I see. I watched until episode 61 so far, which presents Sora's backstory. It's not that Ichigo is entirely missing from the picture, but it's clear that most of the episodes so far have been building the new cast. I'm also not convinced that the show needs more characters when members of the old cast could use more development (Yurika and Kaede for example). Oh well, hopefully it all comes together.

It's a crime that S2 didn't start with Ichigo's wacky adventures in the States, which should have lasted for several episodes.

Tbh, Aifure did had some potential beyond gay friendship, but they pushed that aspect too hard to the point where it literally had nothing else going for it.

My take on this is that Ogkatsu is still the most viable starting point for any viewer; of course it's up to the viewer him/herself to decide, however it's imperative to remember that both Stars and Friends are merely derivatives from the original Aikatsu formula that is Ogkatsu itself, that is, they take aspects of the original series and convert them into their own spin. So in that sense, Ogkatsu would be more viable if one were to start things off.

Friends is completely standalone from Stars and the original though. You need zero knowledge from those seasons to get into it, meanwhile Stars has 2 random crossovers filled with spoilers.

Throughout S1 Prichan doesn't have any interesting dialogues or any interesting development that could be shown save maybe "I want to quit lol" and "She didn't quit, execute order 66", every other episode in between is the "We don't have an answer to why we're aiming to be top idols" and "The ticket was in her hat lol" type of filler with no arc structure whatsoever.
S2 has improved and every possible way I could tell you to skip S1 entirely but no one is subbing it even though we had TWO different subs during the first couple of episodes.
