Everything about the series is oddly deep

Like the reason Shamiko had to take on the Tama-Sakura-chan job. The suit was made for someone who's 145 tall, a midget. Tama-chan is known to do backflips into boiling udon. Manager was in a broken state when we first met him because he had failed to do a backflip a few days ago. And then we find out he created Tama-Sakura. And then Tama-Sakura connects to the plot in depth. Everything is connected. And that's not even getting into the reason Shamiko took on the job is because of Anri, who later is revealed to know all the dark clan members in town, and got her the job with Shirozawa. It all just connects in an odd way.

Its a good philosophy to have.
The author could have made it just be surface level CGDCT, but instead we got something more "experimental"

It shouldn't look unfamiliar. We're a smart race of monkeys, so just sounding out what we see is plenty enough to give us the full picture. Meringue is fine for us Amerifats. Plus, it was a common as fuck word in cartoons of yesteryear before Anime was common in the west. Lemon meringue pies were the ones you usually see flung at faces, after all. Of course, younger generations won't know what that is at first since the concept of pie tossing probably isn't as common now, but in the age of broken necks and smartphones, they can google it.

The term 眷属 is much stronger than mere minion. You would use that to refer to your spouse and dependents usually.

I think it's more that the core collects some amount of magic and life energy from Yuuko while supporting her health, and if Yuuko became strong enough, the core would absorb enough magic to reconstitute itself
