Why people are jumping the gun and immediately assuming the worst of Asuka? Every time she does something different, people assumes she's gonna snap. Within the story itself, Asuka has always been depicted as a well adjusted (if somewhat weird) girl. Now that I thought about it some more, I don't agree with this, actually. Yuri and Mako were established as friends, even before the kyoto trip. Then during the kyoto trip Tomoko, Yuri and Yoshida developed a strong bond. Later, Tomoko and Yuri developed a friendship and confirmed that friendship at the very least with the whole "call me Yuri-chan" thing. After the arcade ch, Yoshida also confirmed that she considers Tomoko a friend and sadly not by much but they deepened that friendship during the suspension arc. Also, Yuri and Yoshida were shown interacting as friends with each other, but granted I don't remember them having confirmed that they think as friends of each other. Regardless, it's pretty safe to say that these 3 are very close to each other. However, Mako's closeness to these 3 is not that obvious, well to me at the very least. It was established off-screen that Yuri and Mako are friends and I remember them having shown interacting as friends multiple times. So that's clear. But I don't think Tomoko thinks of "the crazy lesbo" as a friend and regardless of what Mako might think, their behavior with each other is more akin to acquaintances to me. Similarly Yoshida and Mako weren't shown interacting with each other as friends. Until the suspension chapter, where seemingly out of nowhere Mako is shown to be overly concerned about Yoshida's future. Why is she depicted as suddenly so close to Yoshida, that she can question her on what is she doing with her life, is beyond me and has remained a mystery to this very day. You seem to think that they were always close, so help me out here user, what did I miss about Mako? She had so little focus, that I barely remember her interacting with any other than Fang and very early Yuri. Am I missing something? Or, this sudden Mako Yoshida friendship does seemingly come out of nowhere?

Hm, that seems to be a very biased interpretation. It's trying to imply that they were not only close friends all along but they are actually lovers behind the scenes? That's just crazy. Regardless, there is a very good point in it, that so far has eluded me. They are sitting next to each other since the seat re-arrangement! So, Mako was always depicted as very caring and a person who tries to avoid conflict, or even solve it if it's already begun. Her role in the story was to take care of the problem child. First, it was Yuri, but since she is mostly being handled by Tomoko now, she switched to Fang. I didn't particularly noticed it, but most of what's being mentioned here is an in between period where Mako is trying to take care of Yoshida, a person who is quick to anger, which gets her into trouble often, but was also shown to go very far for Tomoko when they were still strangers. So, we are supposed to assume that since they are sitting next to each other, they went from acquaintances to friends behind the scenes? It would have been nice from Nico to show them interacting like that, in class. The lunch invitation is a little more believable with the fact that they are sitting next to each other, also it could be assumed that that's how she is aware of Yoshida's career situation. So, since she is very caring, she is trying to help her with that. Okay so far. And it's important, so it beats Sensei's orders not to contact them during the suspension. This is stretching it a little. But how and why does she suddenly feel entitled to claim that "this isn't just about you" is still beyond me and still out of nowhere.

It's pretty clear that Kato is very interested in Tomoko. What's not so clear is that what is it that she actually wants from her. It's almost like it's deliberately being left as ambiguous. Damn you Nico, you magnificent bastards! Tomoko on the other hand seems clearly flustered by Kato's status. It's almost like she sees her as a popular perfect being, the very thing she strove to become. But instead of feeling jealous, she feels unworthy to be in her presence. It is also quiet apparent that she get aroused from her body, but other that that, she is not really interested in Kato herself. To make it even worse, it's almost like she is unconsciously trying to keep herself from noticing the real Kato and prefers this perfect goddess image of her.
