I don't mind that. What's wrong is how the series teases some moral ambiguity but just makes antagonists more comically evil than the next. It even happens to the Jaegars with Wild Hunt. Though I honestly would have preferred the Jaegars as the protagonists, because they ultimately were more interesting than Night Raid.

Also Esdeath could have overthrown the PM but didn't just "eh, nah" and he didn't seem to prepare for the possibility either.

Also Tatsumi is a turbo faggot for passing up this and Leone up for a washboard.

The prime minister wasn't prepared for Esdese betraying him because of two reasons. First, he knew that she had no interest in his position, finding the work tedious and boring, and just wanted to keep fighting. Second, that he knew he couldn't do anything about it if she did betray him.

Eh, is hard to label her as evil, she just believe in the law of the strongest and her only ambition is to fight and fight, the empire is the evil one and she just found a place that enabled her desires there, an unlimited amount of people to fight and places to conquer, she's basically a viking and story-wise she could had easily swapped to the "good side" if the story would had progressed in another direction.
That was due to her education though.

Wasn't that true for most of that series' villains? They took a rapist serial murderer clown out of prison just to deal with some rebels, that guy that was suppossed to be the one good idealist guy looked so out of place.

Even Nazis paid some lip service to morality and at least tried to make up excuses. Though I don't know what's worse, knowing that you're wrong and making up shit to explain why you're right, or knowing that you're wrong and just not giving a fuck.

It's enough pages I don't want to bother, it was in chapter 33 of akame ga kill zero, that page is actually later from chapter 42, and not part of the flashback between them. In the flashback though it's just that Mera went to a martial arts tournament to test herself, where she fought Esdese. She surrendered because she knew she couldn't win, and didn't actually like pointless fights. After the tournament she tracked down Esdese to try and seduce her, and it actually failed, Esdese in the page above was being misleading with her statement. It seems they didn't actually have sex, Mera tried to make a move too quickly, though it's possible that at al' would have still been too quick, and Esdese reacted with violence.

She outright enjoys sadistically torturing people far than what is ever needed and willingly contributes to the empire's corruption. If she was on the "good side" she'd still be pretty fucking evil.

Only because "redemption" is considered better than the hero being "corrupted" by the villain. There are female villains so entrenched, they will die the villain. Heroes like Tatsumi won't even bother giving them sweet loving because they would lose to the almighty pussy.
