The reason for them was pretty flimsy seeing as they pretty much say that both the queen and princess are still alive somewhere so they should be able to control the sickness at will with their powers so having just low tier power girls make a idol group seems a bit weak that and the whole LADY M that everyone one knew who was and the UNspacey bad stuff was meh

Low pitch voices are low-tier trash and brutish, that is until hearing Junna's "tanoshii-wa". It's like hearing the most effeminate embodiment of female femininity ever conceived. My ears have not felt so elevated listening to anything until now.

I like how the first episode takes place on a muslim planet with suicide bombers and cute, scantily dressed girls have to sing songs to save everyone.

I also like how Freyja’s hood has a hole for her ahoge.

What a coincidence I just watched the movie the other day. Anybody else wish the whole Walkure as military op units was a part of the show from like the beginning and then they transition over time into the idols we recognize? I think that would have been cool

I ended up only liking Freyja (and Kaname kind of) but that's not good for Macross because generally people like the series for the larger cast and the jet fights. Also, there literally was not enough Walkure in it which sounds weird but I'm serious. I feel lilke I didn't really get to know them and they didn't do half the cool shit they were doing in the first episodes

Not that guy, but it wasn't that great. It retold the story but mostly shifted the attention to the Walkure, but at the cost of neutering the development of HayatexFreyja you wouuld get in the show.
They switched some of the scenes around time wise, like Freyja's birthday was before Messer's death and GIRI GIRI AI song was after when Freyja joins.
They made some adjustments to the character stories like Hayate was already a pilot before meeting Freyja and having Messer dodging that fatal shot and beating Keith in their duel, but he still dies in Kaname's arms from Var overdose(It's the only good scene in the movie).
Though worst of all is that they literally transplanted scenes from the show into the movie and then just edited some of the background, then called it "new".

Seriously they really missed big time with messer's dogfight, it felt so unclimactic that it made it comical. Just all of a sudden *pew* *splat* like someone threw a ketchup bottle in his cockpit for fun.

Frontier movie 1 technically did that too but it was waaaay better integrated. I hope the second Delta movie is much better about this.

The series most definitely started falling apart in episode 13. What should be a huge turning point of the series, where they are forced to abandon Ragna and drift through space while Windermere goes on a galaxy-wide mind rape spree.
Instead we get tons of episodes where nothing but slice-of-life happens. Then they suddenly shove a ton of plot into the last 3 episodes, including one where its nothing but the space muslim just doing an infodump with a bunch of nudge nudge wink winks about about the entire Macross series being about singing. And the worst thing about the final battle is that the fucking good guys don't even fucking win, instead Windermere betrays Windermere and then the series ends without Hayate even getting a final duel against Keith.

Don't forget how Roid's master plan was pretty much instrumentality, the most cliche evil plan since Saturday morning cartoons' taking over the world.
