Well, no point in discussing with retards.
Remember when CLAMP was good?
>What are the recent good Shojo stuff?
Star Twinkle Precure
We are living in Isekai land
This will get a reboot soon
I'm surprised it hasn't already. Also surprised Genbu Kaiden hasn't gotten an anime.
Shoujo has always been trash for the most part.
Does act age count as shoujo?
Watched as a kid and liked it. Watched as an adult and only the jokes were good. And the manga is even worse.
It's published in jump. It's not in the slightest shoujo, either literally or in typical content.
have Skip Beat or Perfect Girl Evolution ended yet?
Shojo is dying because girls are moving to Korean dramas.
Is CCS considered shojo? I always thought it was more mahou shojo series.
>We are living in Isekai land
Isekai is a fad it will die.
I watched Rose of Versailles
Kakyoin and Jotaro's kid Jouta Kujo
This, girls who like straight romance watch live action shit. Only degenerate fujos care about anime
It's shoujo.
Hambeasts watch yaoi, regular women stick to Korean dramas or Netflix
Shoujo is dead. Saint Seiya, Hana Yori Dango and Itazura na Kiss killed it.
Saint Seiya shifted WSJ readership to females and influenced titles like YYH for making bishie teams and yaoi overtones. At the turn of millenium, shounen practically ate the shoujo demographic.
Hana Yori Dango and Itazura na Kiss were hugely successful but that mean everybody wanted to be the next HYD or Itazura na Kiss, especially with the economical recession, and shoujo became more derivative and controlling. Female mangakas had to migrate to shounen/seinen to write something else besides a dreamy rapist and a cute schoolgirl
That doesn't change the fact of our current situation.
Shoujo is still thriving, probably gonna have a resurgence soon. In anime it's alive and well in precure, a lot of people say it's their best season ever. LN and manga are pretty much inundated by otome isekai and the billion varieties of it. It's already started to leak into anime and will probably infest the 1-2 cour comedy spots for a while.
There's this. As long as you don't dislike kaiju for some odd reason
Your current situation is a quick. Isekai is just a fad but a short one. Mangaka and LN's are trying to find something very creative. Isekai is holding back creativity.
Where did this Korean drama shit coming from anyway, Are Yea Forumstards that stupid?
What is this?
>little girls looking for romantic series go to Yea Forums
I have some friends who watch Korean dramas for the romance. They've seen some anime series too but it's the usual Naruto/Code Geass/Death Note etc, not shoujo.
I don't know about other places, but at leat in my country korean dramas have become popular with normies, they even started dubbing them and airing them on tv
TOMAAARANAAAIIIIII
Yuri will save Shojo
Yuri is the future
What? Stuff like Kimi ni Todoke was popular. For stuff that's still ongoing,tl there's Natsume Yuujinchou and Akatsuki ni Yona off top my head.
This.
Such a good song.
Fruits Basket is literally airing this season.
>Fruits Basket is literally airing this season.
Though I feel that was made for Western audiences in mind
The anime is recent, but it's based on like a twenty year old manga. Plus it's pretty mediocre.
Maybe partially, but it was also a bestseller in Japan.
We need to hype Chihayafuru dammit!
That's josei.
The manga's been around for ages though, its just getting a brotherhood treatment.
>they never continued Akatsuki no Yona anime
That's seinen isn't it?
I mean, Cardcaptor Sakura has far less sexual undertones than Prisma Illya.
I suppose lolis become thots without strong male figures in their lives, like real life
Begone
No. Yuri will save Shojo genre one way or another
So what shoujo manga are you reading? I like Sekai de Ichiban Warui Majo but that's already complete in japan and we're just waiting for scans.
I'm waiting for yona to finish before reading the rest, does it seem like it will end soon?
Sailor Moon is still not dead, Sakura is almost forgotten, and there is no plan to organize any activities.
I like how you posted that instead of Crystal.
Toei treats the Sailor Moon fairly well, although the new animation is made into a shit, but the stage plays and concerts are held every year.
>Precure
>Implying Yea Forums actually realizes Precure is legit good and not just for pre-schoolers and desperate otaku
You've seen the mascot threads surely
The problem with shoujo is that it doesn’t make money anymore. Live action dramas are cheaper to make and the shoujo genre is too niche for the mainstream to really care about. Studios are even reluctant to do adaptations of popular vintage shoujo manga because the shoujo art style is too detailed for most studios to want to bother with it.
Just be glad /pc/ is free from the shitposters that other series get
Hope it rises again
>Toei treats the Sailor Moon fairly well, although the new animation is made into a shit
I don't know why they couldn't do a remake Sailor Moon with updated stuff. You know, added episodes beyond the manga so it can further the characters not named Sailor Moon. Are they afraid that will compete with Precure?
>Are they afraid that will compete with Precure?
This is almost certainly the reason. They know that if they took it seriously again it would overtake Precure due to how iconic it is, and they don't want to derail their current cashcow and the ease with which they can actually treat it like a toku show with different characters each season.
Hope so
This shoujo series sold like crazy for a noitaminA show.
This makes me sad.
>girls who like straight romance watch live action shit.
girls are starting to love lesbian stuff too ya know.
Go away /u/ subhuman.
I read Our Precious Conversions and still follow Nozaki-kun
>>Implying Yea Forums actually realizes Precure is legit good and not just for pre-schoolers and desperate otaku
It isn't? I watched the new Twinkle Star season, it's over the top girly toy commercial
>The problem with shoujo is that it doesn’t make money anymore
Did it ever made much money in the first place? Sadly, I noticed there aren't any action figures/fashion dolls based on Shoujo anime besides the Mahou Shoujo sub-genre which mostly appeals to little girls and degenerate otakus.
>shitty recommendation thread
>OP is a retarded redditor
checks out
>Go away /u/ subhuman.
Are you new or retarded?
>samefag s/u/bhuman
That only cuz Fujos are so starved for pretty boys especially gay ones.
Go back to your Watamote thread you fucking leech.
i'm retarded.
Mahou shoujo is my favorite genre and it's dead.
Samefag
Atsumori-Kun is pretty good, cute and wholesome so far
I remember starting reading this...
San Kirioka' manga feel like shoujo though technically, most of them are shounen.
DESU, as of lately I read more shounen romance manga rather than shoujo.
>starved for pretty boys
Literally the shoujo audience. Do you mentally process what you're typing?
>Sakura is almost forgotten
It has an ongoing sequel doing well in Japan. The reason why there's almost no discussion in the west is because a Facebook/discord group are holding translations hostage.
>a lot of people say it's their best season ever.
I have never seen a single person say star twinkle is the best season. Most people say it's below average.
They said the same thing about the last season too.
I think Precure fans just have low standards,
Heartcatch is still genuinely better than Madoka.
Was Madoka the last good one?
The secret's always to look for action oriented stuff: shojo manga I'm currently buying is Akatsuki no Yona, CCS Clear Card and Children of the Whales.
The manga is from 30 years ago and the publication was always pushing the boundaries for shoujo anyway. Still applies though.
>did it ever make much money in the first place?
Depends. Many shoujo manga have been incredibly financially successful, but we’re talking about anime here, so those don’t count. I think you have a point, since no non-mahou shoujo has ever made Gundam levels of money. Some well remembered shoujo were even commercial failures when they first aired. I recently learned for example that the RoV anime absolutely bombed when it first aired and it didn’t get recognition until years later. Despite that though, shoujo anime still somehow got made despite only turning a moderate profit at best.
>Chihayafuru
I've tried to watch it but damn that game that they are playing is boring as fuck. I wish it was something more interesting like shogi or something.
Yuna looks cool
karuta is NOT boring idiot
clearly u have no taste
>Children of the Whales.
Woah I had no idea that got an anime
March comes in like a lion.
OP is a faggot but so are you user, you can't compare gold like CCS to shit like prisma illya, prisma illya is aimed for degenerates evidenced on how it lewds every single character it's fucking disgusting pedoshit.
CCS is more wholesome comfy and doki-doki. Not a single instance of lewding the characters.
>good
>shoujo
Try reading the OP before posting.
Not him but it is really good. Although it is a seinen and not a shoujo
prism illya: cute girls doing cute things
CCS: elementary school girls in relationships with their teachers
>>Sakura is almost forgotten
>It has an ongoing sequel doing well in Japan. The reason why there's almost no discussion in the west is because a Facebook/discord group are holding translations hostage.
I thought Kodansha USA has been simulpublshing it. No one made rips?
all the current shoujo worth a shit got adapted to live-action movies instead of anime
so literally not Yea Forums
illya = disgusting pieces of meat doing shit constantly
CCS = wholesome show exploring what romances, friendships and illusions are.
Explain why it is not boring. There is next to nothing strategical about it. It does not allow players to have different playstyles and the one who has better memory and speed wins.
What are you talking about specificially? I can't think of any recent good shoujo with live-action adaptions.
>so literally not Yea Forums
You kind of forget that Yea Forums is not only about the anime
There's rips up to volume 4 and kodansha has released up to volume 5
Akatsuki no Yona is the most recent anime based on a shoujo manga that I've seen.
There's also Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, but it's Josei, not sure if that counts.
How are they holding it "hostage"? Do the facebookfags also read it with watermarks?
It seems that the demographic boundaries don't matter anymore.
The Ancinet Magus' Bride is serialized in a shounen magazine, but it is totally in the style of a Shoujo manga.
>but it is totally in the style of a Shoujo manga
no it's not, you clearly don't read much shoujo manga
I like how prisma illya triggers you roasties. No matter how much you hate it, men will always be attracted to younger girls.
>men
Subhumans. Prillya threads are full of them
I've never actually watched it but I can't see how that is, prisma illya looks a million times better than the main franchise.
Basically they tell their followers to go and find sites that do/host Clear Card scanlations and harass them into taking them down. All in the name of "supporting the official release". Taking of the watermarks is an incentive for them.
>You have to belong to the cult the gain acess to the watermark-less version
Scanlation turf shit is the dumbest stuff on the face of the earth
Can't the sites just say "no"? If it's not the actual rightsholder the sites are well within their rights to just say "fuck off" and I doubt the big manga sharing sites even care.
Still reading Yona, still reading Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii, need to read the recent Furuba spinoffs, slowly making my way through Niehime.
Live action adaptations of manga are allowed on Yea Forums tho.
I haven't read akagami no shirayukihime in a while but it seems like something you'd like
Clear card is pretty bad
No it isn't.
You both need to elaborate on that.
>Is Shojo dying?
No. Yuri and Otome BL is keeping Shojo strong as ever.
fuck off faggot
>114 post rec thread
So you have no argument.
Yuri is mostly published on shounen/seinen magazines now. BL is a strong niche but still a niche
Implying Precure is currently doing well, especially in terms of writing.
Shoujo/maho shoujo went for the otaku bux and is shit now. Damn shame. At least we'll always have CCS and Tutu.
Dunno about recent mahou shoujo anime, but if you're looking for regular old romance stuff, Domestic Girlfriend was pretty nice, as is Maidens of the Savage Season.
is the current season bad / unpopular?
>BL is a strong niche but still a niche
No it isn't, Yuri is much more niche than BL
Did they tell Mangarock that yet? Because I just found Clear Card uploaded there up to volume 6, no watermarks.
shojo will be saved when witch hat atelier gets animated
isn't mangarock dying soon?
How will a subpar seinen manga getting an anime adaption save shoujo?
>Implying Precure is currently doing well, especially in terms of writing.
Where did you hear Star Twinkle is doing bad?
Yuri is a niche inside another niche (BL)
I wish there were more shoujo mecha
It's just the app as far as I know
No great new magical girl
Meanwhile we get good battle shounen constantly
what has happened in clear card anyways?
Did you guys like kamisama hajimemashita?
Too much cliche imo
I think Kochou no Yumeji (which similarly themed webtoon) is far better. I really like it's slow and relaxed pace.
>What are the recent good Shojo stuff?
Seconding this
Magus Bride was good. As HP proved, you can't go wrong with the 'idealized Britain + slice of life + magic" recipe.
It's actually shounen...
Maybe shoujo is dying, because (good) romance manga are published in shounen magazines like Showa Maiden Fairytale?
Shoujo and shounen romances are both shit. Josei romance is where it's at.
I thought it was pretty boring. Mainly because of Chise.
>Josei romance is where it's at
Oh yes, the passive office lady and the jerk boss, so much better.
Shoujo and Shounen have bigger cast of characters and as much as high school setting is done to death, it still way better than shitty office job.
Since most of them are in realistic setting they just make more live action movies and tv series adaptations instead anime.
In fact, there is no such thing. If you check the search volume of Twitter and GOOGLE and Yahoo, you will find that CCS has very low attention and few people are concerned about CCS.
>they just make more live action movies and tv series adaptations instead anime
So shoujo now is just a J drama, disgusting.
Yuri is more popular than BL
>Meanwhile we get good battle shounen constantly
We're seeing more Yuri in shonen now often than ever.
>I wish there were more shoujo mecha
If you been watching Granbelm
Magus Bride was quite bad. OVA was pretty good, but the TV series was completely mediocre.
They should remake this and adapt everything from the book
Back to the Watamote thread already s/u/bhuman
>Yuri is more popular than BL
Same reason mahou shoujo is more popular, you fucking degenerate.
Thanks for the recommendation! I'm gonna check it out.
>Back to the Watamote thread already s/u/bhuman
What did yuri done to you.
>Is Shojo dying?
i hope so
Can you s/u/bhumans stop leeching and go back to your containment board?
t. battleshonenshitter
>Yuri is more popular than BL
Protip: Seasonal cute girls doing cute shit isn't yuri
yuri is love yuri is life
...
And kids dating their teachers
>Can you s/u/bhumans stop leeching and go back to your containment board?
Filtered.
...
>Protip: Seasonal cute girls doing cute shit isn't yuri
Well it is now.
Can you fuck off already you spamming samefag? This thread is about shoujo, not yuri shit you faggot.
suck my balls, retard
Sort t of speaking of
I am reading Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoushi and Sensei no yasashi koroshi kata. The latter is more cliche and edgy, but I like it.
There was a cute manga called Anitomo about a girl dating her brother's friend. It's too pure and pretty wholesome. There is the usual annoying rival too but you can skip his chapters.
Sadly it got a jdrama adaptation. I don't understand why girls love that shit, most japanese actors are awkward or so over the top they become embarrassing to watch.
There fushiginokuni arisugawara san where the main characters meet and start dating. Both are too pure, it's a great read.
There's also Yuugure Light, it's about a girl who's dad remarries and moves in with her new mother and sister. It's cute and the main girl is awesome. It becomes meh after the inevitable love triangle though, but thankfully it doesn't take half of the manga.
Kakuriyo no something is an anime adaptation of a LN about a girl isekaied to the world of youkai. She then opens her restaurant there. It's cliché but comfy and the characters songs are great.
Now if you want a trainwreck go for Nanoka no Kare, I don't know what was the author smoking. Apparently her new manga is way better.
It's just not as popular as shonen. There's still plenty of shoujo magazines with series running in them. I've found some more recent ones and the volume cover styles for some of them are even pretty much the same as in the 90s and 80s. It's pretty weird.
>I don't understand why girls love that shit
Girls love 3DPD
>Anitomo
I think I started to read that, it's cute
I'll look up your other mentions, thanks user!
>It's pretty weird
I found out Sana Kirioka published her first works in Shoujo magazines, but than moved to shounen yet her both here drawing and writing style stayed the same besides addition of using fan service sometimes.
anons don't pay attention to something so it must mean that it's dying
Yes, please. They cut some stuff from the novel which is a shame.
Also Taiki resolution never ever.
Season 3 when?
Getting this out of the way, I'm not a great talker so I'll reply in the form of greentexts.
>Kept switching writers
>We barely see the imagination motif
>With a few exceptions, there's hardly any interactions with the Earth characters
>Hikaru not growing as a proper Cure leader, especially shown in EP29, 30, and 31.
>Name any Elena episode (that isn't 28).
>Giving Lala a bit TOO much love.
>I feel like the problem with Madoka's character arc, especially with her father being involved, started with the movie director guy
>While it's understandable that Yuni's committing crimes for the sake of her planet, what she did was still wrong, but the show wants to write it off as her doing good despite what the villains say. In short, Protagonist-Centered Morality.
It's one thing if you're making a show for kids, it's another if you're taking their intelligence into consideration. If you don't write the story in a way that helps kids grow up with the characters, you're just outright spoiling them.
Oh and
>The villains hardly show how much of a threat they are.
See
It's bad enough the mexinigger got in as a diversity hire, wouldn't it be even worse if she had equal screentime as the other characters?
And what's the problem with madoka's character arc?
>He can knit a whole sweater in one night
Like I said, I'm not great talker so there are others that'd say it better than I. Madoka's development is fine, what I have problem with is her dad's involvement. I feel like more could've been done with it due to him being close to discovering alien life. And correct me if I'm wrong but he doesn't find it the least suspicious that his daughter is for some reason staring in a film?
It is a dying genre sadly
>I feel like more could've been done with it due to him being close to discovering alien life
I'm a couple episodes behind so feel free to call me a retard if they did something to close that off, but doesnt it seem likely they'll do more later in the show
We need a new mahou Shojo
>At the turn of millenium, shounen practically ate the shoujo demographic.
And Kirara-kei ate it from the other end.
