His introduction was one of the funniest chapters of the whole manga. I'd argue Ishigami was at his best until the sports festival, a paranoid, cowardly wreck with terrible luck and skewed social awareness. It was then where Aka stopped giving him real flaws that his character started to get tiresome.

His backstory was okay when it was only implied in the early chapters. It was when the whole shit turned out to be muh innocent whiteknighting that it lost a lot of impact.

Having said that, I still enjoy his fuck ups when dealing with Kaguya and Miko. It's when he tries to act like a gentleman that his value plummets. A good reminder of how good his character was is in the LN, watching him freak out together with Shirogane regarding the curse.

Come to think of it, the Momokan character played by the in-universe Sho Hirano kinda looks like Ishigami. In my headcanon, though, that Shirogane-Miko exchange was IRL Hirano (as Miko) telling the Shueisha rep (as Shirogane) to go fuck himself after suggesting the idea of playing Ishigami instead of Shirogane.

His design, personality and backstory scream generic LN MC, that's as self inserty as it gets.

His development took away parts of him that weren't bad per se. Falling for Tsubame dumbed him down, took away skills that he should have had and didn't really add anything to his character.
Whenever he is with Tsubame he acts less like himself and more like your average boring harem MC, the one who unknowingly makes all the girls wet with his niceness and has life set on easy mode. Mind you, Shirogane advancing his relationship with Kaguya hasn't stopped him from being the same overthinking autistic dumbass.
Kaguya is a romcom. People falling in love and developing shouldn't stop them from being stupid and funny from time to time, but Ishigami is becoming more and more dull whenever the story focuses on his love life.

You're missing the point. He didn't lose any of those traits, he's actively hiding them to impress Tsubame. The Christmas party in particular made it very clear that he's putting on an act, and since the main message of the Ice arc was that that's a bad idea, I expect that to backfire on him at some point.
The only other apparent bad change was him being imperceptive during the Culture Festival, but that was explicitly explained as being caused by his ignorance about rumors. The idea that the cookie would be taken as a direct confession would be insane if you don't know about that superstition, so it's only natural to dismiss it.

He's clearly forcing himself to act that way with her and he also got so far because of luck and because he has been pushed a lot and it's clear he would have already self-destructed without Kaguya. I wouldn't go that far, the reason that Kaguya needed to put it out in the open was that she had an extreme desire to be accepted for who she was back then, Prez had actual physical and mental health issues cause he was unable to accept his weaker side.
