The problem is that humans can't kill dragons, cause a weapon able to do that would be so thicc and heavy a human would not even be able to lift it.
King got all angry and kicked him out of his land or forced him to escape.

Some pompous noble requested "a sword that could slay a dragon" expecting some shiny blade with a fancy guard filled with gold and jewels. Godo was tired of making shit like that and made a ridiculous behemoth he didn't expect any mortal man would actually be able to wield as a big middle finger to the guy.

The other reason was pandering to swordsmen with tiny dicks.

it's explained somewhere in the witch's forest. all the apparitions are beings of lower levels of the onion that is their reality. Apostle's are the highest (er, lowest) level of that, and are entities from the furthest depths.

When it started out, it WAS just a normal sword, just made really thicc, but the first thing it was used on was an apostle. now, it was the weakest apostle, of the variety that didn't even get invited to the feast, but he was STILL an apostle, and thus it started out bathed in the blood of a deeper eldritch being.

That gave it enough of a sort of. . .extraplanar varnish to sever through the ties that held lesser apparitions (ghosts and shit) to this realm, but it kept picking up more and more of this extraplanar residue on it's blade.

So, by the end of it the blade itself is cleaving things in two on all layers of reality, even down to the level the godhand reside at just from the sheer volume of extraplanar essence it's been suffused with.
