Are you ready for the inevitable return of the cyberpunk genre...

Are you ready for the inevitable return of the cyberpunk genre, now that people have been steadily loosing interest in Isekai and moeshit?

No thanks IIya

fuck off with that CGI garbage

is the new gits gonna be cg?

Cyberpunk is often too absurd with overload on unnecessary neon lights, unweildy guns, and ,stock dystopian slums

I prefer the return of steam punk. Gears, steam, and lots trains. Kabenari was fun but man, did it collapsed hard after Biba came in. And don't get me started on AoT's and how far it has fallen

Attached: Tactical+rice+paddy+hat+would+actually+be+pretty+dope+_aae616ebe232a484b1ac0e3ba80a219d.jpg (825x638, 68K)

Cyberpunk is here and there's nothing punk about it. Which is why it's dead as a genre.
>loosing interest in isekai
Okay retard.

>psycho pass 3
oh shit, I missed the announcement
will it be kino like S1 or kuso like S2?

Was AoT ever good to begin with tho?

Kuso like S1

Then some fuckwit comes up with the idea of isekai cyberpunk, or at least a fucked up alternate reality where Brisbane Line happened.

>no Akane
>no Mika

I'm more excited about PP3 because of pic related, if she has the chance to return.

Attached: tumblr_pqtybo7GSP1ra9q9jo2_1280.jpg (810x1080, 259K)

Akane is confirmed to comeback in S3 alongside Shinya and Gino according to the season 3 announcement meeting.

literally who?

Tenzing Wangchuck, the main heroine of Sinners of the System Case.3. The BD of it will come on the 18th day of this month.

cyberpunk gets released at one good show a decade.

>An isekai finally made it into top selling rankings for manga, selling better than 2/3rds of what's currently being published in JUMP
>"losing interest"

New pasta! Please use it with love, anons:
Not really, it'll probably be more androgynous than androids this time around, and more autistic sexual fantasies about children than anything remotely cool or good. Fuck, even GitS managed to shoehorn in Major getting thrown in the little girl body in the original to pander to pedophiles.
Abe was fucking right, Japs need to be recuperated from their autism and taught how to breed and live again. I am only looking forward to cyberpunk if it features at least one hard-working supporting character and at least two titty monsters, and at least one action scene of some sort per two episodes.
And no, a dream sequence doesn't fucking count unless it's being directed by Satoshi Kon.
Anyone saying "hurr durr fucking ADD shonenfags" should off themselves, an anime being stone cold boring pedobait does NOT make it atmospheric or "deep", and any animation with actual depth in it should also be able to ensure it does not become a snoozefest by that same level of care. If nothing is happening, and no one is saying anything of importance, and the scene is not establishing anyone's character, and we're not seeing a panning scenic shot, then it should be cut.
I don't need to see a two minute scene of people stirring coffee and glaring at each other to establish their character dynamics; shorten that same scene to ten seconds. If I need more than that, I'll drive to some shitty diner and witness it firsthand.
The pedestrian, the dull and "relatable", the five-minute shrieking exposition of the MC's rote, predictable feelings with a helping of "I want x because completely unrelated y, because I'm too Japanese and hysterical to use reason!" has no depth, charm, or beauty, and that is not a subjective opinion but an objective fact.

Media won't teach nips to fuck again.
Their work culture is to blame for that.
Their only hope is robots as a labor force, age extension to buy more time and them artificial incubators for perfect little CRISPRed japanese elves.

couldn't finish reading your inane comment, consider going to reddit

No, cyberpunk is a bad genre. I used to like it but it's all rubbish.

If you like that sort of scene you are wrong, just as you were wrong if you spent your youth listening primarily to music made by men who wear eyeliner and scream at the mic like it's their dad coming back to beat them some more, just as you would be wrong if you thought watching a fat lardbeast throw a tantrum in a grocery store was somehow "kino" or "deep".

If you like ugliness for the sake of ugliness, stupidity for the sake of stupidity, depravity for the sake of depravity, then you do not like art. You like to be told by an esteemed source that you are not as wretched and empty as you know you in fact are. You want to see someone despair and fail so you feel better about your own failure. You want a pat on the head and a free lunch at someone else's expense every day of your life. You want coffee, no cream, because you hate the flavor of coffee almost as much as you hate yourself. You don't actually like rain, but you say you do because it means you have more of an excuse to do what you do every day: hide away from a world you've decided not to try participating in, lest you realize you're not actually the best.

The hero archetype isn't dead - you're dead. Your culture is dead, and you need something "relatable" to tell you it's alright not to want to improve your lot or help your species in any meaningful way, because you're not going to anyways.

But you won't win them all. There will always be another anime coming out that makes you gag and roll your eyes, ah, how passe. Just look at that fantasy wish fulfillment garbage, with the strong and unyielding man who is kind to women and children, who stands up regardles of how afraid he is to say to a wall of metal and circuits, or some vast faceless organization, "I will do right by my people."
It's kid stuff, right? But the kids who grow up without letting anyone talk them out of watching it will be doing great things while all the 2deep4u fags rot. TITS AND ACTION IN SCIFI NOW AND FOREVER!

kind of proving his point lmao

Isekai moeshit cyberpunk when
>Cyberpunk is here and there's nothing punk about it. Which is why it's dead as a genre.
That's a pretty depressing reality we live in.

>Isekai moeshit cyberpunk when
would be kino, but mix a little bit SOL to it

>people have been steadily loosing instrest in Isekai and moeshit
They haven't though.

Stop calling things "punk" you retards. Do you even know the roots of what you call "cyberpunk"? It's literally just science fiction in the style of Brave New World, 1984, Animal Farm, etc.

Absolute cringe.

>brothel of android whores isekai into might & magic
Fund it.

Attached: 1556074764906.png (1280x1793, 2.41M)

how about I prolapsepunk your asshole, pedant

based

Honestly punk was the depressing bit, cyber-rational is a pretty good timeline to be in. The "we must overthrow the corporations we continue to support and buy from while saying we must overthrow them" plotline is wearing thin, though. Can we move on from Marx already?
Drop dead gorgeous elf who is also a fantasy assassin isekais to a Blame!-world and gets a techy-but-also-shooty benefactor who teaches her to use enough futuristic gear and tactics to survive, and then instead of will-they-won't-they, they almost immediately start dating, and the running plotline is finding good places to have cute dates in this hostile sprawling world, but they have bounties on their heads and somehow always get interrupted at some point during the date and end up in a shootout or mech fight, so the first season is just trying to build a proper mood for their first kiss, because they both want the romance denied to them by this grim setting, and elf is also a little iffy because she wants to go home eventually and doesn't know if he'd follow her or be able to. Last episode of first season they take down some building-sized mini-boss and then for max kino elf is the one who pulls him in for a kiss, embracing the grimness but also rabu cannu burumu inu a wasuturando while the miniboss blows up in front of them.
Then the very last few seconds is a tech sniper sighting in on them from somewhere off in the wings while they walk away hand in hand.
Set it up for a real banging season 2 opener.
Sadly that's the overwhelmingly used term, user. It is stupid and cringe, like everything punk, but everyone has already adopted it.
We managed to write the EXACT opposite anime in both setting and theme, let's compete for the #1 selling spot.

>Brave New World, 1984, Animal Farm
No that's dystopia.
Cyberpunk implies technology and population exploded too fast too big and under Black Mirror govt/corps (cyber) exist a social layer that's hard for them to fully control due to wide spread of technologies (punk).

You're also a retard.

Attached: 1545437631881.jpg (600x911, 194K)

Decentralization of powers doesn't make something "punk", that's a central theme of all of human history. Nothing that is in control ever fails to beget oversights.

What new iteration of the Major will they make next?

I think the concept of the scarlet johansson major was the best new think the series has had in a long time.

Attached: 1448433557213.jpg (3000x1616, 862K)

Remember Desert Punk and how much better it would have been with a different MC and just called "Desert"?

>Nothing that is in control ever fails to beget oversights.
Say that to chinks they're actively working on it.

There's no genre called "moeshit".

Yeah, because the Chinese never ever ever let anything get out of hand, and their business model isn't entirely based on bribing five people to get through otherwise impenetrable processes...

Attached: 1565841741904.jpg (1366x768, 362K)

Yet everyone knows what OP's talking about

I only know he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Pretty sure their model now is firing 5 people the commie way to ensure other 15 work properly until it's time for next 5 to be fired.

Then you're in the minority

Thanks God.

There's no genre called faggotry either, but you seem intimately familiar with it nonetheless.
These two models coexist.

>made him ugly as sin
>thanks me for also making him retarded contrarian
You're welcome.

Attached: 1543333848733.png (1008x1434, 315K)

cyberpunk is a very cerebral genre and requires high effort on both the writing and art to make it work
isekai is a lowest common denominator genre and requires very low effort to gain attention
if anything isekai will be replaced with more battleshonen as those compete for the same audience but don't seem to fall out of fashion

Imagine working hard your whole life as an honest man, wearing yourself out only to die unfulfilled at the end, and getting to heaven only to find out God's a chuuni faggot LARPing as a prankster. I'd sass him too.

For those who have seen Case.3 at theaters did any Yea Forumsnon actually like Tenzing's character?

>chuuni faggot LARPing as a prankster
That's probably easiest to digest facade if you'd seen him without it your eyes would bleed out of your anus. Even his messengers start with
>do not be afraid
because first thing people do is shit themselves

Attached: 1542309160870.jpg (400x528, 74K)

Embarrassing post. Cyberpunk has nothing to do with George Orwell. It has its roots in Phillip K Dick. The first use of the term "Cyberpunk" was as the title of Bruce Bethke's short story. The genre became popular with the successes of Blade Runner and Neuromancer.

I sure hope so!

Attached: 1416223673771.jpg (1289x1455, 438K)

It’s great to make up your own headcannon but now look around, you are on Yea Forums not Yea Forums. Isekai is still going strong and nips simply like medival fantasy settings more nowadays.

/thread

Have people forgotten how bad Psycho Pass S2 was.

Attached: 1566659226119.gif (305x323, 208K)

There's also The Shockwave Rider, that feels pure Cyberpunk almost ten years before Neuromancer.
I agree you can't talk about cyberpunk with just the average dystopic sci-fi that was so common in the 70's, it's a matter of topics and technology.

Cope Isekaidog, you and your kind of "people" have polluted the industry for long enough with your shit taste. It's time to go back to former glory and revive superior genres like Cyberpunk or Delinquent

I should watch policenauts walkthrough.

>It's time
Not according to the market.

seething a little are we? But yea it’s the truth. Besides cyberpunk is a shitty setting in general so I’m glad nips have good taste!

>Cyberpunk is here and there's nothing punk about it.
and then its not fucking cyberpunk is it ?

Please for the love of god stop spamming the eldritch horror angels meme
Everyone knows
We've known for years and years
Why only now do you all keep finding reasons to bring it into any discussion?

Let's say it's cybershit.

which is that first one from? was it just a one off thing? i dont remember it from anything

Attached: 1567454626613.png (1440x1080, 1.74M)

It wasn't even that bad. Just a huge letdown and downgrade.

It's from the Manga I think

Attached: 1479042328126.jpg (720x1000, 312K)

>Why

>cyber
but its barely even cyber as well.
lets just call it "shit"

I actually agree, this is the shit era.

I can't believe even the Japanese will never ever be creative enough to make my fantasy of a combat android so advanced and high-powered she has to use an additional core cooling mechanism after a fight/during long fights by peeing out hot coolant and drinking more coolant a reality.

i dont remember it from it.
its a really nice design

The biggest problem I have with S2 is that Ubukata's writing often go edgy just for the sake of it, S1 do at least justify it.

I didn't mind that. I did mind the plot holes and the rinse-repeat of the S1 plot.

What? Its the largest piece of GitS media that's been made in recent years, and its bound to influence any new fans. I thought specifically what they did with the Major, having her be comparatively very young and naive compared to earlier iterations, and also the whole identity crisis thing was super interesting

she's a little girl

strange because i can sit through all of abe's work but struggled to get through lain. I guess its down to aesthetic preferences maybe? Anyway if your willing to trudge through texhnolyze i guarantee you, you will be rewarded with the best final episodes of any show i've ever seen

He looks like he's extremely fond of children.

What do you mean boring? It has a heavy atmophere and very slow, but definitely not boring.

maybe he would be if there were actually any children apart from ran in his world

What would you do if you found Motoko's disembodied head?

Well yeah, that's always been a character trait. But at the same time the character of the major has usually been super confident and assured etc, its interesting to imagine the places she could go as a less sure of herself person. That and I'm just being realistic with what they have to work with, personally I thought the 3D movie was better then Arise.

Is there any value left in cyberpunk
What can you do with the "genre" that hasn't already been done before, or that isn't purely
>Corporations bad, capitalism bad, technology make people bad, technology make machines more human than humans
Or is it just an excuse to use a nice set of aesthetics? Do people just want it because they like seeing people in spandex suits with robot parts running around a big, dirty city with a bunch of neon signs on a rainy night?

He uses remote autonomous racoon as his primary weapon retard.

>an excuse to use a nice set of aesthetics
you're talking as if using a nice set of aesthetics was evil.
Only evil things require excuses

>Do people just want it because they like seeing people in spandex suits with robot parts running around a big, dirty city with a bunch of neon signs on a rainy night?
Yes, because it's valuable.

>Or is it just an excuse to use a nice set of aesthetics? Do people just want it because they like seeing people in spandex suits with robot parts running around a big, dirty city with a bunch of neon signs on a rainy night?

>Cute girls, doing cute things, non-existing plot, one dimensional characters and setting
Or is it just an excuse to sell merch? Do people just want it because they like seeing cute girls doing cute things, happy world with a bunch of cute girls on a bright day?

everything that happened in the first two episodes were uninteresting, the aesthetics were dull, and the colour palette was dry.
i usually dont mind slow, and atmospheric things but for some reason texhnoyzle just didnt work with me

>What can you do with the "genre" that hasn't already been done before, or that isn't purely
>list of stuff genre does a lot of the time
this can be said about every genre and every medium of art there is.
just as pointed out

What is it about newfags and hating any genre that's critical of our modern era?

Who's dick are you sucking when you make these retarded "hurrr durrr" posts? Because that post was fucking retarded user, I don't actually think you could be that stupid.

Attached: 1565836918733.gif (480x270, 591K)

I'm not defending moe but the difference is that cyberpunk is implicitly satirical. It's not a fun fantasy world, from it's inception it was conceived as a dark interpretation of where modern technological trends might lead to, which means that it needs to have a point, and it cheapens it if you don't actually care about that and just want to use it as set dressing

Hoping uro comes back for this

politics

If cyberpunk as a genre is exhausted, it's only because we're living in it, but it turned out not to be as cool as we hoped it would be.

Sounds like we need happy, optimistic sci-fi instead

>If cyberpunk as a genre is exhausted
it's not so the rest of the post doesn't matter much right?
cyberpunk needs to go back to its noir roots instead of being a fantasy setting where technology has become magic

That's post-scarcity communism and it's got nothing to offer but space frontier exploration, which was overdone.

It's not because we're living in it, it's because we're living with concerns from it. Loss of privacy, dependency upon corporations for things that are considered required parts of socializing, daily stories about things being hacked, and the fact that people communicate through technology almost constantly. That isn't to say there aren't still cyberpunk themes that we actually have yet to really deal with, like the questions about what it means to be human, and the possible loss of these things, and if you're really still you when you've replaced so much of yourself with machine parts. Or questions about the ethics around AI. If you want to maintain the feel of cyberpunk you have to change out the concerns it focuses on, focus on those that remain distant, and include new future concerns about how technology will change society in the future.

Fuck concerns how many orphanages do I need to burn to get transcranial VR and robowaifus?

What about the concerns about how other people can and may well program their robowaifu exactly the same as yours? There are several of her, and at least one of those guys is doing things with her that you find absolutely disgusting!

My clones aren't me and neither the other guys toothbrushes, even if they're from the same conveyor.
>programming
I'm pretty sure it would have to be self-learning to perform basic human stuff like taking a shower by itself to wash out my cum out of it's cunt and make me a breakfast.

Kill all politics-fags desu

I'm trying to think of any other anime adaptations Netflix has done on the scale of SAC and I'm drawing a blank. So no prior judgement to go on, and Castlevania was good. The also have the original SAC guy, Kenji Kamiyama. I'm expecting Scarlet johansen levels but I'll certainly watch it.

Ironically SAC does politics great- not the 'PUNCHING DOWN NOT UP' retarded shit, but the base nittity gritty of political players maneuvering, the vested interests of faceless bureaucracies and the behind the scenes back and forth.

Attached: 1468856685692.jpg (450x235, 32K)

It's standalone complex 3rd gig basically so will be SAC Motoko, in CGI.

>CGI.

Fuck

Attached: 1457395448761.jpg (850x2002, 455K)

They should have casted Ron Pearlman as Batou for the live action movie.

Honestly depends on the how fluid it is, the main issue with CGI animations is that the renders are done in such low framerates so it looks horribly sluggish.

Depends on what got you into it. AoT now and AoT of a few years ago are very different stories.

why not all 3 together?

The Punk part is the most important to me. Corporations have too much control over information in the modern era. Not really the dissemination of it, but the acquiring, study, and utilization of data by Companies is going too far.

Yeah. The punk part may be "depressing", as the other user says, but that's only because our world is kind of depressing. I think however there needs to be more hopeful material in the sense of "we can actually defeat this system". Even The Matrix kind of ended on a stalemate.

Defeating it would require having a proper solution. Since the whole issue can be easily related to real life people have a harder time with their suspension of disbelief and are more prone to skepticism.

It's like how people won't get autistic about magic and cultivation nearly as much as they do about sci-fi technology. The former elements simply do not exist in any inkling as far as we can tell in our world, so there's nothing to doubt. It's why many people get autistic over vidya game stat screens, cause it reminds them too much of technology.

When you realize you got a bunch of these autistic kids who cannot even differentiate reality and fiction simply due to a floating stat screen are you really confident in making cyberpunk mainstream again? You'd have to throw away all the autists for that to happen, but unfortunately as you can see on Yea Forums these autists are a vocal minority just like the twitterfags.

That is the death of Cyberpunk.
Can you think of a way to take out Amazon that could reasonably succeed? Probably not. So unless you write an unrealistic story you have to set the goal on the very small scale, which doesn't allow for very long form content.
Things like Gits:SAC focus on relatively small stories and even then nothing really works out as planned.

There is more to cyberpunk than 'Tech Bad, I love Uncle Ted'. It is the best place to examine the realistic implications of technology from the perspective of an individual.
More traditional sci-fi is focused on the important people, commanders, politicians, some special. Cyberpunk is built around the persepecitive of the normal person, a normal android, a robocop, some computer engineer.
The cynicism to cyberpunk is only because things tend to be cynical, there is a lot of missed optimism in the genre, I agree, but as a whole there is a reason that the ideas of cyberpunk fiction are so easily connected to modern society.

>there is a lot of missed optimism in the genre
Like what? It's all rooted and held back because of the things you mentioned in the first place. The suspension of disbelief may vary person to person, but in the end it doesn't change the fact that sci-fi hits too close to home and restricts the freedom of narration.

Isekai and moeshit are both heavily invested in escapism good or bad. For isekai it's like another user put it, it's a frontier. The rules and relationships are reset, there's no hard factors involved whereas you can find the number of sci-fi that overturn the concept of mathematics or physics on one hand. They might skew around it, but you'll never see a sci-fi world that literally proves 1+1=546 and works around it. That's just far too paradoxical and complicated even for real scientists, let alone writers.

Sci-fi and cyberpunk is ultimately rooted in science, and science is what keeps most of humanity grounded. In order to venture out into unknown territories you'll need to transform science into magic by making it far too complicated and hand wave any need for explanation such as how Evil Lord does it, but doing so would just get you a sci-fi flavor of a traditional medieval isekai setting and I'm pretty sure sci-fi/cyberpunk fags don't consider Liam the shining beacon of innovation when it comes to sci-fi isekai MCs.

Plus we have enough 1984 dystopian big brother shit with China already. Why would anyone care to spend their leisure time in fictional stories about shit that's already encroaching our reality day by day? We haven't even managed to get a real practical solution to climate change or dwindling resources or pollution, even our real life scientists and politicians just take retarded NPC ideas like "everyone stop eating meat and eat insects" or "everyone start using robots instead of manual labor" or "everyone stop using plastic or cars" without a transition plan addressing the fact that our population is too high for Earth.

You kidding there, man?
Cyberpunk is the very root of the mecha genre.
Back in the 80's and90's, shit was more popular than Isekai ever was

...

If we take cyberpunk as 'what if sci-fi but realistic' then there are a lot of positive and optimistic consequences of the technological developments that have characterized the past few decades.
You could do a story about the ability of people to communicate with those from all around the planet in real time, a story about friendship is easy to create from that. Could tell stories about someone who grew up in poverty utilizing technology to either become successful themselves or help people throughout the world or at least their community. A story about some kid with terminal illness that is saved by augmentation. A story about a human and an AI bonding.

Limiting cyberpunk to being only negative and cynical is pigeon-holing the genre and preventing it from keeping up with modern times. Its not about being negative, its about being realistic about technology.

Desert Punk is still going.

You could, but could you be successful? Cause anyone can write their headcanon what-if stories on their blog user, there's no guarantee what you posted hasn't been done yet. It could have, but that doesn't mean it will be good or popular enough to get any limelight.

What you're doing is proposing what could work without actually getting into why it hasn't happened yet. Unless you wanna start pretending to be a prophet or act like you are a man ahead of the times and everyone is too stupid to appreciate your train of thought then ultimately there's something wrong with your supposition. Regardless of which of the two you choose, it'd be up to you to prove it, otherwise it's just hogwash as far as Yea Forums is concerned.

Are these movies good?

>2019
>people still pretending like nips have an issue with population decline when the vast majority of the EU would have lower birth rates once you remove immigrants
>people still caring about birth rates when the economic model of growth growth growth is inherently flawed and humanity is still stuck on the only planet with enough range of resources for sustainability
It doesn't matter which race outbreeds the rest, humanity will go extinct or at the very least turn into shells of their current selves as the fight for resources and pollution escalate. The law of the conservation of energy alone has defeated us.

the BD of the 3rd case or all three of them?
is it possible to watch any of them at all right now? because I have checked a few sites with no luck

The BD release include all three Cases.

thanks, I just checked

I lost my hope when I saw how recent adaptations are mistreated, but seeing some work with a Netflox budget I rethink my ideas. I would just like this genre to resurface with a little high budget, first some movies and then the TV series.

>thinking the budget won't be squandered
The most important thing in any production are the people involved as well as the autonomy they have, budget comes second. You can have a low budget and still be a huge success like Kemono Friends, but the moment you either lack autonomy or the right people, well just look at Kemono Friends.

Hear me out for a second, what if we create a new genre called cybermoe? Cyberpunk+moe

Man, I want actual futuristic shit, not cyberpunk.

I fucking love robots and androids and am constantly upset of the lack of attention they get. So, yes.

The principle behind the live action could have worked if they dubbed over her: Android bodies are not unique, and I'm pretty sure they outright said the Major's was designed after a popular model (Hence seeing "herself" working an office job while going down the canal).

There's a 119% chance in the future that someone's gonna have a Scar Jo. gynoid body or similar.

>5 fucking isekai next season
>losing interest

I understand why you don't like it but wishes don't come true

Is there a collection of recommended cyberpunk anime/mango?
Already watched and liked GitS, Lain, Texhnolyze, Appleseed, Akira, Mardock Scramble and Ergo Proxy
Didn't like Psycho Pass but everything else mentioned in this thread was pretty good

Can we consider Accell World cyberpunk?

Cyber City Oedo 808 was good for the time. It's also one of the sweariest animes out.

no

eden its an endless world kinda counts as cyberpunk

>now that people have been steadily loosing interest in Isekai and moeshit
In your dreams
Also enjoy netflix CGI GITS

Is it just me, or you are not a new IP?

This is a cyberpunk thread, it doesn't matter what you see on the internet, chances are none of it is real anyways.
