What's your guys' thoughts on the voice of Broly? Apparently, his lawsuits against some people got dropped hard.
>The ongoing saga of Vic Mignogna’s defamation lawsuit against Funimation, Jamie Marchi, Monica Rial, and Rial’s fiance Ronald Toye came to a head earlier today. In Tarrant County, TX a hearing on the defendants’ motion to dismiss under the TCPA (Texas’s Anti-SLAPP law) took place, and boy was it eventful.
>The hearing was live-tweeted by a number of people who were present in the court house.
>Importantly a number of claims against the defendants were dismissed today, including all claims against actress Jamie Marchi. Additionally, many of the claims against Monica Rial, Ronald Toye and Funimation have been dismissed as well.
>Whether the remaining defamation claims against Rial, Toye and Funimation will be dismissed under the TCPA or not will be decided in the judges ruling, which we expect to see within a month. If any of those claims survive, the case will continue onward, though we won’t know for sure until the judge rules.
>Importantly, one aspect of these claims being dismissed under the TCPA means that Mignogna will now be on the hook for all of Marchi’s attorney’s fees, as well as at least a portion of Rial’s, Toye’s and Funimation’s. The judge may also choose to include sanctions.
>As always, we will continue to follow this story.
It's incredibly difficult to present a defamation case in a state with an anti-SLAPP law. You'd basically have to get the accused to say that they were intentionally defaming the accuser.
Jeremiah Williams
>As always, we will continue to follow this story. Nah, it's cool. You can stop now.
Samuel Ramirez
oh shit. shit dude, like you cant really make some one admit they were scheming behind their back even when everyone is lying and every knows that, lying under oath isnt a thing in these proceedings is there?
Julian Lopez
This. It would be better for everyone that way. It's merely a case about one worthless dubfag, the Internet doesn't need to listen to it anymore.
Nicholas Ortiz
It's exaggeration. Just that trying to make a defamation case in those states is near impossible.
Carter Davis
Did you knowingly say false statements about this persons character to ruin it? I mean if there are still cases being under review there maybe a chance.
David Perez
I think these threads need to be banned
Tyler Green
Recent fuck ups by his lawyer meant that key evidence was ignored. Probably win more after appeals. At least it’s hurt funimation, which should hopefully cut off some of the poison entering subs.
Isaac Perry
At the end of the day, itll be hard for Vignonia to get work. Even if he is innocent. The damage has been done
Caleb Garcia
>Implying I should care about the dub
Nathan Reed
>caring about voice actors you're probably one of those people who goes to /gif/ to make pornstar drama threads
Julian Ross
Deserved. Iv'e always disliked him.
Evan Barnes
One of the retarded moves by his lawyer was not suing for wrongful dismissal, but that did show that the money isn’t made by dubbing, but by conventions. Vic has seen a massive boost in his popularity from this, and he can still work with other companies. Funi meanwhile, are dealing with Sabat scandals, and the risk that toei may pull the license because of bad pr. I don’t give a shit about dubs, but I don’t want the subs to get infected with this retard shit. Therefore, anything that burns down dubs is a net positive.

More audio leaks when?
Justin Murphy
Just wait for the one hour special GokuxVegeta yaoi.
Jason Russell
It wasn't. Marchi's was, everyone else is still in the shit
Xavier Wilson
Agreed. I'm kinda mad that after half a year of being told this case will be easy the legal team seems to have been steamrolled in the courtroom/
In fairness it sounds like the judge just didn't care what the hearing was about and demanded a higher standard of proof than the law actually requires at this stage.
What pisses me off most is how Marchi is dancing on twitter saying how she's going to heal the anime community once this is all over, as if she isn't a vicious snake.
Defamer or not, she's still a massive hypocrite. She'll get engaged to a man who's been through 2 divorces due to abusing his partners. She'll defend a man accused of holding a casting couch because she's his friend. But she'll destroy Vic Mignogna based on him eating a jellybean with her name on it, and supposedly forcibly kissing women in his hotel room. Made me laugh when she said how she's known Stephanie Nadolny for years and doesn't believe her claims about Sabat because she's never mentioned them before, yet she's happy to try to take Vic down based on her own claims from 12 years ago.

Not sure who's the bigger idiot, him for admitting to pulling the hair of two people, or his lawyer for letting him say that.
Aaron Morris
>muh popularity >h-he's untouchable >o-only funi is being in deep shit!1!
cringe vicfag hope they sue him in return
Jack Green
He didn't admit to that, he explicitly objected to the lawyer characterizing it as such
Tyler Cooper
moshi moshi, baito desu
Chase White
Is losing this any of the fault of Nick Rekieta?
Blake Adams
>barely have a case to begin with >hire a bumbling idiot for a lawyer >proceed to be surprised when said bumbling idiot loses you the case
He started up the funding for his defence to "own the libs" and ironically enough is now the reason the libs are gonna get a hefty payout.
Luke Wood
Nick referred Vic to Ty and it does seem like Ty isn't handling it very well, but the big factor seems to be the Judge just doesn't care and is actively ignoring evidence because he wants to trim the case down. Probably doesn't help that both sides have filed literally hundreds of pages in just a couple months. No wonder the judge is sick of it already >barely have a case Fucking lmao. Is that you Ron? All of the defendants have examples of them saying things that aren't true about Vic and there's more than enough basis to show they knew those thing to be untrue.
It's absurd that the Tortious Interference case was dismissed considering plaintiff has the text conversation in which the defendant interferes with the contract, and the party the contract was with has filed a statement saying that defendant interferes with his contract with plaintiff.
