Because he isn't an angsty fuck. A large majority of loner MC's are the usual "fuck normalfags" types who are underachieving losers that have no goals and always looks so dead inside

This may just be me, but he's really not. Confident and nearly self reliant sure, but he comes off more as a stubborn mule. He has tons of great opportunities to choose from and pursues them, then kind of drops them whenever he feels like it. And some of the time his antics actually get him in trouble and almost cost him his not girlfriend in the end. There are certainly some admirable qualities in him but I don't think he's all that great.
And the bit about other loner types is true to some extent, but even if he's not secretly sad inside he still hits all the beats of loner MCs, which just isn't my taste.

What, are you so spineless that you feel the need to avoid trouble despite what you want? Are you afraid of the sunk cost fallacy so much that you can't drop something you've stopped enjoying? It's been shown time and time again that Yugami is talented and hardworking. Even if he lets go of dozens of great opportunities, he knows for a fact he can always make his own doors to enter. Besides, it's not like he's so stubborn that he'll force his desires on others when compromise is possible (i.e. Him working part time just so he can make money and live separate from his family instead of demanding them to pay for all of his expenses)
