There are a lot of fights. Like at least 40 throughout the entire series.
Most of them usually have 10-20 chapters of downtime and 10-20 more of build up

Ricardo was never knocked down, even at spars. That's the big deal about it. The punch was even offscreened, and most of the spar was Sendo getting his ass kicked. Still amazing.

Yeah. Death flags out the ass. Gonzalez is going to end Sendo's career just so we can see Ippo come out of retirement and get revenge. This also sets up Morikawa bringing back Randy Boy Junior, to take Miyata's soon-to-be vacated OPBF title, challenge Ippo and lose to leap-frog a returning Ippo up the rankings. Miyata will fuck off and become a world champion of the 'ducking Ricardo like a little bitch' division while Ippo challenges Gonzalez for Ricardo's vacated belt, after Gonzalez beats Sendo nearly to death, in a death match in beanerland that ends in disqualification, when Alf beats an unconscious Sendo after the latter makes him eat Smashes for 7 rounds straight, with two closed eyes, broken ribs and a broken leg.
