name
>manipulates his friends and cuck half-brother in order to literally genocide the world outside his island
>doesn't care if he dies, as long as his lover and child are free from the global Eldian ethnic conflict
Most of you faggots wish you were as based as Chadren YeaGAR
The first example is trash tho
Same wity the paradox explanation
Literally brainlet distillation of the concept
it was better when it wasn't jojo
Better now. Within the first chapter(s) you have clear implication of 'outside world', from armin, shifters (BRA) and the weird way the world is controlled, clear misinformation and withholding of information/technologies (3DMG/swords are weird anachronisms). Mankasa being Asian and 'from a clan before the walls'.
They early mystery clearly sets up there's a world beyond surviving titans. Where do they come from/why etc. Sure it got popular because it was an edgy survival gorefest, but it ended up giving us much more.
It's talk no jutsu now. Prefer the survival story.
it was okay to start but it's someone became a fucking 9/10 now
it's amazing
marley arc and the new freedom arc took it to a entire new level
eren vs reiner is where it started getting good
> introducing monkey
They could've make it far more than just humans and politics, but something like cosmic horror type thing. It still has the potential to be one though
>attack on titan
is this reddit?
then fuck off trash
tfw i dropped it right before monkey and called it garbage because the characters where garbage and it was slow and going nowhere and every character over reacts
tfw the manga fixes the over react part and everythng else is fixed right after monkey
didn't go back to it for like 4 years and well i took back everything i said
that could be cool but i like the humans and politics
it's kinda both since the whole earth devil and paths thing
i know monkey vs mike was fucking terrifying
poor bastard
basado
???
JoJo fans are retarded
new aot reminds me of Urasawa, Naoki like Monster
