Nana's Childhood
Kondou Nana, also known as "Mizuki Nana," was born on January 21, 1980.
She wasn't born in the city, she was born in a not so popular place, in Nihama, Ehime prefecture. She wasn't in a rich family either, the Kondou family was just a very normal middle-class family.
Since she was 5, she was trained by her father to sing Enka songs. His training was really strict. Nana's father made her to sing in a dental clinic, in which she needs to sing louder than the noises, in the right pitch, or else she'll get punished. Enka songs were very hard to sing, so child Nana had difficulty doing this.
Nana's childhood wasn't filled with adventurous stories like shounen stories. She didn't have too much friends of her age because of her father's training. After school, she needs to run home immediately because if she's late she's going to get punished again. That is why Nana is mostly fond of old people, because she's always with them. Therefore, her childhood was just filled with hellish training, and traveling all over Japan to join singing contests.

Nana went to Tokyo to go to a prestigious highschool. The name of the school is "Horikoshi High School," a school where they have a special course for people who want to be part of the entertainment industry. Nana enrolled in that program to fulfill her dream, and her family's dream: to be a famous Enka singer.
Of course, it was hard for Nana to leave her family in Ehime. She said she is the eldest daughter of the family (Nana has one little sister), therefore she needs to be strong. She didn't shed a tear when leaving the house, but she cried when she got on the bus headed to Tokyo.
In Horikoshi, a lot of the students in the Entertainment course were allowed to have jobs while going to school. They're basically filled with celebrities, soon-to-be celebrities, and wannabe celebrities. If you don't have a job while attending this program, you should really worry about your future.
Unfortunately Nana was one of the few individuals who still didn't have a job in her class. Nana, being strictly prohibited by her father to indulge herself in anything other than Enka, didn't really know the current trends at the time, so she was alienated too. She was often bullied, and called a "wannabe."

Though her high school life wasn't that fun, it wasn't filled with shit. Nana also had fun moments in her high school. She met her best friend, Katayama Sayuri, who is now known as SAYURI, a composer and lyricist. SAYURI has composed several songs for Nana (e.g. Mr Bunny!, Love Brick) and they're still good friends even to this day. Nana makes sure that whenever something good happens to her, SAYRUI is one of the special individuals to know before everyone else.

Nana managed to get a job in an audition in a game called "NOeL La neige." This was the start of Nana's career.
Nana wanted to use her real name, but since there's already a person named "Kondou Nana" in the industry, she just wnet with "Mizuki Nana."
She originally wanted to be an Enka singer, but Nana was also fascinated with games and anime when she was little, so she also wanted to be a Seiyuu, but at the same time, also a singer.
Back then, people didn't really accept Seiyuu-artists because doing both will just end up with failure/lack of balance in work, so many people were against her, because they say "the one who catches two hares will catch neither." But Nana didn't mind, and still continued. She said if no one will do it then she'll be an example. Nana was quite offended because she loves both jobs equally.

People might think that Nana was affiliated with King Records from the start, but the truth is her first producer wasn't from King Records, but her teacher who molested her in high school. Yes, that disgusting guy was Nana's first producer.
Her teacher handled all of Nana's jobs and other stuff, including her money. Nana's money problems were supposed to be solved now that she had a job, but it didn't because her producer hogged most of her earnings. Nana didn't know how much she earned exactly, but she just let her teacher handle the money because she's somewhat grateful because he gave her a place to live.
And because Nana was poor, she had no money to buy clothes, so she just wore the same clothes and alternated it. Some of the fans even sent letters to her, complaining because she wore the same clothes. That's when Nana started to be conscious of her clothing.
The atrocious doings of her first manager didn't stop with just hogging money. The molestation didn't stop, to the point that Nana became so disturbed that she took bike rides all over town just to avoid him. She even ate a lot to become fat, hoping he'd be turned off, but it didn't work. That's why Nana was quite chubby in the start of her career.

But then a white knight saved Nana. A producer from King Records saw Nana's talent, and started to scout her. But Nana thought that she didn't really need another producer because she already had one, so he refused him. But this guy didn't give up, because he really thought Nana had the potential and talent. He kept on pursuing her, and eventually Nana gave in and told him her problem regarding her current producer.
This really angered him, and he told Nana to leave from her producer's apartment immediately, but Nana was scared of what would happen if she did that so, so Mr. Producer made a plan for her to finally leave that shithole.

Nana agreed to the plan he proposed, and they executed it immediately. The plan is: Nana will talk to her producer, and while they're talking the staff of King Records will move her stuff to their office. Of course, since this is a molester we're talking about, he might just attack Nana out of nowhere, so KR Producer hid in a cafe near them to guard Nana and ensure nothing bad happens.
The plan was successful, and Nana lived temporarily inside the office of King Records. She received threatening calls, but because the staff of KR was there to look after her, nothing happened, and after a while, it never happened again. And then, Nana joined King Records.
The name of "KR Producer" is Mishima Akio, who is now Nana's producer and has always supported her behind the shadows, and also stands as Nana's father-figure. Mishi-P is a very nice guy who treasures talent and hard work, but is also a ditz that sometimes forgets his briefcase and loses his wallet. Nana treats him like family and a friend. Currently he has been supporting Nana for 15 years. In the end, they found out Nana has Stockholm Syndrome. Nana says she forgives her teacher, but the molestation is one thing she can't forgive.

After Nana officially joined King Records, she started her career as a Seiyuu-Artist. Of course, she wasn't that popular at first. Almost no one knew her. Her first single was entitled "Omoi," which was released on 12/06/2000.
And then, when Nana came out and was asked to sing the opening song, "Innocent Starter," she started to catch the attention of people. (Another thing to mention is that Nana herself wrote the lyrics to Innocent Starter.)
When Nanoha A's came, her song ETERNAL BLAZE became a hit with many people. After that she started to have more roles, more singles, and more fame. But even though she started to get more popular, Nana never forgot her family and friends, and to be humble and kind to fans.

Nana's family, as mentioned earlier, wasn't that much special. Nana doesn't talk often about her parents, but she talks about them occasionally when something notable happens.
Nana's father is named Kondou Nobumitsu. Nana-papa is a guy that is quite self-centered. He doesn't really show kindness much, but he loved his family. Aside from being the perpetrator of Nana's Enka training, he also did useless things like buy a boat when they aren't even a family of fishermen, and stayed late despite Nana-mama's warnings.
But despite that, Nana-papa isn't that much of a bad person. Nana said sometimes, when they go together to the grocery he secretly buys Nana sweets, even though it is forbidden. (Nana-mama actually knew, but she never scolded them.)
Occasionally, he takes Nana to restaurants. Nana said in her radio show before about a certain Yakiniku place where her father takes her. She said it was really delicious there, but unfortunately now it's now closed.

Next is Nana's mother. She is often called "O-Mama" by Nana and almost everyone else, but her real name is Kondou MIchiko. O-Mama is a very kind housewife who was really the opposite of Nana's father. She's quite energetic too, because despite her age, Nana said that she did a duet with her before. She also said O-Mama looks very young despite her age. (Now you know why Nana still looks young.)
Michiko is a former Enka teacher, which is probably the reason why Nana's father fell in love with her. Nana said they don't say, "I love you," that often, but they express their love in different ways. She said they don't say much, but they love each other.
And lastly, Nana's imouto, Kondou Mika. MIka is also in the singing industry. She is part of the group "Daisy X Daisy."
Nana rarely talks about her imouto, so only few individuals really know how Nana is like to her little sister.
Nana described her in her autobiography as a quite stubborn kid. She has the guts to talk back to their father and speaks out her honest opinion, an attribute Nana is a little jealous about.

Aside from being an Enka singer, Nana's family also had another big dream for her. In Japan, there's a year-end party that is broadcasted in NHK, a party where all the top artists in the country gather and sing on one stage. The name of the most anticipated New Year's Eve party is "NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen." Back then, the Kondou family just watched that show, enjoying the fun performances and looking forward to which of the two teams would win. Nana said one time, her mother told her "it would be nice if you performed in that stage too." Nana's father also dreamed of that.
In the year 2009, Nana finally made it onto that dream stage. Nana was chosen to participate in the 60th Kouhaku Uta Gassen.
It was a really really happy event, but the Kondou family wasn't that happy.
In 2008, Nana's father passed away. He didn't live long enough to see Nana singing on the stage of Uta Gassen. The death of her father really shook Nana. She was in the middle of work that time when she received a call from her mom in Ehime, telling her that her father's condition had worsened. That time, she was assigned to write and sing the opening of White Album. But then her father was more important, so she rushed back to Ehime. But she was too late; when she arrived, her father was already gone.
Nana dedicates the song "Shin Ai" to her father.

Seven years have passed, and since then Nana has continued to sing. She has earned countless awards, and she is now known as the Queen of Anisong. Despite all the hardships she went through, she makes sure to never forget what she has learned, and kept moving on even without her greatest mentor. Her story isn't finished yet. She has yet to fulfill her father's ultimate dream, so the story of the woman named Nana doesn't end here.

Ok, real talk here. The series always had good "foes becomes friend" moments, but I don't think any comes close to this scene. You've got these three girls who all struggled to find a place or a meaning. Tsubasa with Kanade's death, Hibiki with the bullying and dealing with Miku/Gungnir, Chris with... everything. They start teaming up first by convenience, then hold hands with Hibiki and beat Fine, which is nice, but this is where they actually get close. They're singing for the last time in their lives (as far as they know), but they're not sad or anxious, just grateful to the others for helping them find the meaning they were looking for. Their only regret is not being able to sing more with the others for the rest of their lives. And so they btfo the moon and fall to the Earth while holding hands and smiling at each other.
It's really heartwarming. FIS girls are great and made Symphogear like a big party, but OG3 somehow went from absolute strangers to "would take a bullet for you" very quickly yet also very convincingly. I'm quite satisfied this moment was shown in OP2.

I think 11 will focus on NR before finally getting to Shem-Ha in the last two episodes. I could see Chris using her Amalgam to defeat Vanessa while letting Hibiki go on ahead to find Miku, and Maria using hers to defeat Millaarc before Tsubasa has a chance to get to her, since Maria probably wouldn't want Tsubasa to kill anybody because it would make her feel like shit afterwards. I hope 13 will dedicate at least half the episode to wrap up the characters, possibly even doing a time skip to show were they all end up in the future.

NR isn't even the problem time wise. Cut all the unneeded flashbacks and retreading of old topics and re-arrange a few scenes and dialogue and you got time for the funeral scene while also probably giving better characterization to everyone including NR.
